Genuinely don't go here if you respect yourself. I came to get a very simple haircut - bangs & a trim, and I left looking absolutely insane. It came to a point where I had to tell the person cutting my hair to stop cutting my hair. This is the worst experience I have ever had. There's my before vs my after photos. I have never cried so hard, this person should not be a hair stylist. Additionally, I could tell they had a smoke break before my haircut because they did not wash their hands and REEEKED of cigarettes the entire time doing my hair. Your hands are in peoples faces and hair. Wash them before touching them. Seriously, do not go here. Absolutely awful and insane. read more

Well, well, Birds Barbershop. I've been coming here for a long time. EMILY is my barber. I have to say she has been on top of her game ever since I've come to see her with many changes with my hairstyle over the years. EMILY impresses me still to this day on how good of a haircut I receive from her. It must be the great work environment that birds provides to EMILY. The location is very, very clean at birds and the hospitality amongst the staff they go beyond what's needed. My suggestion to most people that need to receive a haircut to go here and get a haircut. Would definitely recommend not coming in here. The price would be decent if the haircut reflected the price. I only tipped out of courtesy, not because the haircut was any good. I went thinking this place had experienced hairstylist. I specifically asked what stylist would be best for my hair, and they recommended Manny. First, I had got there 30 minutes before my scheduled haircut, knowing that people generally take a little longer cutting my hair than usual. They said if I could wait the 30 minutes till my appointment, I said sure of course, took a seat and waited. My appointment was at 12:30, Manny wasn't even ready to cut my hair because he was on the previous person still until 12:50 Ish, then midway through my haircut. He had the audacity to tell me that we needed to hurry because he was 12 minutes over the allotted time to cut my hair and projected like it was my fault smh. Secondly, he continued to ask me if I had any pointers or tips to give him on how to cut my hair, even after the fact that I explained to him as easiest and simplest way that I could, how I wanted my hair to look. I assumed that if you had experienced as a level three, then you would understand how to cut hair. Third, he continued to trim little pieces of hair off with scissors, and then touch my hair, examining it. I asked him what he was doing, he said he was getting a feel for my hair or trying to learn my hair, or some sh*t like that, which was the reason why the haircut time took longer to begin with. It seemed like he was a five-year-old pretending to cut hair. Then when he was done, he asked what I thought and if I had any suggestions. I said, yes I wanted a haircut, don't be afraid to cut off the bulk of my hair, you can use the clippers to make it shorter. He seemed to have been offended, cause he got the clippers and just started hacking at my hair with them. Fourthly, I guess he was upset, because I continued to have to direct him, or give him additional instructions about how to cut my hair, as if he didn't even know what he was doing. So at this point, when the haircut was done, he got a beard trimmer to clean the back of my short neck hair, and very roughly scraped it up and down and around my neck. Which left my neck red and sore for about a day and a half afterwards. Not once did he use a razor to clean the back of my neck or neck hair, he didn't blend my hair right, and he didn't even ask if I wanted my side burns cut before cutting my sideburns, both uneven and way too short. He left my hair, looking like a hack job with a hatchet. The back of my neck hairline was uneven, he didn't ask me if I wanted it rounded or square cut, he just did a round cut, but left it uneven. There was also parts of my hair around my neck and ears that should have been trimmed up, but was left scraggly and uneven looking. My hair was so bad that my girlfriend had to fix everything the next day, including using a razor to properly clean around my neck. Basically don't go there, it's a huge waste of time, don't be like me, don't go waste your money or time smh read more

Call ahead or walk up I have had success many times. I wish they'd just take appointments already like the rest of the world and let me favorite my stylist and book them out months ahead because I would. I get a rather simple undercut that anyone could do which is why I write this review. I come for the stylist, Laura M aka "Jersey Girl" (to me), reminds me of home when I was younger. She is an amazing stylist and a good conversation. This makes Birds feel local to me and I'll keep coming for Laura M and the whole family at Birds EA on 6th. As soon as I arrived at the Plaza Saltillo station I literally ran to the location it showed me on the map which was two blocks from their new location. Love this location! The staff are all very friendly:) the interior was clean and neat. Bathrooms only for customers and covid guidelines are in place unless you've been vaccinated. Quite busy on the weekend so I would highly suggest calling in and making an appointment. I made an appointment and I had Erica cut my hair. I have a very high up undercut and I have it shaved. It's hard to find someone who keeps the lines clean and also doesn't cut the existing hair up top. She was lovely to chat with and is fantastic ! I highly recommend going and asking for Erica she has great vibes and made my experience there fun and relaxing.I appreciate how meticulous she was. I have been to other barbershops or places where they cut hair and one time I had someone take out my eyebrow and she was trying to do my sides lol luckily I have a good sense of humor and hair grows back but anyways that's not the point the point is ask for Erica at this location is fantastic and I'm definitely going to be going back! We took our 16 month old here for his first hair cut and had a phenomenal experience. The girls at the front desk were super friendly and offered us a refreshing drink straight away. They even gave us this little envelope to save a few of the baby locks. Our stylist, Miriam, was such a sweet soul and patient with our little one.
