We went to this place for my friends rehearsal dinner for her wedding. It was the perfect place. The restaurant is very beautiful and has unique furniture, wall tiles and other fun things to notice. The service was AMAZING. Even with about 30 people, everyone's order came out correct, hot, and they kept asking about drinks or taking away plates. I was blown away. The food was also INCREDIBLE. Sooo disappointing. We took our daughter and son-in-law with our three grandchildren here for lunch today. We were excited to try it and all seemed okay at first. Got our drinks quickly and the salsa was good with the chips. Thinking things were going to be awesome. NOT. We ordered our food and I had a two crispy tacos with a cheese enchilada with rice and beans. My wife ordered the beef, pork and chicken with rice and beans. When the plates arrived, they weren't even warm. The tacos were cold and the rice was cold. My wife's plate was loaded but again it wasn't even warm. It seemed like everything on her plate had been smoked with the meat. The service was a slow too and I noticed other people looking around for their server too. We won't be going back. We went here for lunch wanted to try a new place! It's not in the best area of town it's a little sketchy but as you pull up, the signage is really nice and inviting when you walk in the atmosphere is great, the decorations and the vibe that they have in there was a pleasant surprise. I loved how it was decorated! The lady who greeted us immediately took us back to a table, the waitress took a little while to get to us. She was not very friendly, She just seemed like she wanted to know what we were getting and get on with her shift! The chips were great. I like the red chunky salsa, The green one was a little bit sweet, but it was still really good. So Like I said, we had never been to this restaurant before so we were going to order the lunch. Special plate is a taco and enchilada or Tostadas so we assumed that you could get a taco with either an enchilada or tostada! But in reality it's literally one taco the rice and beans or the enchilada, rice and beans or a tostada! So that could've been a little bit more clear, but that wasn't bad! We ended up getting two plates we got shredded beef crispy taco and a cheese enchilada with rice and beans. So I started with the beans and honestly, I don't know if they were burnt or what was going on with them because I have never tasted refried beans Have this flavor. It's something I can't describe. They were not very good at all, the rice was bland there was no flavor in those. I noticed that there was a lime on my plate so I actually squeeze the lime on everything just to give it some flavor and cover up the flavor of the beans a little. The taco was decent. It needed a lot of salsa to give it flavor because it was lacking in that area as well. And the enchilada was the worst. I couldn't even eat more than a bite ,My husband couldn't swallow because of how thick the cheese was. It was pretty bad honestly it feels like they cut a block of cheese, wrapped the thinthinnest tortilla over it and just threw sauce and more cheese on top of it. By the time it got to our plate, and by the time we were able to get to the enchilada, it was like the cheese, solidified and hardened so I took one bite and he took maybe two but we could not finish it. Honestly it's very disappointing to go to a restaurant expecting to have a good experience and it's not.. We literally felt like we wasted our time and our money. It was a very unpleasant unfortunate experience. We will not be coming back here as we left all the women were on their phones only one looked up to date goodbye! Where's the professionalism! There should be no phones if the customers are going to be neglected. That might be why our waitress was in a hurry when she took our order! Needed Improvement: I had birria tacos, and I expected the consumé as a condiment. It turned out the street tacos I got just had shredded beef dipped in the consumé. Disappointed I didn't get more info on it. I'm a fan of refried beans at Mexican restaurants but I'm not a fan of their refried beans. Not sure what the unusual flavor was these beans had -- kinda smoky, I'm thinking chipotle. I wanted to like it but in the end they just tasted "off". The service was not great; it was one and done. He took our orders, dropped off our plates, never checked afterwards. Bottom line: this place has shredded beef burritos that are hands-down my wife's favorite of every place we've been in the Valley. So, patronize them for that reason, if that's your go-to item. For lunch, I opted for one of the lunch specials - A bean tostada with rice and beans. Only $10 so a good call. All the food was good. Rosa's is a completely average hole-in-the-wall Mexican place with gourmet prices that just don't match the quality of the food. It may have been the least impressive Mexican food