Ignore all the 1-star reviews. If you want something fast on a Friday-Sunday night go to McDonalds. There is a reason things can take some time and why they are always packed - ITS GOOD FOOD (and it's a scratch kitchen where everything is prepared fresh). This is some of the best food in north county. Great vibe, indoor, patio and side walk seating. Just a straight up great locally owned and operated business - nothing else to it - Every dish I've had is phenomenal - Pad Se Ew, Chow Mein, Beef Pho, Pineapple Fried Rice with Curry powder is exquisite, bring a date and split a few plates. Or order for pickup and eat it at home. Eating in wait time for food usually like 20-30 mins (order an app, or a drink and chill). Togo orders usually around 45-90 mins. The food here is honestly great. The customer service is insanely terrible. Everyone is weirdly entitled and inconvenienced by you. And it's been like this for years. Today I placed an online order because the website showed an estimated wait time of 10-15 minutes. The second I submitted it, the estimate changed to 1 hour and 17 minutes. Had it said that from the start, I never would have placed the order. My husband was already on his way there. So I called right away, not to complain, but just to let them know there was clearly an issue with the system and to see if there was anything they could do. We ordered fried rice and spring rolls. That's it. Instead of, "Oh wow, sorry about that," I was immediately met with pushback. I was basically told the website didn't say that, even though I literally had a screenshot of it. The whole conversation felt weirdly argumentative for no reason. And honestly, this isn't the first time I've felt like customers are treated as an inconvenience here. I've been coming for years because the food is so good, but the customer service is consistently cold, dismissive, and sometimes just plain rude. Nobody expects perfection. Orders run behind. Things happen. But when a customer calls politely about a legitimate issue, the response shouldn't be to make them feel like they're crazy. At this point, Birdseye has some of my favorite food in Encinitas and some of my least favorite customer interactions. It's a shame because the food deserves better than the service. read more

Heard a lot of great things about Birdseye and was excited to go for a late lunch l. We managed to get in right before they closed their lunch service. I ordered pho and my partner ordered a steak plate. Food was good, but portions are small. We ended up eating again soon after. It's awesome that they source locally and use organic ingredients. We like to buy chicken PHO. We really do love it. We drive 7 miles there and back and spend an hour or so to get it. However, often times we get back and notice the very minimal amount of bean sprouts to go with our soup. This has happened on more than one occasion. Honestly this place is surprisingly so good. I had given up on good Asian food options in Encinitas so imagine my surprise when I got my dishes here and everything was authentic!? I got the pork cheek salad and the flavors are perfect, refreshing, and a not spicy version of the pork salads I had while living in Southeast Asia. I actually prefer no spicy because then you can tell the true skill of the chef and the flavors used. The crab fried rice was amazing, fresh off the wok and had wok flavor, exactly what I wanted. The beef pho was actually really good too - a lot of pho restaurants just use water and flavor packets for the "broth" - you can tell the flavoring is still used but the base is definitely a broth. The fact that they're organic/grass fed is the cherry on top. I'm surprised at the quality, this is what I would expect in a place like New York City, not a sleepy beach town. read more

Sunday lunch with my cousin. We were greeted and seated promptly as we walked in. We opted for patio seating to soak up the sunshine. I perused the menu in advanced so I knew exactly what I wanted. We started off with: Glass Noodle Shrimp Salad, Chicken wings, Grilled Lao Sausage with sticky rice. So many umptious umami flavors. I wish there was more dressing and shrimp on the salad. Ordered take out from here a while back and it was pretty good so we decided to go for lunch about two weeks ago. My husband and I got there about 11:45 on a slow Tuesday. There were only a few other tables of people but for some reason our food took almost 45 minutes. When it's a slow Tuesday there is no reason two people to wait 45 minutes for two dishes to come out. I've liked the house fried rice here. I had it with the shrimp and a few times once it was sandy and other times a bit chewy so I would recommend trying another protein. I was a little disappointed that they no longer offer you spiciness levels. You have to serve your own spices and oils. I was told by friends that we were dining with that it's due to too many customers sending their dishes back because they were too spicy. It's not a dealbreaker, but it is a slight inconvenience having to mix it in due to the generous portions not leaving much room for mixing. With the added spices and oils it's quite an enjoyable dish. I've also tried the Pad Thai and thought it was pretty good. Service has always been good and the ambience is lively but not rowdy. My colleague and I were in the mood for some hot beef noodle soup. We came across this restaurant while searching for "pho" on Yelp. This is a Thai-Laos-Vietnamese fusion restaurant. My colleague and I both ordered the Birdseye Margarita. She had the Beef Pho (Vietnamese style) and I ordered the Beef Noodle Soup (Thai style). We both enjoyed our cocktails and noodle soup. What I liked about my noodle soup was that it had a lot of bamboo shoots. It was large portion and was incredibly satisfying. The broth was flavorful and tasted like it had been stewed overnight to release the sweetness from the beef bones. My only negative remark is that the soup was a bit on the greasy side for me. I would have appreciated if the fat was skimmed out to give a cleaner, less oily broth. Overall, it was satisfying and hit the spot! I look forward to trying out other dishes here. The restaurant was really busy when we arrived on a Tuesday night at 8:30pm. There was a waitlist, but since there were only 2 of us, we only had to wait about 10 minutes before we were seated. The ambiance was casual yet classy. I noticed there were tables on the patio in front of the restaurant; however, they were unoccupied (perhaps due to the cooler weather). We love Birdseye because the Thai and Asian cuisine is so authentic and flavorful. It is completely Gluten Free which is why we go there, I'm a Celiac so totally safe! No MSG either which is so great. Sydney our server was so friendly, kind, attentive and just a joy! We hope we are sested with her again when we go back. Came here for lunch today. I wasn't wanting the traditional curry entree but did want the curry flavor. Was super excited to see that they had curry noodles on the menu! This one had the red curry and came with shrimp. Some of the positives: good flavor and came with noodles instead of rice. On the flip side, some feedback (I wouldn't say negative because overall this was a good dish) would be to add more broth to the bowl. My dish was noodle heavy. I didn't have much broth to work with 1/2 way through the entree. Another thing was that it only had 2 shrimp in the dish. Maybe a couple more would be ideal. Last thing, I would have liked to see this being served with vermicelli noodles instead of the rice noodles (pho noodles) that it came with. That's just a personal preference though, nothing bad about the noodles in general. With that said, solid 4 star and I would come back here when I'm craving curry noodle soup! Their pad see ew with pork belly was unlike any other - so incredibly flavorful with huge chunks of pork belly and the tastiest sauce. Not dry at all. The ambiance is on point and I so badly wish they had a location in south OC where I'm from! Street parking was not that bad on a Sunday but I can imagine it gets quite packed. Just the most gorgeous place for a fun and delicious meal with family or friends. Their mango sticky rice was delicious as well and the perfect treat to round off our lunch down in Encinitas.
