The roof top view of Fort Wayne is very unique along with a pleasent outdoor dinning experience is what draws me back occasionally. I would encourage you to try Birdie's once if you like unique dinning experiences in Fort Wayne. Now on to the review. Birdie's is located a top the Bradley hotel downtown. You might find street parking. Or you can try one of the nearby parking garages. We like the City County Garage that is located across from the Landing. Upon entering the lobby you will find your way to the elevators. Everything is well marked. The Bradley hosts are glad to have you. The restaurant is comprised of two areas - the indoor bar and outdoor seating. They do not take reservations for small parties. Apparently they rent out the whole or part of the facility if you are interested. On this night half the restaurant was rented for a rehearsal dinner. The bar area is large and good for larger groups. It is well decorated like you would expect from an owner that was associated with Vera Bradley. The seating and lighting are very comfortable. The outdoor patio is well covered. In the evening hours it blocks the sun so it is relatively cool even in a 90 degree night. The tables are generally limited to four people and few in number. There is a fire pit for smaller groups. No reservations...just first come first serve. Overall...we have always felt very relaxed no matter if we sat inside or outside. The team seems very friendly and service oriented. Our waiter was very professional. He was very attentive with refills. Things were very clean and in order. Note: Birdie's has crispy Brussel sprouts on the menu. You may pick ip this odor quickly if a fellow nearby dinner has selected this item. That may or may not be a problem for you. As mentioned...the food menu is very small. It's a two page menu. 1.5 pages are drink selections. So you can see where the emphasis is placed. There are two salads, a short list of sharables and entrees. Your food and drink bill can get rather pricey depending on your beverage selection(s). We started with the sweet corn hushpuppies and fried green tomatoes. The hushpuppies are smaller in diameter and fried to a deeper crunch. The outside has that traditional corn bread meal flavor. It is slightly oily to taste. The inside in very soft and slightly sweet. You get a few kernels of sweet corn in each ball. The honey butter is a nice idea. Tonight the butter was very cold, hard and difficult to spread. The fried tomatoes start with a VERY thin slice of tomato. This was thin enough that it didn't really let the flavor of a green tomato pop through. It had a thin but predominant breading. The breading has some of that traditional southern seasoning and oily accents. The Sirachca sauce was very tasty without adding much heated spicy flavor. Both were nice selections. My wife had the Indiana Cobb salad. She substituted grilled chicken for the fried chicken. The chicken came out nicely grilled and moist. The salad was very fresh. Not a wide variety of add ons...but enough to make a good salad. The buttermilk ranch dressing was like and pulled all the flavors together well. I ordered the brisket grilled cheese handheld. Two large pieces of Texas toast grilled with a buttery flavor. The bread looked like it was going to be overly crispy. However, it had a nice crunchy crust to go with the soft interior. The brisket was very good. The meat was moist and tender - still a little difficult to cut with a non-steak knife. The brisket oozed a lovely seasoned light BBQ meat flavor. The au jus drippings would have made a fantastic dipping sauce if possible - extraordinary tasty!! The bold cheddar cheese slice was nicely melted. Though its flavor really got lost in the seasoned brisket and crunchy breading. Overall, Birdie's is a nice addition to the Fort Wayne dinning selections. The unique views and relaxing patio make it a must try. I would encourage you to put this on your list to try at least once!

Corner Pocket Pub (St. Joe Center Road) - bar eating/drinking on a relaxed outdoor patio…read more Spent a beautiful summer evening relaxing and dinning/hanging with friends of the Corner Pocket Pub patio. They have a very spacious patio. It's clean and well maintained. Chairs and tables are a comfortable wire construction - nothing fancy. And yes...it still feels like a bar as a bouncer will check your ID at the door. You can balance the bar feel with the opportunity to hang out on a warm summer evening...on a patio. Our waitress was very friendly. She hustled as much as she could though she had a lot of tables. The bouncers were all business. The menu is pretty large with pizza, salads, wraps, wings sandwiches and lots of appetizers. Prices are fair. And, to me, the overall food quality is better than your standard bar food. Here is a run down on the things we ordered: -Quesadillas: extraordinarily cheesy. Soft shell. Easy to pull apart. Comes with salsa and sour creme for dipping - nothing special here. -Chef salad: very fresh and piled high with meats and sides. Two breadsticks were also tasty. -Chicken Ranch wrap: fresh tasting. Tender chicken and wrap. Fries were good. -Onion rings: lots of rings in the basket located on the premium side menu. Rings were inconsistent. Some pieces had a very thick onion piece with a softer batter. Others had a thin onion piece and a very crispy outside. In general the rings were fried to a heavier crisp and a bit oily. Not my favorite. -Cole slaw: very smooth, sweet and creamy Mayo based dish. Small slaw pieces. Not soupy. Tastes almost exactly like KFC's cole slaw. Very good taste! -Wings: I ordered grilled teriyaki and spicy buttery ranch wings. About 50% of my wings were tough and chewy. The other 50% were moist, tender and perfect. All white insides and slightly crispy skins. Love the grill marks. I would recommend double dipped as the grilled skin was thinner on flavor. The teriyaki sauce was thin and had a mild teriyaki taste. The spicy buttery ranch sauce had a slight buttery oil taste with a moderately heavier spice taste. No spicy after taste or burn. The ranch flavor seemed to get buried in the spicy flavor. This review focuses on the patio dinning option. Corner Pocket does have a fun and spacious interior, with lots of pool tables, if you want to shoot some billiards with friends.

