I've been a loyal customer for almost two years, but this past week I received one of the most jarring haircuts I've ever had. As shown in the attached photo, the cut is choppy, boxy, uneven, and lacks any blending. It has significantly impacted my confidence, and it's extremely difficult to style or even pull back my hair due to how short one of the layers is. It looks as though I have two completely different hairstyles on my head. I've lost nearly 8 inches from my original length, and the result is nothing like what I requested. I have already sent in a request to be contacted regarding this issue but have not been followed up with promptly or appropriately. When I discussed the matter over the phone, I felt the response was very dismissive. I believe a complimentary correction should be standard for customers who experience this level of dissatisfaction. Terrible experience. The guy who cut my hair (i think his name was Ari) was running super late at first. Not very friendly when he finally started cutting. I was scheduled for a deep conditioning treatment as well which he never even had time to do but the worst part is it all was how bad of a cut he gave me. Completely uneven! I tried parting it on the middle and the side which is my usual and both ways still looks awful. This is not what a $50 haircut should look like. I hope this gets refunded. I got my hair cut here and unfortunately I realized that my stylist wasn't very good at cutting curly hair. My hair did not turn out the way I asked and I wish she would have just told me prior to my cut that she either couldn't do it or that my hair wasn't good for that style. This is subjective, my hair probably did look nice to other people, but to me my hair was shorter than i wanted and didn't look like what i asked for. This was such a horrific experience. I've been getting balayages done on my hair for the past few years- never with any issue. I moved and needed a salon closer to me, so I scheduled a hair cut with Kholii. At that appointment I also had a consultation for a balayage, which I ended up scheduling for a few weeks later. I thought I had played it safe by having an in-person consultation prior to the appointment and by providing an inspo pic (included in this review). My hair color when I arrived at Bishops was VERY similar to the inspo pic, it had simply grown out some and I wanted to make some pieces a little brighter to resemble the inspo pic. The change I wanted definitely wasn't a drastic one. After the service was completed I was devastated- my hair was nothing like it was when I came in and was nothing like the picture either- the hair I wanted was more neutral in tone and my hair had turned out very red. Kholii re-toned me, which made things significantly worse. I became a cool-toned mousy brown with patches of red. Absolutely nothing like what I wanted. I felt like crying. I was offered a service with a manager, Christian, for the next day to fix my hair. I was very hopeful about this appointment but ended up highlighter orange. Despite Christian saying his goal was for me to "love" my hair, I really couldn't have left feeling further from that. I have absolutely no clue how anyone could look at my hair and at the pic I provided and think I could be satisfied. My hair looks significantly worse than it did before I went to Bishops, and the most insulting thing about it is that I PAID to have my hair look this bad. I'm blown away that they even took payment for this seeing how badly it looked- this definitely wasn't an experience where I felt valued as a customer or like my experience mattered at all, they just wanted to get me out of there. I have since spent about $550 purchasing toner, blue shampoo, and purple shampoo trying to fix this on my own before I went to another salon and paid a professional to fix my color. She was very confused about how I went from my before pic to my after, or how Bishops thought it was appropriate to collect payment after ruining my hair. This has been a very very expensive lesson learned- you get what you pay for. If you need a buzz cut or a very basic trim this place might be fine but I would absolutely NEVER EVER EVER recommend this place for anything where color or chemicals are involved. The terrible color job I got was one thing, but the complete lack of accountability, ownership, empathy, or desire to MAKE IT RIGHT are really what set Bishops apart to me, in the worst possible way. Don't go here if you actually care about your hair. UPDATE: I'm extremely upset about what was done to my hair so earlier today I called Bishops and spoke with a manager and requested a refund. The manager I spoke with apologized several times and said that the matter had been handled "internally". It was very clear she understood Bishops was responsible for my hair being totally ruined. I obviously didn't want orange hair. I asked for a refund. She told me it wasn't company policy but that considering the situation she would ask the owner. Christian (the manager who gave me highlighter orange hair) just called me back to say that it's "company policy to not give refunds" and completely divorced himself from any wrong doing. He said he thought I liked my hair... are you serious?? I wanted to be blonde not ORANGE. Everyone who saw me after I got my hair done asked what happened to me... this is absolutely insulting. He says that the company doesn't budge on this policy (even when they admit to ruining your hair, apparently) and while I begged him to ask the owner to call me he said they likely wouldn't. People need to be aware that this is what happens when you visit Bishops. This location is managed and owned by people who simply do not care about their customers. Do not go here. read more

Had an appt with Hailey this morning. What a warm, lovely, beautiful and professional person. She was non judgmental of greasy roots and flakey scalp that was so embarrassing to me that it's kept me from getting cuts regularly. She gave great suggestions and advice with no tone or attitude only kindness. She heard my requests on my cut, asked all the necessary questions to get it right and clearly is great at what she does because she absolutely nailed a cut I've gotten for years. I look and feel like myself again and I luckily found a great hair professional to visit next time it needs up keeping. Just got back home from a great experience at Bishops!! The appointment was super easy to schedule, and Holly was a great help! I came here after having been to the same stylist for 13 years because I wasn't quite getting the results I wanted. I asked for some weight off and some texture work and Holly did a fantastic job meeting that request. And when there were moments where I wasn't quite sure what to do with something, she always made the right call! I went in for a haircut last week add got the worst haircut of my life it was super uneven and large blunt cuts throughout when I asked for a trim with long layers with a slight u. I called the next day to get it fixed and scheduled for the Wednesday to get it fixed with the manger but after his attempts to fix it it still looks choppy and unblended and it's nothing like I originally asked for. I shouldn't have to style my hair for it to look somewhat decent! This is not the cut I went in for and now after requesting a refund they said it's not possible which is disappointing to hear now I have to spend months growing my hair back out to achieve the style I originally wanted. I'm not sure how a hairstylist feels comfortable charging $60 for a haircut like this. Before you book an appointment here ask yourself if you would pay $60 for this. read more

