She gave my son an incredible haircut and colored his hair blue. She was very informative and honest. I love the atmosphere and all the pictures and decorations in the store. They had great music playing, and it was just a really great place--perfect for anybody, especially a preteen who's entering the "I'm too old for that" phase. My current salon was already a splurge for me. Then they announced a price increase and that is just not sustainable for my budget right now. So it was time to hunt for other hairdo opportunities in Columbus... I'd heard about Bishops but it always had to do with their appointment scheduling process. Unlike most walk-in salons, you can "check-in" online here. I struggled with trying to figure this out but I have now learned the trick. Go online at 9 am sharp "day of" and you should be able to make your reservation for time and stylist of preference. I chose "next available" stylist and I received Lindsay who was so much fun to work with on my color and cut. I desperately needed to cover my greys and we decided to add in a few foils for some "secret pops of color." She did not rush and was very thorough with the color and cut. I'd definitely recommend her. So get this--(I've never had this happen to me before)--Lindsay called me two days later to make sure I was pleased with her work! Bishops has a 7 day guarantee that you'll love your locks or they'll make it right. I was hoping my color highlights were a bit more darker purple so I returned and Lindsay did just that. Once I figured out their "check-in" system my experience at Bishops was smooth sailing. The pricing is fair and upfront. You know what you'll pay for color as you sit down in the chair. Very reasonable and they're always offering specials on their social media. I'll definitely be back to see Lindsay! PS. To start, I scheduled an appointment with a stylist only to find out when I arrived that she wasn't going to be there because her car got hit. That's fine-I know shit happens but it would've been nice if I was informed in advance. I ended up having to get my hair cut by someone else, and got a dissatisfactory haircut. I asked to have my layers shortened, but my layers were cut way shorter than I'd wanted them to be. When I went back to try to get my hair fixed, there was little to no remediation. I was offered to be shown how to style my hair and was told that next time I shouldn't get a haircut with short layers as if it were my fault that I'd requested shorter layers. I didn't know that they were going to be cut that short! The only reason why I'm giving three stars is that the haircut was even on both sides, and because I've gotten good haircuts here before. I will likely be going somewhere else to get it all chopped off now because I can't stand the way this looks. read more

I've been here around five times now and all times get the five stars. Simply put, great place for guys, especially those who like fades, which seems to be the unfading fad right now. Oh, a pun-nice. No, that's not all they do, but they do fades really well. They also do color really well too. Yeah, I'm a guy and yeah, I've had my hair colored here a couple times (bleached and then toned blonde). Second time they weren't afraid to let me know my hair was...well, a LITTLE fried from previous bleaching from friends and next time they'd have to work around it. I had my second haircut with Darian today-so much fun and such a great cut! I went from a side swwith long bangs to a center part with blunt bangs and a more angled bob-looks awesome with my glasses! I picked up a styling spray by Schwarzkopf-I think the brand is OSIS+ and it's such a great tool for low-maintenance styling. This place is awesome. It was super fast and the guy who cut my hair - I think his name was nick- he was really sweet and did a great job. I was super busy with work and had to write a report while getting my hair cut and he was totally cool and just let me work as he cut. I had never had a dry cut before but I absolutely loved it. My hair is SUPER tough to style and I almost ALWAYS leave feeling like i need to go home and shower and re-do the style myself. For that reason, a dry cut is absolutely perfect for me. In the end I left with a really fact, affordable cut that looked absolutely perfect and took a fraction of the time I would expect anywhere else. 5/5 for safety and sanitary precautions after reopening, but 3/5 for quality and service. They seemed to book the appointments back to back. This meant some stylists were late for their own appointments. That happens and it is completely understandable. They may want to put some gaps in between appointments to ensure everything runs on time. Also wasn't too satisfied with my haircut. The haircut seemed a bit rushed and didn't turn out as I wanted. Not to mention, I got the feeling the person cutting my hair really didn't want to be there. Again, understandable given the situation but also why come into work then? Stay at home if you don't feel comfortable coming in. I don't think I'll be coming back due to the service, but it's an A+ for effort otherwise. read more

I've been going to Bishops for almost 2 years and I would recommend it to anyone. Everyone is very nice, it is a great environment, and they always do a good job. For the last 5 or 6 months (since Covid) I've been going to Angela and she is the best. Not only is she extremely friendly, nice, and fun to talk to but she remembers your style, she appreciates you as a client, and she really does care about making you look as good as possible. I was happy to have the ability to schedule an appointment online and the option to choose next available or a specific person. I arrived around 6:50 on a Wednesday. It was quite busy but got in chair at the time of appointment, which was nice. My stylist was Lindsay and she was very nice and friendly. She also did a great job! I was worried about the parking situation but out back was a big vacant lot! So compared to the downtown location, this is ideal compared to parking on the busy high street during happy hour! We used the online check in and stopped by for a haircut for my son and daughter (7 and 5). Although it is walk-in only, they have a way you can grab a place in line. The hairdressers did a great job with the kids and they even put a little temporary pink in my daughter's hair when I asked if such a thing could be done. The website doesn't say kids cuts are 20% off, but they are, so I'm sharing that here now. The only reason I give 4 stars and not 5 is I realized after we left that they did not wash their hair nor offer to. We will be back with the kids the next time we are in Clintonville. read more

