I have VERY long and thick dark brown hair, and went to my usual stylist for an ombre/balayage. Long story short, I walked out looking like I had yellow (orange-y blonde stripes) from root to tip. Safe to say it was not what I wanted, and I was extremely overcharged. My close friend at school referred my to Philosophi Salon because she said her experience was great. I called them and explained my situation, and was given a consultation followed by an appointment 2 days later. Not only were they understanding of my hair tragedy, they were eager to take on the challenge to fix it! The receptionist said she knew exactly which stylist would work best for me, and referred me to Morgan, a level 1. I went in for my consultation and she checked out the damage, and worked with me to make a game plan, telling me everything she was going to do to fix it. I was so relieved already. I showed her the pictures I wanted and she LITERALLY replicated it onto my head (she really is a balayage specialist). We were trying to figure out if she should do a partial or full highlight on me. I told her to do what she thought was best, and I expected her to say a full highlight. She said "even though I would make more by doing a full highlight, we truly can get your look doing just a partial." Knowing that your stylist's main concern is achieving your desired look instead of tacking on expenses was such a pleasant change. She told me everything she was doing and gave me the exact price before we even started-no surprises. I left the salon feeling like a million dollars and truly LOVING my hair. Morgan is such a sweet, down to earth girl and I am referring ALL of my friends to her!!! I can't say enough good things about this salon, my experience, and my amazing stylist. I'll start with my experience walking into the salon. The lighting and ambience made me feel safe and loved. I was taken into the bosom of the salon and offered tea, coffee and/or water and all my troubles of the day melted away as I waited for my stylist in the plush chairs. Katie Thomas, aka the hair wizard aka the greatest of all time, greeted me and took me to my seat, where she went over my hair color choices and all the care requirements of my new color before beginning. While she mixed my color I got to relax and check my emails while the other patrons and stylist chatted about in a loving manner and conversed about their lives. When Katie came back, the Magic began. She expertly applied color to my hair as we caught up on our lives. Fast forward to the wash and she massaged my scalp which nearly lulled me to sleep, then she gave me the best cut I've ever had, and when my hair was dry, holy crap! I squealed with delight as the colors shimmered in the studio light. TL:DR Katie's skills are second to none, and she has prepared me to live my best life. I came in needing to add some life back into my hair. I had highlights done here and there at other places but I wanted to dip into balayage. I'm always nervous to go to a new salon. After doing a ton of research to find a great place, I found Philosophi. I wanted to find a place that had great customer experiences, a relaxed vibe and clean(ish) hair products. From the website, it seemed like all of that aligned. I was not disappointed. Just by walking in, you can tell it'll be a relaxing experience. The staff seemed happy and easy going. I booked an appointment with Tuny based on her bio on the website. She did an amazing job! We did a balayage and cut. I have to mention that I always have a hard time cutting my hair because my hair takes forever to grow. I have an irrational fear that it'll never grow back. Tuny made me feel like I could trust her and I felt less anxious to cut it. I could tell she really cared about the integrity of my hair. I'm so glad that I trusted her instincts to cut as much off as we did! My hair feels so much healthier and looks amazing. It's definitely pricey, but it's worth it. amazing experience!! i was pre-scheduled for a haircut six weeks ago for my new short hair after my first cut at this salon. my hair didn't grow that much after those six weeks, but i kept the appointment because i had already booked it previously and didn't want to inconvenience the staff. upon arriving, riley (my stylist) said my short hair still looked awesome and asked me if i even felt like it needed it cut. deep down, no, i thought it still looked fine, so she encouraged me to just rebook two weeks out. she said she didn't want to cut hair that she didn't feel like needed it. such refreshing honesty!! i really admired her attitude and appreciated her genuine consideration of my time and finances. now i know i can really trust this girl and this salon! we just ended up chatting for a while about how my cut was holding up, then i got a free facial since it was still technically my second appointment. imagine that! i just walked in and got a free facial without even getting a cut. money saved, great interaction with the staff, and a free facial and goodie bag? what more could you ask for! i'm never going anywhere else. read more

