I went there for lunch the first time and had a wonderful experience. I had the Del Mar tacos and they were excellent. Everyone in our party really liked what they ordered. The service was great as was the atmosphere with the beautifully painted walls. I will take my hubby back for dinner!

Took a friend for her birthday. We ordered the chicharon (sp?) and guacamole for an appetizer. Crunchy bites with great guacamole! I was there for a Saturday lunch, and we were given a brunch menu. I had 2 eggs over easy over a tortilla with chorizo underneath and a bean cake with plantain chips and beans on the side. Fantastic! Eggs cooked perfectly! Good kick to the chorizo! I've been here three times now. Always very nice wait staff, always greeted by owner, and always good food. My one friend eats GF diet, and she can eat everything on the menu!

The ambiance is pretty great on the inside considering it's a strip mall. It has a cute patio and dogs look to be welcome, we saw bowls. The service is outstanding, very friendly. The food was very good classic Mexican dishes and beautiful. The only complaint was that we went for lunch and had in mind what we wanted but were given brunch menus which were very different. All three menus were posted outside but none had hours on them.

I forgot the name of the dishes because honestly I forgot to review it . Me and hubby visited Herencia last summer for lunch. As we walked in we were immediately greeted and seated. The restaurant was nice, clean and welcoming. When we were first seated they brought over a starter that had some tortillas pieces and 3 salsas to taste. I honestly can't recall the taste of the salsas but I thought it was odd that the tortilla pieces were cold and not crispy. I do recall ordering 4 empanadas that all had a different filling inside and I remember enjoying 3 of them very much. Hubby's dish was absolutely stunning. I remember him giving me a taste of his beef and it tasted as if it had been cooking for hours to achieve the flavors that were deeply infused into it. It was absolutely delectable alongside with the rice and squash it came with. The owner did stroll by our table and asked if everything was to our liking. You can tell he is very proud of his dishes and with flavors like these - he should be! I do remember it being kinda pricey for lunch due to the small portion sizes but you are paying for quality here so just keep that in mind. We haven't been back since last summer maybe it's time to give it another try

Came in from El Paso to check out the area and had a great meal and time! Our server was great she made great recommendations and pairings. It was a packed restaurant but we sat immediately, everything was super fresh and they first served heirloom blue corn tortillas with salsas. My steak was amazing with the cheese sauce, not spicy just the right amount of flavor! My husband loved the meats, he's said it was the best Al pastor he's ever had. Great wine selection as well! They have a patio with tables but it was really cold outside. Great place, we believe it was the owner or maybe manager, but he came to everyone's table and thanked us for being there and asked us how everything was, which was phenomenal! The fresh flowers and micro greens on everything was amazing! Will be back here everytime now.

First the business hours listed on their yelp page are incorrect so don't go by that, we had a great dinner on Thursday night. This place is refreshing the service is punctual and kind. The water is served chilled ice cold without ice, small detail but a good sign for you water drinkers like myself. They play classic lounge music and Frank Sinatra the decor is very pleasant, and the plate presentation is great. The food tasted great. Well prepared, not your typical Mexican food and a very good change of pace. No complaints, the prices are a little higher than your typical Mexican restaurant but you're not having the same experience here. We will be back.

Everything here is delicious, from their starter of tortilla and salsa options to entrees to the many flan options, I thoroughly enjoyed everything I ate here. I highly recommend the chuleta on the dinner menu! Will definitely be back to try other meals and menu items. Service was great, and the whole atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable.

If you want fresh, quality culinary Mexican and all gluten free menu options and the greatest hospitality, must dine at Herencia at least 4 times out of the month like I do ;) this place is a gem and my go to spot for Mexican. The price points are completely fair for the quality & what they offer, I highly recommend Herencia for authentic culinary Mexican!

