We stopped in here for Sunday brunch. It was packed and we had quite a wait, but it was worth it! It's the stuff dreams are made of and both of us can't wait to go back! I ordered half sweet tea half lemonade with half blueberry and half blackberry flavoring (jam). It was too sweet! So the waiter offered a do over with unsweetened tea and that was much better. It was tasty and quite refreshing, but I'd probably try 2/3 lemonade with 1/3 unsweet tea next time. My date ordered the Fish and Grits topped with Fried Shrimp. I tasted it and it was in my top 2 best grits I've tasted of all time. Super tasty and luscious with just the right amount of richness. The fried catfish filet was perfect and the side of bacon was perfectly crisped up and yummy of course. I tried the biscuit leftover and it wasn't good enough to make me want to order it again. With patient guidance from our awesome waiter, I ordered the Peach Chicken & Waffles. The waffles were perfectly soft, the chicken was tasty and the sauce was the bombdotcom.

I enjoyed the leftovers just as much and was sad I didn't have more left to eat on after I finished them off, but I want to try the Bacon Banana Stuffed French Toast next time.

The bacon stuffed french toast was also a treat. The staff was very friendly and the ambience is very Southern and quaint. Don't miss out if you're in Lake Charles! They are located not far off the freeway. A real treat. Definitely...

We're Houstonians who come in each chance we can. Please be aware there will be a wait since it's a local small business but definitely worth the wait. The food always has a homemade taste with each dish like their waffles, hash, and especially their homemade biscuits and jams!! Every visit they have a new jam to taste. The Josh and Pork chop plate will always be our go-to order

Everything about this place is great!! The staff is super friendly and accommodating and the food is AMAZING! Some of the best grits I have ever had, and the bourbon peach pepper jam is indescribable! A must stop in Lake Charles.

My husband had the jambalaya grits, and I ordered the BJ Breakfast. The grits were excellent--flavorful. We were both happy with our meals overall. Unfortunately, the biscuits were a major letdown: dry, crumbly, and surprisingly bad. The strawberry and blueberry peach jams were watery and unappetizing. We'd return just for the grits--they were that good. The exterior of the place isn't very inviting and the neighborhood feels a bit rough, but if you're in the mood for some really good grits, it's worth a visit. We were visiting from Texas and would come back again--but only for the grits. The biscuits and jam were a real disappointment.

This place ranks Top 5 for me. Unassuming location with the Southern hospitality. The service was outstanding and the food was excellent. We had the Sloppy Biscuit (Picture not taken because I destroyed it before the waiter placed the plate on my table), Jambalaya Grits (Pictured here) and Sloppy Hash (Also pictured here). Scott was great and I have nothing negative to say about this spot. I would recommend this spot and we will be back. They only open till Noon so get there early.

Total Yelp find on a recent trip to Lake Charles. Came from Texas to visit some famous chef's steakhouse on my birthday weekend. We stayed just over the bridge in Westlake. Saturday morning we awoke looking for coffee and the all important breakfast before we went for that big fancy $$$$ dinner. We arrived just in time to avoid the wait; this place obviously has a local reputation. My mom immediately exclaimed how good the coffee was. That would be a secret blend of Folgers and Jim Beam coffee mixed in. Let me tell you friends, there is Walmart purchased condiments on every table. What they do with them is glorious. The secret ingredient is Cajun love. My Ashley omelette had bacon, link sausage, shrimp, jalapenos, onion and bell pepper. Four eggs not three; paired with one of the best cheesy grits I've ever had. My mom HATES grits..She loved this version. Man boy had the chicken and waffles. GF had the Shuggah hash Mom had the BJ omelette. All perfectly presented southern love on a plate. By the time we left folks were parking behind other cars so nobody ahead of them could leave. Possibly the best breakfast find in Louisiana.

Amazing black owned restaurant! It's located in a neighborhood in Lake Charles so don't think your GPS is off. I went and truly enjoyed the music and vibe of the restaurant. I ordered the seafood grits with shrimp, imitation crab meat, and sausage over creamy gouda grits with a fried fish filled. Sooooo good. That fish was fried to a golden brown and the batter on it was good! I also had a waffle and a homemade biscuit which both were good. The service was ok, the young lady was nice. 9/10, I'll be back again.

I'll keep this short and to the point: make sure you have breakfast/brunch here when you're in the Lake Charles area. Boudain Hash was phenomenal! Seasoned well, and the flavors all work together amazingly. 10/10 The Kari is a salmon croquette, on top of a fried cheesy-grit cake, topped with Chipotle shrimp, and love. Biscuit was homemade, buttery, and excellent. 9.5/10 Pancake (not pictured, but I mowed through it quickly) - perfect....crispy edges, fluffy center. 10/10 Service: Everyone was friendly and accomodating. Very attentive and even asked how our experience was. Id ggo back, even if the food was medicore, for them. The food being amazing was the cherry on top. 11/10 We went around 9:30 on a Saturday, and there was a wait of about 45 minutes. Worth every minute. Don't sleep on this gem, trust me. Get there without delay.