Riley helped me at the counter, and Tuny gave me a hair consultation. I wanted a root highlight to soften the transition between my dyed hair and my natural color, and then I wanted fashion colors on top of everything. We decided to split the processing into two steps based on how much time it would take: root highlight first and then fashion colors. Tuny had time that day, so she got me right in for the root highlight! There was little to no waiting time. I interacted with Tuny, Mackenzie, and Riley, and they were all very nice, friendly, and easy to talk to. Tuny was very knowledgeable when I asked about the salt lamps and for hair care recommendations for damaged hair, and she was fun to talk to. She also did a great job on my root highlight! I really enjoyed the mini facial that came with my service - I think offering those little specials with each service is a great way of raising customer satisfaction. I absolutely love this place! Morgan was amazing, she was able to fit me in last minute after a hair emergency. I had gotten my hair done at another salon and that salon made me super crazy platinum blonde about two days before I was supposed to get my engagement pictures done, I wasn't happy with it but that salon was not able to fit me in until after my shoot. Thankfully I called Philosophi on a whim and they were able to fit me in. Morgan really listened to what I wanted and asked all the right questions when I wasn't sure. She also took her time to make sure she did everything well. She was able to add some amazing dimension to my hair without damaging it and still have it look natural. I went from shocked looks to compliments on my hair. She also braided my hair for my engagement pictures that day she made me look like a Princess/Khaleesi/mermaid I am so thankful I called because I don't plan on going anywhere else anymore! read more

I used to attend Phia before I started coming to Philosophi and I am so happy it's here! It's much closer to where I live and there is easy parking available. I love coming here because I get the same experience I get at Phia but it's closer to home and the atmosphere feels more personal and relaxed and they still have awesome tea. My stylist and I have a good time together and I am able to communicate what I need with her and it's a relief to have that, it makes the experience more fun and I am less nervous about the results. The rest of the staff is very attentive and friendly while I'm there and when/if I need to schedule or reschedule appointments.I don't really have any complaints about Philosophi and I would highly recommend it to anyone. read more

I am a stylist at Philosophi Salon which means that I have the advantage of learning all that goes into executing a certain cut or color. During my six years at the salon I have learned how to tailor techniques behind my own chair. With that being said, I have had the opportunity to sit in Annah's chair not only a student, but I was able to experience what it's like being one of her "regulars." She gets excited to take my hair to new levels each time (I have an asymmetrical baby bang and a hybrid shag/mullet situation!) They were willing to work with me even before I made an appointment. I think that says so much about how amazing the staff are at both salons. Today I had my first visit with Taylor and she was phenomenal! She took time to actually listen to me and then she gave her recommendations without pressuring me. I am very pleased with the results! Danielle worked wonders with color for me! Or perhaps I should say, worked wonders fixing color.... The high points are that she listened to what I wanted and was up to a challenge, and she knew about methods for applying minimal streaks in just the right place to achieve the look I was going for. I'm gray and growing out red hair dye, lots of challenges there! Danielle did a great job matching my graying pattern and fixing brassy tones, and I would have been happy enough with that. But she also helped me come up with fun ways to keep some style with my gray using a low maintenance approach to emphasizing some dark streaks here and light streaks there. My favorite salon since I moved here from NYC. Ariel is my stylist and she is not only a talented hair stylist but she has knowledge most stylist don't like the science of hair, she also looks at you as an individual with unique hair needs and makes sure your hair becomes the most healthful it can be. She takes time with me to decide just what I want and makes sure I leave happy. She is a perfectionist which I love. I wish I could keep Ariel my secret, but she is so good that others need to experience her educated and stylish expertise. Clean, respectful, and met every expectation! I came in for a standard haircut, and Arianna went above and beyond. It was my first time at this salon, and Arianna walked me through their normal procedure quickly and thoroughly. She impressed me with her knowledge and skill, and made me completely comfortable. Ever since, she has always been so attentive to what I want.
