Being from Ohio there are two things that I've learned are only good in the south...fried green tomatoes and red eye gravy. I stopped in here after reading some reviews. The woman that greeted me had "put some south in your mouth" on her shirt, and I knew I was in for a treat. I got the country ham biscuit that had a fried green tomato on top as well as egg and cheese that was accompanied with Espresso Red Eye Gravy. It was fantastic. Exactly what I was craving and it exceeded my expectations in terms of quality of ingredients and taste. They also had a featured side of "Honey Sriracha Loaded Potatoes" which were cubed fried potatoes in a honey sriracha sauce. Sweet and spicy it was a good compliment to the savory biscuit I ordered. The "cathead" biscuit are fluffy, the creativity and quality of the various combinations is 2nd to none, the jam bar is delicious, and you're guaranteed to leave in a food coma. Just great, one of Ashevilles 4 out of 5 breakfast spots. What really moved this up to 5 for me was during my honeymoon my to go order. ordered all our jams and favortite savory biscuits for door dash. The care with which our oreder arrived represents the best i have seen to date from a door dash in terms of perfection. Every item seperated and perfectly temped. I was staying at a 1950s themed air bnb very close, but super appreciated the packaging care. Delicious and one of Asheville/SOuth ASheville's great culinary additions. There were THREE black hairs on my plate. They remade the food, without the sausage gravy I had originally ordered. The manager had an attitude about the gravy, then when I requested to talk to the manager she said she was the manager. Well.. we try eat the new food and found yet another hair in the chicken. Our 1st time here after numerous Greenville visits. Not a bad wait for a beautiful Sunday AM 11am. 15min to order then 10 for food. Polite for as busy as they were. Had to go find my OJ . Had to return the chicken on the biscuit as it was overcooked (had and hollow in some areas). They replaced it. The biscuit is awesome and jelly options , yum! Thin over cooked options in the gravy. Did I just order the wrong thing?? I was craving this place because all of the great reviews but my food was not what I expected. I had one of their specialty biscuits that had artichokes, tomatoes, sundries tomatoes on it and it all sounds delicious and looks it too.. but the taste was just awful. The biscuit was SO soggy from all the sauce on it. I think I may have taken 2 bites. The staff was too busy to even notice the uneaten plate as she picked it up. Multiple times visiting this spot make it a must if you are in the area. More than 1 meal portions and the quality is great!

Definitely worth a try. Especially on the weekends at brunch prime time, don't let the line outside intimidate you. Just go prepared knowing you will have to wait in line the same way you'd have to wait for a table elsewhere. They do provide cold cucumber water outside if you get thirsty! Once through the line outside and in, you order at the counter. You're given a number for your table and your food will be brought to you fairly quickly by friendly servers. Drinks are self serve, as is the jam bar with over a dozen yummy choices. There are tables downstairs, upstairs and outside so even with a crowd, there's no shortage of places to sit. The Mimosa chicken biscuit was huge and tasty, but I was surprised and disappointed that the chicken was dark meat. Thankfully the biscuit itself, with the huge serving of egg (cooked how you like it) along with jam was a meal for me. Hub had the Greenvillian, which is filled with spicy goodness for all you pepper bellies out there, and he loved it. There are so many combinations and choices that it would be difficult to not find something you like on the menu. It's definitely worth a return trip just to try the gravy flight and the biscuit donuts. We'll be back! read more

Wonderful breakfast place on the West End. Parking is on the University Ridge side of the restaurant in a deck. I tried biscuits and gravy. I chose the fried chicken gravy - they have 8 gravy choices that vary seasonally. I ordered an egg on the side wanting some protein. Completely unnecessary because when my biscuits were brought to the table, they were smothered with gravy and chunks of fried chicken. My wife went with the biscuit sandwich and pimento cheese grits on the side. Everything was out of this world. You order at the counter and seat yourself. Serves until 3:00PM. read more