I've had in Arizona. I ordered mole enchiladas and they were just fine. Nothing special, but nothing bad about them. But to pay $25 for this plate of tortillas, rice, beans, and a few pieces of chicken is a little outrageous. I feel like I've had better for cheaper from food trucks. I will say the service was nice. I was with a large 12 person family group. Rosa's did a good job accommodating our group in a semi-private area. They do have chips and salsa (chunky fresh red and a sweet green tomatillo) for the table. The chunky red tastes fresh and has great cilantro and tomato flavor. The green is my favorite and is on the sweet side. I order the combo fajitas (chicken and steak). The entree was $28 and they have Coke products. The chicken was super tender and had a great flavor. The steak had a good flavor but maybe my cut of meat wasn't great because it was a bit chewy. I had to cut it with my knife to make it work in the tortillas. It came with a generous helping of guacamole and sour cream with beans and rice. I think it also had 4 tortillas as well. It could have fed 2 people easy. I'm big and I barely finished. This was the first Mexican restaurant that we tried 25 years ago when we moved to AZ. IT's not as crowded and the service and food are still amazing. My wife had the Beef Enchiladas and I had the Shrimp Burrito. Both were savory and delicious. The refried beans were the best my wife has had and all the food came out piping hot. Only down side is the extreme prices. I get there is inflation but nothing I ate was above ordinary in the product category. This is hole in the wall Mexican with gourmet prices. I used to eat at the Rosa's off mckellips which I really enjoyed. The environment was awesome with all the decorations, service was pretty good and the food tasted great. They always have had this location which was their primary location so I give it a shot. Not necessarily in the best parking lot which is right next to Fallas. Still has a great traditional Mexican decorations and with plenty of seating I remember being a bit fan of the beans. They have this nice smokey taste to it so I went with the veggie burrito with a side of beans. The burrito is huge and for sure it couldn't be eaten all at one sitting unless you want to take a nap shortly after. The burrito was good but I felt like it was a majority of beans with very little veggies within the burrito. I wish there was a bit more more filling other than beans but the burrito wasn't too bad. The beans tasted good but I might of went overkill with beans cause that's all I felt like I was eating. The savior was the green salsa that really is a tasty salsa that has a little heat and a nice sweet taste. The waiter even brought out a container of water for him. 2- the chunky guacamole was the BEST, and could be a meal by itself. 3- the food platters are HUGE and delicious. Tried this restaurant for the first time today and we were very impressed. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, the servers are wonderfully friendly and upbeat, and the menu is full of amazing dishes we will be returning to try more of! The salsa verde is the best I've ever had. I ordered the glazed salmon salad, which turned out to be the perfect summer salad complete with strawberries and orange slices that paired well with the salmon glaze. The outside does not match the interior/ When you enter, the walls are covered in hand painted tiles lending an authentic flavor to the space. We were met immediately with menus and a server ready for drink orders. Sadly they're are no beers on tap but the bottled beers are ice cold. I ordered a tamal and cheese enchilada in red sauce. All entrees come with rice and beans and chips with salsa. The chips are delightfully thin and crispy and salsa is fresh with lots of oregano. The entree portions are served on heated platter and are huge!!! The beans are so good, best I've ever had, and vegetarian at that. Lots of smoked mesquite flavor... delish!!!! Rice was well seasoned and ample. The tamale was sweet ish with a good helping of delicious red sauce. And I had a cheese enchilada as well with tons of cheese. I ordered a taco salad no meat with black beans. What I got was a bunch of lettuce, and a crap ton of mandarins, like who puts mandarins in a taco salad!!! Went tonight with my boyfriend and the food was AMAZING! The two waiters were seating, cleaning, and serving the entire restaurant by themselves. With smiles on their faces they were working so hard to take care of all the tables including some large groups. Surprised to see they were not busy on a Thursday night but the tables are fairly distanced and there is outdoor seating. The food was amazing! A little on the pricy side but worth it. Had the spinach enchiladas which comes with corn and black beans. Such great flavor and I'm not much of a coked spinach person. Friend had the taco and tostada plate which he loved.
