Found my new asian food spot. What a surprise. My colleague and I were in the mood for Chinese food and found this restaurant and thought we'd give it a try. Everything we ordered was awesome! Our server (who was super friendly) recommended the Shrimp & Pork Shumai for the appetizer. She also suggested the Thai drunken noodle. Oh man, this was one of the best drunken noodle I've ever had (w/chicken). My colleague ordered the Crispy Mandarin Chicken and he also said it was delicious. I got food to go. We got an appetizer, Hong Kong BBQ pork bun, which neither of us liked. It is a fluffy soft bun filled with pork. We ordered a Pad Thai Shrimp and Thai Drunken combo- beef, chicken and shrimp. These dishes were good. I liked the flavors of the Thai Drunken combo. My boyfriend ate his whole dish, the Pad Thai shrimp, so I didn't get a taste. He said we probably won't order from them again, but it is close by and it tasted good. I live in Alhambra ca, so I'm used to some seriously good Asian food and this place holds its own. The noodles were excellent, and the crunchy garlic beef was especially good... packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. I ordered takeout, and the whole process was super easy and smooth. Cute little spot to stop and have lunch of even take out food. We tried the chili pork dumplings which were very flavorful and good. The chili sauce they had more of a garlic flavor than spicy. I also got the orange chicken lunch special and wow! It was a lot of food even for a lunch special. You have the option of either chicken or tofu, salad or veggie egg roll, I thought this was a really good lunch special option! I've spent a lot of time in Carlsbad and had no idea there was a Chinese Restaurant right off the busy El Camino Real and La Costa intersection. Was craving Chinese with my buddy on a chilly fall weekday evening and we were not disappointed! Got seated immediately at 6:30 pm and we ordered: - Crispy Mandarin Orange Chicken $15.95 - Szechuan Noodle Beef $16.95 - BBQ Pork Bao $8.95 Service was friendly and efficient. Awful on Monday Sep 7. If we had dined in we would have returned it. Noodles on both Drunken Noodles and Pad see ew were mushy and sticky - probably way over cooked. Both also lacked flavor. What a great place. I walked from my hotel and it was about a 10 min stroll. I was craving some Asian food and this is a small quaint place. The food was awesome and so was the service! I had the chili pork dumplings and Mongolian beef. It all came out freshly made and super hot. She recommended the chili pork dumplings and they were fire!! So good. We popped in here last night for dinner on our way to the Omni resort which is very close by. The food here was so delicious and enjoyed by all of us. I had two kids with me who love Asian food and can handle spicy food. My son ordered the General Tsao chicken and they warned him it was spicy and then actually delivered on the spice which made him happy. I had the drunken Thai noodles that were so light and delicious with a good kick of chili again, white meat chicken and loads of vegetables. The pork wonton soup was also loaded with veggies and had such a delicious and light broth. I could eat that every day. We had bbq pork buns and Mongolian beef as well at our table and they were also so yummy. If you are looking for some different flavors with a fusion of Thai and Chinese this is your place. Service was great. They were slammed with to go orders and we were behind a few other tables seeing as we arrived late and we still received our food quick enough and everything was very hot. Lovely people serving us also. The restaurant had a kind of fast casual feel to it, but it's very clean and they have some good wine on their drink list which was a nice surprise. Incidentally if you are going to stay at the Omni like we were and you have a kitchen, this restaurant is in the same center as a Gelsons and you can grab some things to take with you to your room. Overall the dishes were pricey, but I'm sure it's comparable for the location. I wouldn't really recommend the dim sum as our 2 pork buns was almost $9. We got them just cus my kids wanted it. Custard buns were okay. I'm sure you can find them in any freezer section of an Asian market. We really enjoyed the pad see ew, general tsao chicken, and bbq pork wonton noodle soup. I really liked the soup because it was flavorful and full of fresh vegetables. Ordered thai curry and pad thai noodles. Curry had the texture, look, and taste of jarred yellow gravy with just a hit of curry/coconut flavor. Very bland and off putting. Noodles were starchy and clumped into a tangled mass. That was also bland and lacked the thai flavor we're accustomed to at other places. Service was friendly and helpful. Wish my water glass was filled more often. The portions are on the small size but what's strange is that because of the ingredients and flavors, we were stuffed. Beef dishes needed to be chewed more than I expected but that was a part of what made it good. Slower eating because of very fresh vegetables and seasoning. Pad Thai with shrimp...noodles were stickier than I've had but that made them more filling. Cashew Nut with beef had a big variety of fresh veggies. Crispy beef with fried basil was surprisingly good. Came with a sweet and salty sauce along with snow peas. We tried this cute new spot this evening and absolutely loved it and can't wait to go back. Excellent mix of Chinese, Vietnamese, and Thai with TONS of gluten free options and highly knowledgeable staff! When the menu noted they could do gluten free options I expected them to say the curry and pad thai were gluten free (which both were) but was shocked when they said they had gluten free alternatives for about 80% of the menu! The gluten free crispy mandarin orange chicken was delicious, and my family that can eat gluten confirmed it was almost indistinguishable from the original recipe which we also ordered. They also had lots of vegan options and a great drink selection, the thai iced tea and pineapple mango lemonade were both delicious. Very reasonably priced and huge portions too. I can't wait to go back and try more gluten free options! Edit: This has become our go to takeout spot and the general tso's gluten free crispy tofu is my absolute favorite! Tried this place a couple of times now and it's been a good experience each time. Located where Thai Pasta used to be in the strip mall by Broken Yolk off La Costa Ave. & El Camino Real. The employees have been very kind and friendly and we've been seated promptly. It's not that big of a place so if you go during busy hours you might have to wait, since seating is limited and is not good for groups with more than 4 people. The decor is nice and ambiance is warm. There's many different menu items, like an asian fusion. Various dishes from China, Thailand, Vietnam, etc. The prices and portions are very good. We tried various dishes like fried tofu, Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, Veggie Wonton soup and they were all full flavored and delicious, and each person liked what they ordered. I ordered my favorite dish, Panang Curry. The server asked what level and I said zero. Now, I've had Panang Curry at many other restaurants and the spice level is exactly what I've expected. But here, it was more like a level 4 spice (validated by my spice-loving companions). I told the server and she brought it back to the cook and was told that the paste they use is already how it is, so it can't be adjusted. Hence why I've given this place 4 stars. They really need to let the customer know this before ordering. Despite the spice, the Panang curry itself was delicious. The sauce was more like a gravy, definitely different than other restaurants. I am really disappointed though that I won't be able to have Panang Curry here, since it's my absolute favorite dish. I was glad that they offered to replace the dish with something I could actually eat. Overall, it's a really good place, definitely better than what it replaced. Highly recommend! read more

I saw the reviews and thought I'd give it a try. It's a quaint little place with very nice service. They have a separate gluten free menu which you need to ask for. I wanted to get the crispy mandarin orange chicken (coated with cornstarch) which was on the list, but I was informed that the oil they use for it is shared. So... unfortunately I couldn't get it. I got the gluten free Mongolian beef instead and it was tasty, even more so when you pour some of that chili sauce on it. How have we overlooked this restaurant? Our new favorite Chinese/Thai place in the area. We have not had a bad meal here (so far). My current favorites are the Sesame Honey Tofu and the Tofu Pad See Ew. The tofu is crispy, they seem to use cornstarch instead of a batter when frying it. Fast, friendly and efficient service.
