OMG the tacos here were delicious! Beans and rice were also yummy. They have a mild and spicy salsa which were both yummy. Good flavor and the right amount of heat. Got lucky because we happen to show up the day before their 3 year anniversary and found out that tacos would be $0.99 on their anniversary. Returned the next day to get more tacos and ate one of every type of meat. They were all good, but the pastor and carne asada stood out the most for me. read more

WOW!!! Let me tell you, I've been looking for a good taco joint cause I can't ever find one with good food and reasonable prices till I found Golden Taco! They are a small place with bangin food! One of the best things I love about them is how simple their menu is Holy moly! You will see the picture of the menu and see what I'm talking about! The tastiest tacos on Power Road-West Valley! Arrived around lunch time and ordered 3 tacos-birria, carne asada, and pollo plus side of rice and beans. My husband had two carne asada tacos, I had 1 carne asada taco and one pastor taco. We shared chips with salsa and guacamole. The green salsa we had was not good, and the guacamole was very bland. We loved the carne asada, but did not care for the pastor at all. I've had pastor before and this just did not have a good flavor. The place was little, but clean. Lots of toppings on tacos make them taste really good, but what is more impressive, is when tacos have just the basic toppings and taste absolutely delicious!! We went back to Golden Taco a few days ago and got takeout. The Birria is really the best I've ever had. With just onions, cilantro and a squeeze of lime on top, they are fabulous! I don't think it was my review that got them to have two tortillas instead of one for the Birria, but they have done it and this helped the Birria be much less soggy by the time it got home. We are so lucky this place opened pretty close to us in East Mesa. They now have some tables inside and out so we will be trying to dine in soon. We asked for lettuce and tomato and would have had better luck asking for caviar. Taco Tuesday offers $2 tacos which is basically a scoop of meat over a very small corn or flour taco. Tried this taco place for the first time. Overall it's not bad, but it is very average. The tacos used some nice fresh tortilla and their corn and flour both taste homemade. The guacamole was the major disappointment, it tastes like store bought Safeway guacamole that has a plastic aftertaste from the container it comes in. This was a big detractor on the overall meal quality, as the burrito and fish taco come with the same guacamole sauce that just does not taste fresh and ends up bringing the overall flavor down. Service was friendly and fast at least, so if you are looking for a quick fix this place is an okay choice, but if you are looking for something more authentic there are better options. read more

The interior is a pretty chill, albeit blank. There's room to add personality, but what truly shines is the food. Me and my family had the Birria Tacos & Beef Tacos with some Consommé, and it was absolutely worth it. ~$4 for the Birria, and ~$2.49 for the Beef (mind you, it was a Tuesday deal), they were loaded with flavor. Wait time was fairly standard, ~20-30 minutes for 10 tacos in total from what I remember. The meat had a nice chew that allowed the flavors to shine through without going down too smooth or feeling like rubber. However, the thing that surprised me the most was their hot sauces--they had red and green, but they weren't overpowered in vinegar and you could actually taste the peppers that were inside. My only gripe was the airflow in the building--me and my friend was waiting inside and it grew oddly hot while waiting, enough that we needed to buy fountain drinks while we relaxed. So disappointed to be giving this score :( Had high hopes for this places, reviews were good and pictures looked great, I even saw that they have a taco Tuesday deal that I was planning to cash in on regularly after just researching this place; unfortunately, we did not have an experience that reflected that. We ordered chicken tacos and birria tacos, neither of which were very good. The chicken tacos were not good: lacking in flavor and meat felt cheap and rubbery while I was eating it. The presentation of the birria tacos is incredible, they really look as good as they do in the pictures, and they had people walking by asking us what we ordered so they could try it, but they too don't live up to the hype. It feels like birria is the latest trend, and every taco place is trying to cash in, but this was a swing and a miss for us. The one thing that we did enjoy was the green tomatillo salsa, but even though we doused our tacos in that stuff just to choke them down, it couldn't really rescue the experience. The menu does look incredible, the pictures of the food and even seeing it on peoples tables as you walk by look like they'd all be delicious, and it seemed like a decent place to sit down and eat dinner at. I have some optimism that there may be a few items on the menu that are enjoyable, but I won't be back to give it another shot because the service was quite poor. This reminds me of what it would be like eating a homemade meal in your moms kitchen. The burrito was plump and flavorful, and the pork and chicken tacos were the perfect size for a late lunch. The Golden Taco is a brand new small taco shop opened on Power Road just south of McKellips. The facility is clean and crisp. The staff is warm and helpful. And the food is perfect combination of excellent meats as a base for any of the tacos, burritos, quesadillas or full plates you desire. We stopped at Golden Taco today simply because we were driving by and our son mentioned having heard it was good. Am I glad we stopped. The three of us ordered our food, sat down and everything was prepared hot and very quick. I had a pastor (marinated pork) burrito with a csrne asada taco. It was excellent. My wife had a birria burrito and she really enjoyed it (she is a picky eater). My son ordered the carne asada burrito and a birria taco. He loved his food as well. I ordered chips and salsa for us to share as well. One of my favorite things is to taste new salsas. Their red salsa is a traditional burnt pepper flavor cut with a tinge of sharp citric. The verde salsa is a thinner cilantro infused taste as well. I really think their red salsa is excellent and with a genuine kick. The prices were reasonable but higher than the chain mexican drive throughs, which is fine since the food is much much better. I would say for those familiar with Backyard Taco or a more authentic type of fresh grilled mexican food this place would be to your liking. This was a jome run for me. I will be back. Really only posting this to try and correct the 4.5 stars it currently has because these tacos are not worthy of 4.5 stars. They were bland (so much so every table had a salt shaker on it), the meat had no real flavor and though the salsa was a bit spicy it didn't have a good flavor to it either. Stopped in for birria tacos today for the first time. Restaurant was clean and customer service was warm and inviting. Four Birria tacos with a soda came to $20.26, which to me felt a little high. However, I polished off the entire plate in about 5 minutes. Quality of food was made perfectly and was excellent. We will definitely be back.
