Do not go here. I paid extra for a shampoo, thinking to myself "this is a salon it will be a nice through scrubbing wash"... this girl wet my head and left me sitting there while she looked for shampoo for 3 minutes. Once she made her way back to me she pretty much slopped shampoo on my head and rinsed it out, no scrubbing action. Being my first time here I am not familiar with the names of the employees, but they gossiped about their horrible paying customers and their personal lives right in front of me and another client the whole time... so inappropriate. To top it all off, during the haircut I heard a rip and felt a pull at the top of my head, the stylist didn't say anything so I assumed everything was okay! Now... days later I'm realizing she cut a chunk of my hair off at the top of my head. Unprofessional at best. They did have a 10% discount for ASU students but if you want a decent haircut, take your money somewhere else. When I called back to speak with the manager about what had happened to my hair, the first thing she said was "our company policy does not allow for reimbursements" even after she knew the hairdresser messed up my hair so bad it would take years to grow out. I went in for my touchup and try to go back to my natural color which was not a very drastic change. I showed them a reference picture in my hair did not turn out anything like it. It's gray frizzy and somehow darker than when I walked in even though I got a balayage. I love gab but now that she's not there I won't be coming back. read more

Okay so the hospitality and the conversation was above average I would give that 4 stars on a bad day, but unfortunately that's not what matters when you are getting your hair cut. The first red flag that I should have noticed was when I asked for a buzz cut, which described on the website as "any cut requiring only clippers, up to 2 guards", the lady asked what length and I replied with 1 up to a 2 on top. She then said oh so like a short cut... me not knowing that is one of their cuts that is TWICE AS MUCH! So I went along had a good conversation. Went to pay and I said something along the lines of I thought the buzz cut was only $13 then I was told well since I used more than one guard it was no longer a buzz... keep in mind a "short cut" is more than 2 clippers so maybe that's some lost communication. But this is the worst part, you could SEE the line between 1 and 2 on my head, like a buzz cut isn't that hard I probably could have done a better job on a friend if they let me. Basically I got the worst haircut with a nice conversation for double the price. I can't speak for their women's cuts but highly recommend going to sports clips over this place if you're looking for a "short" or "buzz" cut read more

I have been going to bishops for around 4 1/2 yrs now. I started going when I lived in Denver and always had a great experience. Specifically the Lowry location is incredibly talented and super great staff. I moved to Tempe in 2020 and started going to this location. I had a positive experience my first time. Every experience since has been hit or miss. This last visit will...well...be my last visit. I wish I kept my confirmation email so I can grab her name but if anyone is reading, I had an 8/4/21 11am haircut with a dark haired female with glasses and her station is either the 2nd or 3rd chair when you walk in. She was awful. I've never had a worse haircut. I have an appointment at a non Bishops location to get it fixed. Not very friendly in the least bit. Did not bother to make conversation and didn't seem like they wanted to be there. At least 5 others in the building chit chatting, but not her. Made me want my haircut to end as soon as possible. And it did! Wasn't in the chair for long at all. I checked my hair best I could. Had her touch up sideburns and cut hair a bit shorter. I go home, somehow my sideburns still aren't trimmed the way I asked. I specifically mentioned I hate sideburns and hair around the ears. My sideburns look uneven. One side has longer hair than the other. The shape around my ear is atrocious. So uneven and I've been trying to reshape it for days. I plucked some hairs directly behind my ear that were very long. I'm not sure a scissor or razor touched it. I'm deathly afraid to know what the back of my head looks like. I've not tried to look. I've just been wearing a hat the past week. I am not going to this location or any other in the Phx area after this. The quality hasn't been the same since I moved from CO to AZ and this was the nail in the coffin for me. read more