DELICIOUS. The first word that comes to mind. This place was amazing. My mom and I came to visit my sister who lives in Greenville and wanted to try this place for the first time. They had a great selection on the menu and gave very generous portions. Everyone in our party was very satisfied with the food and service. We all ordered different things and got to try each others. There is a parking garage around the corner of Biscuit Head for diners. We ended up having about a 20ish minute wait before we got to order. The line was out the door but trust me, the wait it worth it! The decor was fun and they had fun facts written on the walls to read while you wait. I also love the cat theme. The seating arrangements is communal in the middle and there are also tables of 4 throughout the building. It wasn't hard to find a seat, surprisingly. I wish they had this in Indianapolis! This place was great! They have gluten free/vegan biscuits which taste like the real deal, and their normal biscuits are giant fluffy clouds! It makes for a hefty meal, but worth every bite. Their cole slaw is just the right ratio of twang to creaminess, and their grits are cooked just right. I love their jam bar (ALL delicious, though I'm partial to their peach-rosemary). If I had to think of something to critique, it would only be that I wish they had some sugar free syrups for their coffee and perhaps some almond milk as a mylk alternative. Can't wait to go back. After scouring the photos from other reviews, we couldn't wait to try Biscuit Head. Unfortunately, all this hype up made me order more than I could handle. No regrets though. I'm glad I got to try everything. The first trip we made to Biscuit Head was derailed because there was a line out the door (see my review of Eggs Up Grill where we ended up). We made it back on Memorial Day when most people had off from work. We arrived around 7:30AM and there was no line. They were just finishing up getting all the fixings out to the jam, honey and butter bar. I ordered the full breakfast with a side of andouille sausage and one of the specials of the day, basil ice cream on top of pineapple bread pudding. This also came with two eggs and their signature biscuit. The eggs ordered over medium were more over easy but I wasn't too upset about that. I also happily tried almost all of the butters and jams. The whole place was a fun eating experience and the biscuit, and sides that I ordered were up to snuff. We were a little disappointment with the jams. They were all very sweet and we were looking for something with a bit more tang or acidity to offer some balance to the plate. Basil ice cream is also new to my palate so I didn't really know what to make of it. Kind of like a cold creamy pesto. Not bad though. read more

Finally checked out Biscuit Head after constantly getting recommendations to visit. Portions are huge and well worth the price! Aside from the biscuits being wonderful, there are some things that differentiate them from other breakfast joints. 1. The gravy sampler to go with your biscuit. Try three different kinds. 2. The jam bar. With over ten different kinds, you're bound to find one or more you love. The chocolate milk is a must! I ordered the kids size and it was a nice amount. Plan to wait in line. It moves relatively fast so don't let it deter you. At this location, they had a water cooler outside to keep you hydrated. read more

I was so impressed the first time I came here that my second time I was worried. I was concerned that it wouldn't be as good as I remembered... oh was I wrong. It was even better the second time around! The atmosphere is fun, the food is insane, get the mimosa chicken biscuit. I love tasting all the fun flavors of the jam bar. First of all the biscuits are terrible. Definitely cooked in a giant pan cut into squares with a soggy bottom. Taste and feels more like cornbread. The only thing that was good was the eggs and French toast they made after my gravy came out orange and the waitress tried it and said "yes our gravy is terrible today would you like anything else?" I've been wanting to try Biscuit Head for quite some time​ but didn't have any plans to visit Asheville (original location). I had a "day date" in Greenville, so I decided this would be my chance to try BH! I arrived about 1:15 PM (they close at 2), on a Sunday. There were three people ahead of me in line & many of the tables were filled with customers. The place is somewhat small, but with community style seating, you may make a new friend or two! Very cute decor. The young lady that took my order was very sweet & friendly! I ordered the catfish biscuit​ & only wanted slaw. She knocked a little off the price since I wasn't getting all of the other toppings. I also ordered the collards & a smores latte. I didn't wait long for my food to arrive. And yes, the biscuit​ is HUGE, as was the catfish! I knew what to expect though. ;) The biscuit was hard & fluffy - yes, THAT combination works! The catfish was lightly battered & was tasty, although some bites did, in fact,​ taste very fishy (yes, I know it's fish). I am a huge fan of collard greens, but this missed the mark for me. They're coconut stewed & had a spicy kick to them. It reminded me of Indian food (which I don't like). I'm not saying they wouldn't be good to others, I just didn't care for them. :) The smores latte was AMAZING. It did taste just like a smores. Small little graham crackers that melted ... MMMMM. Visiting Greenville for work so I didn't have a list of Yelp restaurants I had to try. But on a list of local favorites, Biscuit Head popped up. So I came in for a quick lunch on a week day. it was not too busy and the diners were pretty diverse, which I liked a lot. Order at the counter from a wide range of biscuits. They recommended the pulled pork biscuit but I was fighting a cold and wanted something spicy so I got the Cajun Benedict and fresh squeezed orange juice and hot tea. The juice was really yummy and they serve high quality loose leaf Tea Leaves bagged tea. I thought for $2.50 I would get something horrible like Tazo but Tea Leaves is one of my favorite brands so this tea snob appreciated the tea she got. My biscuit came out pretty quickly. And I was blown away by how soft the biscuit was. It was like a pillow! How did it hold all those toppings (sausage and 2 poached eggs) without crushing under their weight? It also tasted buttery (but not too buttery) and was perfectly salted. I loved the topping of Cajun sausage and green onions. I was also shocked they gave me 2 poached eggs for 1 biscuit. So generous! I enjoyed my biscuit so much I went back to order dessert of the biscuit donuts with lemon curd. While I waited for the donuts to fry, I tried the fresh made jams at the jam bar. The chili mango was the best! Can I have this as a topping on everything?? And can everyone have a jam bar? Anyway, like everything else, the donuts were delicious. A thin super crispy shell enclosed the softest biscuit. Biting into a hot donut on a super cold day is my new favorite thing. Overall, I was impressed by the value and generosity and service.