As a group we all had a complaint or two with each item. The only thing that pulled this meal out of the dumpster were their drinks. The sweet potato fries had a bold sweet potato taste but were disappointingly limp - first time they have been this way. The flat fries were uniquely thin and crispy. The cheese sauce was a unique blend of different cheeses that didn't taste like cheese. More of a smooth, mild and somewhat plain sauce. The ketchup had a nice bold tomato taste. The ranch dip was fairly unique with very faint ranch and oil taste. My wife loved the Southwest bowl. Very fresh and with lots of healthy add ins. The marinaded chicken was very moist and seasoned nicely. The guacamole was very tasty. The short rib beef stroganoff had an outstanding beef taste. There are five entrees to go along with a small amount of burger, chicken tender and appetizer choices. I went with the burger of the month - the pizza burger. The friendly waiter said the pizza sauce was made in house from scratch. The sauce was outstanding! It was thick and sweet with a bold tomato paste taste. The bun was soft and slightly grilled with a buttery flavor - very nice! It is odd that the burger is served in halves and vertical. The burger patty was very thin and cooked to a medium well done consistency - I would prefer medium rare but they didn't ask my preference. I thought the burger was over cooked and a bit tough/crunchy on the edges. It did have and nice high quality meat flavoring as it is sourced locally. The burger was covered with grilled pepperoni. This added a nice "pizza" flavor when combined with a nice bedding of mozzarella cheese. My wife really liked her chicken tenders. They were nice and moist. The breading was unique, tasty and crispy. She said the fries were very good while the best part might have been the house fry dipping sauce. That sauce was a nice combination of southwest and traditional meat flavorings. The side salad, to replace the fries, was fresh yet very small. The salad came in a half-ball type dish that was slightly larger than half a baseball. The half ball was actually unstable to eat out of. I had to cup the bowl with one hand to keep it from tipping over. The salad had a few side tomato and pepper parts added. There just isn't much room for things in this small of a dish. We decided to try the strawberry bread pudding for dessert. This was a fantastic dish! The breading was basically two pieces of fried French toast. It was soft on the inside with a cinnamon swirl and strawberry pieces. The breading was drizzled with a thin moderately sweet strawberry flavored syrup. The syrup was accompanied by some fresh whipped cream also bathed in syrup. Overall, Ducky's does have good food. They have a limited menu at moderately expensive prices. My preference would be to sit down and enjoy the scratch made items versus squeezing them in while you bowl. Also consider dinning at Ducky's and walking across the street the Pearl Arts Center for a program.

If love thin crust, then you need to make the trip out to Arena B&G at DuPont & Lima Roads. Arena does have a very good thin crust pizza. The crust is saltine cracker thick. The bottom is cooked so that it is flour white and soft...but stiff enough to pick up an individual square. The edges are cooked with a slight golden brown and crisp. The crust doesn't have any accents like butter, garlic or seasoning. Just plain pizza dough. The sauce the is slightly sweet and has a thicker consistency. Arena apllies a decent amount of sauce covers the pizza well and moistens it up a bit. I like the little bit stronger tomato flavor without a dominating spicy taste. There were enough toppings to create that single layer across the pizza. They aren't piled up such that you toppings on top of toppings on top of toppings. Just the right amount. The veggies were crisp and fresh. I would have liked to had more meat and more of an Italian favoring. Still good stuff! As for the cold pizza test...it was still moist enough to bite into the next day...the crispy crusts were still pleasantly crispy. The toppings tend to lose much of their zippy flavor. Though the veggies are still crisp. We ordered a side of cheese bread. The bread is a slice of Texas toast..so it is thick. They grill it so it has some nice buttery grill marks on the bottom. The edges are still soft. The inside breading has a nice buttery-garlic taste. The mozzarella is piled on nicely. Good cheesy taste overall! Overall, Arena Bar & Grill should be on your destination list if you are a thin crust lover. It's a busy place if you plan to dine in. Service is usually pretty friendly and spot on. They also have really good wings!