Al and Marilyn have an outstanding little... but growing restaurant in the Lake Charles area. The service is always polite and the food is outstanding. The pancakes are a must try and their spin on Southern Classics are great. I tried the sloppy grits and added an extra egg and it might be my new favorite. Coming from San Antonio, TX you may say, "what do I know?" you're right, but my Cajun family may have some credibility Thank you Marilyn and Al for the food and service!

The food here is delicious and definitely worth the drive. My husband had the Oxtails with grits and eggs. Wow! The flavors and textures weee perfect. I had the pancakes and eggs. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious. The pineapple jelly for the biscuit was out of this world! Don't be discouraged by the location. The owners friendly smiling service and the chefs cooking skills make this a must do! read more

Do not let the location scare you off. At all costs, STOP and eat here. By far the best breakfast I've had in a very long time. Close your eyes and imagine sitting in your grandmother's kitchen. The food, the surrounding conversations and the atmosphere are truly Southern in every respect. I ordered the waffles and chicken and i was not disappointed. The waffle was big and fluffy and the chicken tenders were fried and seasoned to perfection. The grits were AMAZING. I will be back! read more

After a night at the Casino and casino bar, and a hangover like no other, this is exactly what our family of 8 needed to get back on the road!!! The food was absolutely delicious !!! The phrase "never judge a book by its' cover" is exactly what "Biscuit and Jam" is!! Truly a Hidden treasure!!! This restaurant is AMAZING !!! Our breakfast came out hot and fresh!! It's truly eating your Momma's home cooking!! We all loved it!! We will surely be making our way back here next time we visit the Golden Nugget!!! Omg. This place was AMAZING!!!! I don't leave reviews... but I have to for Biscuits and Jamz!!! So delicious! I had the kaitlyn waffles with the fried shrimp. BEST BREAKFAST I've ever had!!! My boyfriend had the sloppy biscuits. He absolutely LOVED them!!! The service was great! Get there early for a table since it's a smaller place. Lots of people waiting... I would too! Best mom n pop dinner I've been to in a while! Don't be fooled by the outside , we almost didn't give this place a chance because of it being in the middle of nowhere but we were so glad we had the opportunity to eat here! We attended a concert in Lake Charles and decided to try this place out for breakfast! We were so glad we did, all the food we ordered was amazing! We tried the Chicken and Waffles, the sloppy seafood, and the stuffed French toast and they were all delicious. This, mmmm, This Place is a Diamond in the rough! I was looking for a breakfast/brunch place and came across this place. I read the reviews and thought okay everyone says it's good let's give it a try. From the minute we walked in, we were kindly greeted and sat down and started looking around the small restaurant at the plates of food and our mouths were watering!!! I ordered the seafood grits at the recommendation of the owner and let me tell you.. IT DID NOT DISSAPOINT!!! The most delicious grits, with shrimp, crab and fish to die for. My cousin got the chicken and waffles, the chicken was fried to perfection and so good!!! And let's not forget to mention her homemade jam.. sooo good! Needless to say we are going back today!!! My husband and I were passing through Lake Charles, did a search for the best breakfast and saw the 5-star ratings for Biscuits & Jamz so decided to try it. So glad that we did! This place was delicious!!! It was certainly off the beaten path and something you will definitely want to search out. I had the catfish breakfast and my husband had the fried chicken and egg breakfast special. I usually don't eat jam on my biscuit but I am so glad I did! Cherry berry was so good and not too sweet. We even had to buy a jar! This place did not disappoint one bit. We hope to be back. read more

I ordered an iced pumpkin latte with oat milk, and my boyfriend ordered a black and white frozen latte. We would both rate our cof drinks a 7/10. I feel mine would have been better if I got the cold foam but I was worried they couldn't do that with oat milk. We also got a bagel and some beignets. The bagel was good, the cream cheese comes separate in a container and you spread it yourself. Beignets were also decent. The barista that helped us was kind. We will be back since I wanted to try " The Froth Awakens".

The "elote" was good but had a lot of lime and I didn't taste butter at all, I watched them dump canned corn into a pan instead of it being cut off from an ear of corn. Steak tacos were not bad but lacked a little flavor and they had quite a few fatty pieces. Green salsa for the tacos was good. Overall not bad. I love authentic Mexican food and cook a lot of it at home. I've been to many places in Mexico so that's what I'm used to eating.

My husband had the Tasso brined double cut pork chop with collard greens. The Demi-glace was absolutely delicious and the greens were well seasoned. My father-in-law had the wedge salad that he asked to spruce up with a few extra dressings, and they had no qualms meeting his requests. We were too stuffed to try dessert, but we will absolutely be back to try it another time. The pricing was very fair for the quality of food and atmosphere. All of the staff were super kind. The reviews of this restaurant are not misleading! This is a family run establishment. They pour their heats and soul into their food and it shows! Our group tried the strawberry stuffed waffles, biscuits and gravy, chicken and waffles, French toast, and burger. All were amazing! The hard part is narrowing down what to order because you will want to try everything! Don't let the exterior of the building fool you, go in, you will NOT be disappointed.