My husband and I went on a Saturday night and did not have to wait long to be seated. The service was good but slow and they seemed to forget us at times. Henrique is sweet and came around to all the tables to check on everyone. The food was good. My husband had the taco appetizer which consisted of 4 mini tacos which were all delicious. I had the mole which was good, however after being spoiled by a particular Santa Fe restaurant and their mole, I have high standards for mole. My other issue was I asked for a tortilla which didn't come until we were ready to go. I thought I was getting the soft ones my hubby had but instead got the blue corn ones which were very hard and not made to eat with mole. The veggies and rice were yummy. I have been with some girlfriends for lunch another time and my food was better at that visit. We will go back and try other items. The place was packed and had a beautiful mural on the far wall.

Amazingly delicious elevated Mexican food with exceptional service. I'd been hearing good things about this place and had it on my need-to-go list for a while before my friend and I finally made time to cross town to try it out. It was well worth the visit! Everything we had was plated beautifully and tasted even more delicious than it looked. It is nice to find a place like this which stands out from the rest in the quality of ingredients, choice of combinations of flavors, and skill in plating. We will definitely be back as I immediately added it to my expanding list of favorite restaurants.

This was the first time I used the reservations feature on Yelp (seamless)! Herencia means heritage and it is easy to see this is important ti Henrique, the chef/owner. A painting of his mother on one wall and his grandmother on another. The menu items are some of the most varied and unique I've seen in the Duke City in a long time! It is Mexican cuisine with a family twist. Pro tip, order the table side Ceasar Salad. The Bacalao a la Bilbania and the Pallard de Pollo if you are lucky, Augustine will be your Herencia guide!

Tried the new place based off of the reviews from Facebook. Presentation wise, the restaurant and food looks amazing. It's trying very hard to be "posh". If you want pretty, fine dining, smaller portions of food, this place is for you. If you are really hungry, go elsewhere. That being said, the chips and salsa are interesting. I enjoyed the variety of the three flavors for the salsas. Wasn't a fan of the soggy chips. I tried the crab enchiladas (2) and the sauce was incredible. The zucchini veggie side was my favorite of the entire experience. The rice was ok. Just green rice. The only drawback was....i was still hungry after eating it all. Like, very hungry. Flavor yes. Filling no.

We took a table in the entry way, not in the main restaurant. It was a quaint spot overlooking the patio section out front of the restaurant. A server met us, took our drink order, and we placed a few appetizer orders. We got some chile con queso, and the chicharron. They initially brought out the queso in two small plastic to-go containers. I was not very thrilled with that. Then, when we polished them off, they brought out some more in a small serving dish. Why we didn't get the dish in the first place is beyond me. The queso was good, but I didn't think much of the chicharron. My husband like it though. The server did an excellent job keeping our drinks filled. We placed our order, and it wasn't too long that our orders came out. I got the combination plate, red sauce, ground beef taco. My husband thought he ordered the enchilada plate, but the chile relleno plate came out instead. He told them that was fine. The ground beef taco was so delicious. The chile relleno was pretty good, and the cheese enchiladas were okay, even though it was like they were barely there. The pinto beans, not refried beans, were also enjoyed. What really set them apart was their papas - those potatoes were soft and super flavorful. Their red sauce was spicy and flavorful. The server brought out two fresh and hot sopapillas. We poured honey on those things bite by bite. I honestly think those were the best sopapillas I've had. I also used the restroom before we left. It might need a little updating, but it was certainly clean.

My parents lived in ABQ for years and always thought that the atmosphere was great, but the food was so-so. However, on this instance, we all thought the food was quite good. Flavorful carne adovada, although it was a bit tough. Red chile sauce was spicy but had great flavor. The green chile sauce was hot and tasty. Posole was also good. The gold margaritas were also good - to anyone complaining about the price - at $14.50, the price is very fair considering the cost of ingredients. If you want a cheap junk margarita that is more sugar than anything else, go somewhere else! Our gripe... The place is huge and has an abundance of great places to seat guests. We had a pretty large group - 7 people celebrating a family reunion of sorts. However, they sat us right next to the bussing station that had noisy carts, dishwashers, and other distractions. It was so loud, it was hard to hear the person across the table. There were at least 10 other tables that they could have seated us at! It seems to me that this area should be used only when the restaurant is completely full. This seems to be a poor management decision rather than the fault of the servers or hosts.
