This place is a great for men haircuts, I haven't seen a lot of females come here for haircuts. I was recommended to come see Meghan for my short haircut. I've been cutting my own hair since Covid and came to her to fix it for my wedding. She was very patient and listened to my thoughts and did a great job making me look my best for my big day! The barbershop is chill, casual, and comfy. When waiting you're offered free drinks! All of this for a reasonable price. read more

One of my favorite Bird's locations. This location is bigger than other locations and seems to have the most stylists so booking on their reservation system is easy. I booked the night before and was able to get a morning reservation. There's street parking and an ample parking lot out back. A short haircut is about $35. They don't offer gimmicky massages like the other shops in this price range if that matters to you. I got a good haircut and the stylist had no issues cutting my hair. Do not come here if you have curly hair. I had called asking for an appointment with a stylist who is well-versed with curly haircuts and requested a curly hair cut, a bang trim, and a diffuse dry. I did not get the service I requested. When I came in, I showed her the below first two pictures, saying that's my hair, and I'd like to trim it to get back to this. Right off the bat, she said I wasn't scheduled for a diffused dry, so she could either leave it wet or blow dry it straight, I said I guess blow dry it straight, because I had work right after. I also asked for only 1 inch off, about 4 was taken. She also blow dried my bangs straight down. I'm wondering who would feel good with this because the bangs rest just under the eyes. Take a look yourself at the way I normally leave my salon from where I moved from, and how I left this salon. Abysmal. I probably wouldn't come here if I wanted a straight cut either because she didn't do what she said she would do. Hair is hair, and it'll grow back, but I'll be adding a bandana to my outfit today because I can't show up to work like this. Who blow dries these type of bangs straight down so that they sit just under the eyes? It would look awful on anyone.. Not naming the stylist, just don't come here. Update from later in the same day: took a shower as soon as I came home to wet it and get my curls back. Because the stylist brushed out my hair before she cut it, she cut in the middle of my curl structure, so now when it dries naturally, I have locks pointing in every direction. I've been cutting my own hair for years now and I've been happy with it. I came to Austin to visit family and I thought I would take a chance to have someone cut my hair. Birds barbershop was the closest to where I'm staying so I thought that it would benefit me. I booked with Klayton and didn't really think about it until I was walking toward the building with anxiety lol. This barbershop has a large staff so getting in on a day or two notice is possible, though plan ahead near holudays as all men procrastinate hoping to have the cleast cut for Mom. A drink while you wait, shampoo, a cut, and it won't break the bank. I only had $5 cash so I had to tip more on my card, and that was painless. There's even an old style arcade game with several options so I killed less than 10 levels playing Joust before called. Great cut, great service, easy parking. 5 stars. read more

Birds on Burnet recommended that I book an appointment with Raven, because she does great work with curly hair, so I did. Raven not only did a great job with the styling and shaping of my hair but I also asked her a zillion questions about the right ways to use product and dry my hair for best results, and went home and tried her tips and all of them have really transformed my curls, and made them look so good! I've been back to see Raven for long cut trims and she always makes my hair look great. If you need a haircut, I recommend booking an appointment at Bird's with Raven S. For ten plus years before I went to Bird's, I went to a salon/spa that had a patronizing front desk, meditative music, aromatherapy-themed products, and a candlelit shampoo room. Not my vibe, but a substandard haircut makes me apoplectic. Paying their premium prices made me confident I would walk out happy. And I usually did. Then the salon/spa closed. A friend recommended Bird's. Overwhelmed by the idea of finding a new stylist I trust, I decided to risk it. My expectations were low. My expectations were wrong. I've been going to Bird's for a couple of years now. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and, bonus, they offer beer and cider while you wait. I've seen a few of their staff and had only positive outcomes, though none as positive as with Raven. She always gives me a fantastic cut. I go in with my face hidden by a mop (I'm an appointment procrastinator) and come out amazed I can look so good. She has that special stylist magic that turns a haircut into a refreshed motivation to go out and do exciting things. Gotta live up to the level of the look and all. At the ritzy salon/spa, a new do would cost two to three times what Bird's charges. Meanwhile, Raven does as great a job, if not better, than they did. While I'm happy with Bird's prices and hope they stay this affordable forever, I hope everyone who sees Raven tips as if they charge schmacy salon/spa prices. She's that good. I've had over 4 "hairdressers" and every single one has treated me with sweetness and grace. My only gripe is that most of them transfer to different locations so I always have to switch my stylist. However, the entire process is always seamless.......I imagine an Aggie with a crew cut showing up at Birds and they would still feel comfortable here (I'm born and raised in College Station). I had to get my hair cut and was glad to get it done here. I did want to have it done the day before but they were all booked up, which is my only complaint. Might as well be my fault for trying to walk in on a busy Sunday. However I was able to make an appointment for the next morning and all went well. I've been going to BB exclusively for probably at least 6-7 years now. I only go to Stevie A at the Burnet BB. I'm pretty particular about my hair and she is not only cool AF she is the best stylist I've ever had and I'm getting pretty old and had a lot of people F up my hair. I even switched locations when she moved to the Burnet location from one up north. I won't go anywhere else or see anyone else. I'm sure you all have your fav hair person, but do yourself a favor and go see Stevie. She will change your mind. read more
