Another good example of a great place that we have been to before and enjoyed going back again (and again). Everyone knows the Frontier, but did you all know that there are just a few days between the end of classes at UNM and the start of new classes, when you can actually get a place to park in their lots? We didn't either, but we found out and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves walking up to the counter without having to wait in line for the terrific food and reasonable prices. Great food, efficient bussing service, and a thoroughly interesting ambiance tilted heavily towards John Wayne. Highly recommended (again) and with a new YouTube video review from the boys at the VA Creative Writing Group. https://youtu.be/3qr4vfk-eWg?si=L-k-g5mexWa6MU62

The Frontier is a staple in the University area in Albuquerque. That large warm buttery cinnamon roll. I had not been to the Frontier in probably 10 years. The menu looked upgraded. Lots of soda options and all the cool decor in every room. Same calling system when your food is ready. Felt like stepping back in time. Lite Huevos Ranchero's with red chili it was just enough to fill my belly. Great company, great service. The place was clean and workers constantly cleaning. Cinnamon roll wasn't as good as I remembered. Maybe because I waited too long after the microwave warm up.

You know, when I think about the Frontier, I think about their burritos, tacos, green chile stew, and carne adovada. These are all solid choices; basically, everything on the menu is solid. Their green chile competes with the best. They are known throughout the land for their sweet rolls (cinnamon rolls). But I always forget about their breakfast dishes ... and their hamburgers. I don't even know what the Copy Cat is, except guessing that it's a vegetarian alternative? So finally, I recently went to the Frontier specifically to try one of their breakfasts. It was the #1: two eggs (scrambled), hash browns, bacon, and whole wheat toast (instead of the flour tortilla). It's just a basic breakfast, but there's a reason it's on the menu of probably every restaurant in the US. They offer carne adovada as one of the meat options. It always sounds like a lot more food, but it probably isn't overwhelming in this dish. I loved the meal. They know how to make scrambled eggs right (though no one can top my dad's). The hash browns were perfect, and the bacon was outstanding. True confessions: I still need to try their burgers. Next time! The food is worth it, and the price is reasonable since it's across the street from UNM, and mostly students go here. The service has always been great. I like how you have to wait for the green light to turn on before walking up to one of the many cashiers to place your order. I like the down-to-earth atmosphere of a college-centric, oversized, divey diner, with its booths and oddly placed stools at some tables. The place is a legend.

Walked by Frontier and couldn't resist grabbing the green Chile breakfast burrito. I love how they have their walk up window. Perfect option for when you are in a hurry and just need to grab and go. Frontier's employees got it going on when comes to quick and friendly service. Even with the breakfast rush, my burrito came out quick.. and as always so good. Gotta love this Nob Hill staple.

I don't think Frontier has the best food in New Mexico, but it's definitely an Albuquerque staple and worth a visit for the experience alone. It's fascinating to see how smoothly the whole system runs! Don't be intimidated by the long lines. They move fast, and there are even signs showing estimated wait times depending on where you're standing. There's plenty of parking in the back, and tables are cleaned quickly between guests. We decided to share several items: the famous cinnamon roll, a breakfast burrito, carne adovada burrito, green chili hash browns, and the Frontier burrito. Since I can't handle spicy food, I asked for the chili sauce on the side for my breakfast burrito. Surprisingly, our favorite ended up being the carne adovada burrito which is the red chili-marinated pork, it had a bit of heat but was delicious! The green chili hash browns were also really tasty. The cinnamon roll, however, was a little bland, and the Frontier burrito felt too heavy. Service was quick and friendly, prices were affordable, and overall, it's a fun local experience you should try at least once when in Albuquerque.

not what I like in a New Mexican taco. I'll stick with Los Cuates or Cervantes.

Don't know why I walked in there again, well, I needed to use the restroom, so I thought I would try their tacos. Very water meat that sogs the crispy tortilla. Just like Taco Bell, yet the worst seasoning in the meat, heartburn that's for sure.

Wow! We were really impressed with Frontier. It's in a sketch neighborhood, we were kinda worried seeing all the security. But forgot once we were inside. We were excited to try them out considering they've been the longest running restaurant. We ordered: Enchilada w/xmas sauce, red/green Bean/cheese burrito Frontier cheeseburger Green chile stew Fries Fresh tortillas OMG, everything was so damn good! We really appreciated the worker lady who was so attentive towards us. She was like a momma from another poppa! Frontier lived up to the hype and we could not believe how fast we got our food and how good it all was!

Frontier is a delightful Albuquerque classic. Well the line looks long when you enter, it moves fast and the food comes out promptly. The enchiladas were delicious and it was an overall great experience. A wonderful amount of food for the amount that you spend as well. I would certainly recommend stopping here if you're in Albuquerque for both the food and the experience!

This place was busy, but the line moved efficiently. I can see why it's as busy as it is! The food is glorious. Definitely coming back next time I'm in the ABQ.

We were in the area and wanted to try this place. You wait in line to order and then find your table. The line moves pretty fast so don't get worried about how long the line is. My wife had the breakfast burrito and said it was very good. I had eggs and sausage and thought the sausage was something they would serve at a school. It's a very popular place but it's wouldn't make a special trip to eat there again

Loved it! Got the vegetarian burrito without cheese with the green chile and it came with an extra tortilla with a honey packet. The fluffy tortillas here are made fresh to order. I was told by the restaurant they are lard free but I heard elsewhere they might have dairy (I didn't ask at the restaurant). It was fun to watch the tortillas being made fresh! The green chile had some spice which we really enjoyed and the beans were very flavorful. I loved looking at the paintings in the different rooms in the big restaurant.

The Frontier is a New Mexico treasure. In house fresh flour tortillas and prices have stayed reasonable for college kids across the street. I personally like to get the green chili stew with a cinnamon roll on the side. Combined ownership with the also successful Golden Pride establishments will ensure that it will be around for a long time. A must try. Always busy but they have plenty of parking.

This is a pharmacy/store/diner with a very good local vibe. The pharmacy has a bit of everything, from books, jewelry, and toys, to clothing, decor, and kitchen stuff. And when we thought there was no space for a diner, we found where the magic takes place just around the corner, where we were welcomed and seated. People were friendly, kitchen staff were getting stuff out quickly, and our server was ok. Efficiency was a clear target for everyone and our food was on our table in no time. For food, our friends ordered the breakfast burritos (with red only and a Christmas version), , the hubs ordered the carne adobada, and I ordered the tamal plate with red and green, just like I like I like it . Everyone was pleased with their choices. The burritos were big and tasty. The carne adobada had a lot of deliciously marinated pork and the steamed potatoes were quite a good addition. The tortilla with butter was simple yet delicious, with a firm and thick tortilla. The tamal plate was almost perfect. The red and green sauces were amazing, but I was slightly partial to the spicier green chile sauce. The masa on the tamales was firm and good. If there was one change I would make, it would be for the tamales to have more filling. Overall, we had a good experience at a very unique place! Mary and Tito's, Padilla's, New Mexico Beef Jerky Company, Hot Tamales, and Tomasita's. Only Sadie's and El Pinto are more expensive at around $20 for a cheese enchilada and you probably won't get complimentary chips and salsa there either. Not being cheap but for the money, I'd rather have a killer lunch at 66 Diner.
