She said it was very light - both the bread and sauce -The chicken enchiladas are okay. The rice is soft and seasoned like a Mexican rice should be. There was ample seating and space between tables. The service was excellent. Our waitress was attentive and detailed with explanations. She was honest regarding menu items she has yet to try, everyone's food and drink was exactly as ordered . The food was good. I ordered the shrimp tacos, which were excellent and the mango salsa was a bright addition with a crisp sweet flavor. My sons had the brisket grilled cheese with fries, I had a taste and it too was packed with flavor, my other son had the buffalo chicken loaded tator tots, you can never go wrong there. I've visited Charlie's Place on a numerous occasions. The breakfast/ brunch is great, the dinner not so much. The avocado toast during brunch is amazing! The salmon with the broccoli and Spanish rice is mediocre. The salmon is overcooked and the Spanish rice and broccoli lacks flavor. They have a great selection of drinks which was a plus. The most recent time I came, the service was very slow. The inside wasn't packed, maybe 3-4 tables, the outside was pretty steady but the service was slow. Our waitress was okay - she could have been more attentive in my personal opinion. Overall, I'd still come back for the avocado toast alone! read more

A fight broke out. An innocent bystander was watching it go down. Employees came out to break it up. This employee pictured attacked the bystander for no reason at all unprovoked as he watched the fight. Choked him out and dropped him onto the asphalt. The victim was unconscious for at least 5 minutes. The employee chose the smallest easiest target to attack. This man needs to be arrested and fired. It's one thing to break up a fight but you don't just attack people for the fun of it and laugh about it. read more

What a fantastic place! Not only is there a classy indoor dining room that feels like an upscale lounge, there's a tropical feeling patio and a covered patio with a bar halfway between both. The food and drink are delicious, the staff is kind and thoughtful (someone even went and turned on the Champions League Final on the tv we were closest to) AND dogs are permitted on the patio. My in-laws were visiting town, and we were excited to bring them to your establishment, as we have been regular patrons. We arrived early on Friday evening, expecting it to be busy, and were first in line to be seated. The host initially asked us to wait to the other side so guests with reservations could be seated first, which we completely understood. However, when the host returned, she completely ignored us and proceeded to seat parties who arrived after us who don't have reservations as well without any explanation or acknowledgment. I was there for a musical performance of one of my favorite bands. As always they were great! My food was amazing and so was my friend's choice. The service was great although not enough for the extra event. We had to wait over half an hour to get a drink. Other people sitting at our table were ordering 2 at a time in order to not wait as long. We were not allowed to go order our own drinks. My other comment is that there a few empty tables closer the stage that would have allowed us and others to have more space. Most likely they were reserved but the people didn't confirm or show up? If that was the case, I would think the tables would have been open for others by 1/2 an hour after the band started playing. Charlie's Place is always a fun and favorite spot in the summer on the patio and when they have live music. Service is always great and the best clean restrooms are a plus. read more

Made a reservation days in advance and confirmed it the night before, but still waited about 10 minutes to be seated - despite many open tables. Once seated, the experience didn't improve. Multiple parties around us were greeted, served, and had drinks before our server ever acknowledged us. In fact, he seemed to forget we had already been waiting and hadn't received our drinks and started to introduce himself again before realizing the mistake. After about 30 minutes, we were ready to order, but our server was stretched thin across the restaurant with no visible support from other staff. At that point, it felt like ordering food or even getting another round of drinks would take just as long. We paid and left. Looking for a good Happy Hour spot while in Ft. Wayne Indiana working for a few days. I decided on Charlie's Place on a Thursday (while they pour all their cocktails for Half Price) after seeing on Yelp! I had already eaten and was staying in the area so I stopped in around 6:00 p.m. and sat at the nearly empty (large) bar. The bar was empty because the outdoor patio seating, large tables and seating for larger groups was filling up fast, a very popular place it seems. The bartender (Anna?) was very attentive even considering she was pouring and shaking drinks non stop for the nearly two hours while I was there. I chose the Toasted Pecan Old Fashioned and at $7.00, this was one of the better versions of the classic that I have tasted, every detail was nailed down to the large clear cube of ice, orange zest and luxardo cherry. Once I had time to take in that Old Fashioned, I tried the Moscow Mule and this was a very refreshing finish to the long day, so much so that I ordered a second Mule before leaving. I did not eat while on this visit as I had eaten just before stopping to try Charlie's. I did see very good looking dishes being served, I look forward to enjoying dinner AND drinks on my next visit, this was a very enjoyable experience regardless! read more

Went here for the first time for dinner and was very impressed! The food was really good. This place was very big, plenty card games and board games you can grab and play with. Yesterday I made reservations for 9:30 p.m. for the patio for 2 people. We arrived and still ended up waiting to be seated while multiple groups who arrived after us without reservations were seated first. After we were finally seated, we were given food menus and then completely forgotten. We sat for over 30 minutes without a single server greeting us, taking a drink order, or even acknowledging our table. I eventually had to get up and ask the host if we were supposed to order drinks from the bar since no one had come to our table. The response I got was, "You can if you want to" and she told me she'd find a server for our table. The restaurant was busy, but it was far from packed. During that time, I counted at least 8 different servers walk past our table on the patio, and not one of them stopped to ask if we'd been helped. After another 15 minutes passed with no one coming over, I had to go back to the front a second time. A server happened to be walking by, and the host had her take our order while I stood there. The food was decent once we finally received it, and the DJ was okay, but neither made up for the experience. Having to chase down staff twice just to place an order is unacceptable. If customer service matters to you, I'd recommend spending your money somewhere else. We won't be back. read more

We don't live anywhere near Fort Wayne. We're 2 1/2 hours away in Frankfort Illinois but we go there once in a great while to exchange grandkids with my son who lives in Hudson, Ohio a suburb of Cleveland so he picked this place Charlie's to meet us for a lunch repass and it was very good. They have a very short suite menu, but what I had was terrific I had a a salad with salmon on it and a lot of other veggies. It was terrific. The salmon was jerk, salmon, and the whole thing was a delicious repast. We had a appetizer of a couple bowls of their homemade chips. Unlike many places that don't salt them. These were salted just the right amount not too salty and I can't say anything bad about it. Our server was terrific and his name was Alex and the place is shaping up. I guess they just took it over from someplace else. The walls are a little bit bare needs a little more decoration and the ceiling is bare, but the chairs are very comfortable so it's an easy five star. read more

I set up a sorority Christmas party here and when I got there they didn't have the room warmed up that we were going to have the party in. They said it would probably be too cold so we could set up in the main restaurant. That was not what I reserved. Very disappointed!!!! Very cold in the main restaurant most of the night then at the end they turned up the heat. The room was not heated prior to our arrival. When I got there I was told it was going to be too cold. I would have liked it pre heated so we could make a decision. I was given a choice of a freezing room or a cold in the restaurant table. We had 18 people that showed up and I was told when I arrived if 20 didn't attend we would be charged $20 to heat the room. We normally have 25-30. Needless to say we won't be back.
