Found out they had a location here in AZ, so you know as a Cali native we had to try this place out. Location-they have indoor seating, outdoor seating, a drive through. Staff were friendly. Greeted us and attentive. You order at the counter and they bring you your food to your table. Wait time was a mere two minutes if that. Food was good. Portions were big. The meat was nice and tender had a great flavor alone and when topped off with onion, cilantro, lime and salsa=perfection. We tried the Birria plate-comes with rice and beans and tortillas. We also tried the Keto Birria taco and the Quesatacos. The keto taco was pretty big and didn't expect it to be that large. All tacos were packed with meat and the quesatacos were double tortilla so super filling. I've also ordered the small consome(broth) which was big for a small and definitely shareable. I tried the Jamaica which was good not too sweet and just right. We arrived shortly after opening. Only two families in dining. The location was clean and plenty of seating. I went through the drive through right at 11am when they opened. I was greeted by Edna over the order system. She was nice but her accent was a little difficult to understand. I ordered 1 of each of the 4 tacos listed. Once I got my order after paying, I noticed she only put 3 so I went back through the line again to get the last one. Was a little bummed she charged me since it was her mistake but neither hear nor there. They were all delicious although they were so greasy they upset my tummy. But I think that kinda might be the point with the tortillas being made in the juice from the meet if I'm not mistaken. I am not sure how I have not experienced Birrieria Xolos before, but it will definitely be in my rotation moving forward! My cousin was visiting in town, and has lived in the area, but was looking to try something new! She found Birrieria Xolos on Yelp, and the photos cemented the choice. Originally, I was not going to get anything, but their Birria Pizza was speaking to me.....and it did not disappoint! They only offer one size, I think plenty for 3-4, as it's quite filling and enough for each person to have 2-3 slices, but leftovers are never bad! We grabbed it to go, their drive through makes it easy and is a nice change of pace for some quality mexican cuisine with authentic flavors. In addition, they wrapped up everything so well. Liquids and saucy dishes can be tough sometimes, especially if the biz doesn't offer quality to go containers. Though it was primarily just foam containers ( Not a big fan personally) They did wrap up the consume in plastic as well to keep the lids and any major leakage. They also included additional fixing from limes, cilantro, onion, small foam to go plates and tortillas wrapped. I have not had a birria pizza before, so I do not have anything to compare it to, but the massive quesadilla base, with birria sprinkled all on top, along with cilantro, cheese and pickled red onion, it's definitely a way I would continue to get my birria fix! The menu offerings include plenty of a la cart iems, classic sides and one combo. I would enjoy trying some of their other items, but honestly may not be able to divert from the pizza! read more

Ok so honestly I had no idea what to expect. I saw a picture on Yelp and I was thinking about it the next day. So I decided to try it! This is a review from a white person so forgive me for being uncultured. In the pictures, it looked like a crispy taco so I honestly had no idea how juicy they'd be! They tasted wonderful. The packaging was smart. Everything was individually wrapped, the cilantro, limes, onions, salsa? I'm trying to remember everything in the bag because it was thorough for sure. The menu is not great to understand what your getting , The tacos look very small like street tacos on the menu so I ordered four and a side of beans a small side . The bill came out to 25 bucks which is fine if the food was great . The tacos were big. All of them were drenched in Grease and the bottom fell out of tacos . Instead of a small side of beans, I got a large side of rice, which was bland despite me putting some of the meat in the taco because they were edible into the rice. It did not fix the rice. Managed to get half of a taco down and I just couldn't do it anymore . $25 down the drain. Also, the lady that took my order was really short with me. Apparently they do not do sour cream. There are so many taco shops and restaurants opening its hard to keep track! Xolos is one of the better ones. I got three queso Birria with consume and three Birria. Both were very good and loaded with meat! Only thing all of it needed was a little salt. Juicy and tender meat. Not at all dry. Came with red salsa along with all the condiments. Salsa had a nice kick! The six tacos and a small consume came to a total of 26 $. Decent price for what you get. Good place to try! read more