My friend and I came here as walk-ins on a referral from another salon. They took us right away, and what an awesome experience! Darian was my stylist and she did an incredible job! I have many issues-dry, colored hair, little volume and scars on my head from an accident. We talked through the style and she nailed it. Procrastinating, scalp problems etc. After reading all of the positive reviews of Bishops and a serious need for a haircut, I went in. I came in Wednesday night, so no waiting. I chose the dry haircut. If you aren't familiar with dry cuts, don't fret. I haven't had a dry cut in over 11 years! My stylist was wonderful. I wanted to get back to layers. I have fine, wavy hair with cowlicks! When Alison was halfway through, she asked me what I thought. Answer, too soccer mom. Alison put more layers but not to the point of being bald. I needed a haircut, and I had heard that a new place in the neighborhood had opened. As they take walk-in's, I gave them a shot. My thoughts: The music was awful and overly loud (my stylist had to semi-shout to be heard over the music), my specific stylist was aggressive and argumentative, the price was ridiculous (with add-on's that increased the price, but comes standard in every other shop that I've been to), you need a math-degree to work out the pricing (based on hair length, amount of clippers used in the cut and add-on services), and they hard-sell their products (I had to say no four times to my stylist about buying her product that I told her that I did not want, and then I had to repeat my disinterest twice at the counter as they tried to sell it to me again). Lastly, the haircut was average at best, yet over twice the cost of the average barber, and still higher than the average stylist. So: less than enjoyable atmosphere, less than pleasant stylist, expensive yet average to below average outcome. Flash and bang from a new out-of-town chain that just shows that supporting local workers over out-of-state franchise buyers is a win-win all around. Did I mention that the haircut sucks? read more

OK, doing a review for a guy's haircut here, so take that for what you will. This place has quick service, and you get what you pay for (cuts are more than $20, which might surprise someone used to lower price points). It's definitely a step up from the chain stores and the barber shops that only want to buzz your hair down to nothing. The people here take their time without being slow, and my cuts have always come out looking natural and well blended. They have a knack for thinning out thick hair without making your hairdo look droopy or hollow. The service is also very friendly, and they're equally willing to chat or just stay focused. I have done everything possible not to have to write a bad review, but they have left me no options. I think clients should beware of what can happen here!! I arrived at 1:00 during the week. My daughter wanted a haircut I asked for highlights and a cut. We were the only clients there. My hairdresser was CASH. I did not leave the chair for 5 hours! It was after 6:00 before she finally said I was done! She was so slow and made no apologies for it. I went with my sister who loved the place, she had recommended it over and over. She had an appointment at 5:00 for her car. She finally had to leave and leave us there. I was begging CASH to get done! I had to call a friend for a ride home. NO NO NO way should it take 5 hours to highlight hair!! The back was great but the front was not done, looked so bad, she finally hurried at the last minute and did not leave solution on long enough, great now you hurry. The bad and worse part is that my sister called the owner, emailed the owner, wrote a letter to owner and finally sent a certified letter to owner. She finally called after all the attempts she had made and said she would call me. Never happened...... I did not want my money back or even to complain about time I just wanted her to highlight the front of my hair, like finish the job. Photos were sent each time to show problem. My daughters hair was the best it had ever looked! Wish I knew her name for a KUDOS. CASH took forever, at one point I asked if I could walk outside for a moment. I needed a break, 5 hours in a chair is a long time. Nope I had to sit in chair, never got to get up. My daughter is diabetic and we were starving let alone her sugar. I even nicely explained that. I couldn't have been any nicer. CASH did not goof around or take breaks, she was just that slow. She said she gave me a free haircut. She made 5 total cuts?? Not a haircut by any means. Yes, they are pricy but wasn't complaining about price, I just wanted my hair to be nice. I picked out a hair color and a highlight color. Nothing was what I picked out. Could live with that but not the front not done at all! I didn't enjoy her conversation either. If she said she would be faster if she was high one more time I would scream! I am 61 years old I don't need to know your pot habits. OR you used to be a stripper OR you prefer woman. None of that is my business, I just wanted my hair done. I guess they don't want to grow there business or they would have contacted me and we would have just rescheduled with a different stylist to fix it. The other girls were great. I hate to see them lose business because of one stylist (I shouldn't even use that term for CASH. She had already told me the story of chasing a customer out the door. I worry what she will do when she sees this, she has my address. Just wanted to give people a heads up, do not go with a time schedule, you will be there all day with CASH and you will not get what you asked for or get a complete job. It was a horrible day! I even tipped her very well, at that point I just wanted out of the chair! Also she did NO clients hair in between me and others, so that wasn't the problem either.