I've been going here a few times now while growing out my hair. Always had some pretty good experiences, and I just ask for some tips/advice because I wanted to grow my hair and I also showed a few pictures. Today I had the same kind of explanation, I checked in as a short hair cut/line up. I wasn't sure if I should trim my hair a little or just get a line up. We decide to get a "trim" she says we'll take an inch off, she shows me a length a little longer than an inch. I don't mind if it was more than an inch. But this was the end result. On top of this, I was charged for a long haircut. I'm not confrontational so I didn't want to make a scene or anything, so I just left and even included a tip. I just hope anyone going to their haircut can just be a little more cautious and very clear about what they want. So I can blame myself a little too but I paid $35 plus a tip for this haircut. TL;DR I showed pictures of what I wanted eventually, and I got a little more than "an inch" cut off. One bad experience out of a few exceptional experiences, costs $35 plus tip. DONT GO HERE FOR CURLY HAIR My friend said this was a great salon and I should try it out. A few days before my appointment, I asked for recommendations on stylist who could cut curly hair. I was told that all their stylists should be able to do my hair. I have a severe amount of anxiety with other people cutting my hair especially because of its texture but I wanted to spoil myself with a professional haircut, I've been cutting my own hair for two years. Because of this, Bishops was the first haircut I've had since 2022. When I went to schedule, I selected a random stylist because I was told they should all be able to cut my hair. When I got in, my stylist told me i would have better results if I washed my hair which I thought was weird because any good stylist should be able to cut my hair as it is. Not once during this process was I asked how I normally wore my hair. He cut it how he thought I should wear it which was not how I came in. I came in with my bangs down and he cut it so I would have to brush them back. Anyone who works with hair should understand that's not how my curl pattern hair works. The haircut took 15 minutes in total, and I headed home afterwards to style it myself. When I brushed my hair down, one side of my bangs were genuinely an inch longer than the other. I called Bishops and asked them to even it out which meant, a 10 minute walk in the Phoenix heat back to the salon. I got it fixed and gave it a few days to see if I could end up liking it. I don't hate how it looks but Its a pain to style because my curl pattern doesn't lie nicely with it. It's frustrating that I was told they could cut my hair. I have been getting hair cuts here for a few times because it's close to ASU. The past experiences were okay, not good not bad. This time the hair dresser did a HORRIBLE work on my hair, and her careless attitude really annoyed me. I had to repeat myself multiple times because she doesn't understand what I'm saying(? Or can't hear me ). On the hairstyle side, She trimmed my hair too short on the top, now that strand of hair is oddly sticking out, even with hair spray. I showed her what I want and explained it. I just wanted to trim my hair a little short, it was just getting long and growing out of shape, (the hairstyle I showed her was the hair style I had before,) she just doesn't understand how that hairstyle was done. I don't ever leave reviews but I feel like I was over charged. My goal for my hair is to have a platinum blonde money piece. I was completely fine going for multiple sessions since I have black hair. I knew it was not going to be a one and done deal. First time I went was late Sept. I was charged around 250 dollars. As you can see the money piece doesn't even go all the way down. It stops like 3/4 way down of the length of my hair. The piece is about 2 & 1/2 inches wide. I didn't want to go back but my thought was that maybe the second time will be easier since my hair has already lifted. The second time in October I was charged more than the first time, around 320 dollars. So after $600 dollars because I did tip I have a single semi blonde stripe. To me that's insane. The artist was chill, her work is fine, but I feel a bit robbed. I consulted with other certified hair stylists and they agree that I was way overcharged. 600 dollars is so much money. If I was getting my WHOLE HEAD done then okay but no. Also they do give a quote but my total was higher each time lol read more

I paid extra for a shampoo, thinking to myself "this is a salon it will be a nice through scrubbing wash"... this girl wet my head and left me sitting there while she looked for shampoo for 3 minutes. Once she made her way back to me she pretty much slopped shampoo on my head and rinsed it out, no scrubbing action. Being my first time here I am not familiar with the names of the employees, but they gossiped about their horrible paying customers and their personal lives right in front of me and another client the whole time... so inappropriate. To top it all off, during the haircut I heard a rip and felt a pull at the top of my head, the stylist didn't say anything so I assumed everything was okay! Now... days later I'm realizing she cut a chunk of my hair off at the top of my head. Unprofessional at best. They did have a 10% discount for ASU students but if you want a decent haircut, take your money somewhere else. When I called back to speak with the manager about what had happened to my hair, the first thing she said was "our company policy does not allow for reimbursements" even after she knew the hairdresser messed up my hair so bad it would take years to grow out.