First time trying this place, and I was not disappointed. They only serve birria. Luckily, the birria is really good. I ordered birria ramen and a taco dorado. My bf ordered 3 tacos. They do not skimp on the meat. My bf said he should have just ordered 2 because he was really full afterward. The ramen was huge and could easily be split. Again, they do not skimp on the meat. The ramen had so many chunks of meat. I think for the amount of food you get, they are very reasonably priced. I enjoyed both the ramen and the taco dorado, but the ramen was my favorite. I also appreciated that the cashier (Sara) checked on us and asked if we enjoyed our meal. I will definitely be returning and will be recommending this place to friends and family. read more

We just tried this place and we're not disappointed. We got birria tacos with consume, it came out fast, fresh and steaming hot. The tacos were packed with meat and came with condiments to add on to your taste. The consume had chunks of birria meat and portions were huge. The meat itself was flavorful and they give you salsa to spice it up if that's your thing. Service was great. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The owner came around to everyone at one point and made sure everything was good, which we appreciated since it let us ask questions. The restaurant itself was setup like a higher end fast food joint. Get your own fountain drinks and napkin dispensers on the tables. Every was bright and clean with large booths. Seriously, the worst birria I've ever tried. Meat seemed old, it was dry and hard to chew. They poured a lot of the consomé on the meat to make it look juicy. The taste was unpleasantly bad. Super good Birria! The only thing on the whole menu is just different options for consuming Birria, and they totally deliver! We were huge fans of the quesotacos, and we loved the salsa and toppings that came with the meal. When the food was brought to the table, and we saw all the toppings wrapped in a small plastic bag on the side of our meal, we knew we made a good choice for lunch. Only one option for salsa that we were aware of but it was really flavorful and really spicy! I don't know what it is with all these birria places but they do not skimp on the portion sizes, all the tacos felt like they could've been two(2) tacos of their own, so you definitely get your money's worth out of it. Been wanting to try this place and I've seen mixed reviews, mostly good. I was immediately greeted upon entering. The place is a good medium size location with several tables and everything appeared clean. The menu is fairly simple with several items featuring Birria. I opted for their Queso tacos and mulita to go. The order was up fairly quickly and the food held up pretty good for my drive home. While the meat was tender, seasoned well and the corned tortillas held up fairly well and I thought the amount of food given was worth the price. But, I have to say that the packing choice was not the best. The orders were just placed on flat Styrofoam (like butcher/meat containers) and a piece of foil to cover. So needless to say, food drippings were all over the bag. To my surprise, I was disappointed that they do not include a cup of the consume to accompany the birria tacos; seriously how much is it to include a 4oz cup or something or at least advise the consumer, it doesn't come with it. I did see that it was available ala carte, but didn't think that I had to order that separately. Then the toppings (cilantro, chopped onions & pickle onions) were pre-portioned and packed in plastic baggies and one small salsa (the only item that was placed in the industrial solo cups), so for the amount of food I ordered, I was only given two sets of toppings (my personal opinion, there should be additional salsas, at minimum). So, overall, I would say the food was good (tasting and amount of food). Value is ok, since you have to order consume separately for birria tacos. Packing is less than satisfied/borderline cheap & lazy. Also, heads up, this establishment does charge service fee (and it's posted on their Point of Sale, inside) if you use a credit card; doesn't bother me, since I pay cash...but I know some folks like to know upfront. read more

We were the only car in the drive through and waited half an hour, received our food and drove the 20 minutes back home determined and hungry, opened our bags and they forgot a whole quesadilla, the limes were dry and brown, the onions were slimy and already decomposing, gave us an ounce of cilantro for SEVEN of the $4 quesabirria tacos, the pickled onions were BROWN (see photos) and the salsa smelled like they added something to it possibly to cover the old smell of it. all in all didn't trust the meat so we didn't eat any of our $70 order. THE BEST BIRRIA!! I stopped in this place about 3 months ago and I go back whenever I want birria, best I've had. I drive in from Apache Junction and it's worth the drive.