I made the mistake of coming here because it's on my college campus and it was convenient. NEVER AGAIN. I wanted my hair highlighted and I brought in pics of what I wanted. Christian completely BUTCHERED my hair! Then he had the audacity to try to say he did a good job when it clearly looked nothing like the photo whatsoever. I tried contacting the owners for a refund when Christian refused to give me one. They don't care about customer service at all so I never heard back from anyone. These are extremely inexperienced stylists who practice on broke college kids, understand this. Christian has absolutely no business getting within 500000 feet of anyone's hair. He communicated like a total sociopath... zero empathy and all ego and he's right and I'm wrong, zero care about the fact that I was about to start crying right in front of him. My friend who met me at the salon after so we could get food was so confused because even he could see how bad my hair looked. This is clearly something Christian does often because when I checked the reviews here I see ones that weren't even posted that long ago that say the same thing about Christian ruining their color and then acting like a narcissist over it. Got a haircut, it was really bad. I scheduled a women's haircut which was estimated to take 30 minutes, she spent less than 10 with me. Barely even brushed my hair, didn't wet it at all, and just started cutting. I have naturally wavy hair but said I usually straighten it, but that day it was wavy. That wasn't taken into account so when I actually straightened it my layers are all over the place and it is super choppy. James Kaliko was my stylist and did an absolutely amazing job on my hair color and cut. I went in wanting to do a drastic change from blonde to red. I have never had red hair before so I was pretty nervous. He got the exact color I wanted and was such a pleasure to chat with during the process. The price was very reasonable, I was able to get a same day appointment, and I've never received so many compliments on my hair. Definitely the worst haircut I have ever paid money for, decent customer service experience. If you get your hair cut here, make sure you mess it up before paying. After washing my hair at home after the cut, I found that it was an extremely lopsided hack job. The person who cut my hair was not qualified to do a men's hair cut. I have somewhat of a bald spot on one corner of my head and a massive tropical overgrowth on the other side. The funny thing is I expected this to be one of my better cuts as I expected to pay much more than other local barbers. It is extremely confusing to predict how much a hair cut will cost because of the bizarre pricing guidelines. How about just giving me a price for a standard men's haircut? All I wanted was a low fade and for my hair to look good combed over. It looks like instead of going to get a haircut, I just went to Texas and let Hurricane Harvey make a mess of my hair. The fact is, I knew I was getting a hack job, and when I was sitting in the chair, I knew I would never come back. I even tipped decently for the cut. That was because I knew I was going to have to write a scathing yelp review soon after and because I almost felt guilty for allowing someone obviously unqualified to actually go all the way through with cutting my hair. It was my first time going here and I was doing a big change from having long hair my whole life to short hair. I asked questions the night before on price and showed the stylist photos of what I had in mind. She said it would be no problem quoted me 110 to 120 got there it went up to 120 to 130 which is fine I get it my hair was really long and is thicker then it appears. Spent 5 hours there the first time. Okay I get it big change want to do it right. The girl was friendly the whole time until the end. I liked the length and didn't mind the color but there was no blend it look like she put a bowl on my head and just bleached around it. Also one side was so much brighter then the other which looked blotchy and the fronts barley touched the dye. I stood there with her for 10 minutes telling her why I didn't like it she kept saying give it a few days let it grow on you its a big change. I'm like this bowl line will not grow on me everything else is fine just blend it in please I asked for a natural looking ombre not a bleach dip. I could have done that at home. Finally paid it was 142 by the time we were all done. I was so upset I was ready to go home and do a box dye to fix it. Until I realized I left my glasses there. I went back and spoke with the managers they agreed when they saw my hair and thankfully fixed it. I felt so bad they had to fix it because the other girl seemed like she was upset with me not liking it and didnt want to fix it. Thankfully it got fixed and looks so much better now. I mean yes it was fixed in the end and the managers were very understanding and nice about it however I felt pushed away the first time and if I did not go back it would have ended in a whole different story. It took 7 hours in total that day and I'm glad it was fixed because I had some where to be that night. They all seemed really nice but if you are getting color becarful of who you get. I put the before and after photos of the fix. I was thankfully happy with the over all end result and am loving it now. read more

Chris is THE BEST! I've seen him twice. The first time I got my hair trimmed by him a few months ago he maintained my length perfectly while getting rid of all my damaged ends. The second time I came in was because I bought hair extensions online and needed help blending them in with my real hair. He was super helpful in shaping them and showing me how to place them so that my hair looks great when I get ready at home too. He's HILARIOUS and a overall super nice guy who is very talented with hair. He's reasonably priced and I've gotten results from him that's just as good as if not better than $100+ haircuts I've gotten. I love that all the hair stylists at Bishops really pay attention to the details - my last stylist cut, texturized, and thinned my hair, which says a lot because it takes more than an hour to cut my hair well. I went to Bishops for a highlight and hair cut. I asked for a cool blonde full highlight. The stylist did the highlights and they were a very warm blonde. I asked that they be toned (something I have done many times) to be a cooler blonde. She put toner in my hair and then proceeded to give an entire other haircut to someone else. In the meantime, my hair was over toned. When we washed the toner out of my hair, it was purple. I asked what my options were because purple hair was not going to work. They suggested that I just go home and hope it washed out. The other option was to dye over the highlights with an all over color and hopefully it would hide the purple. I chose the second option. It didn't fully hide the purple and made my hair a very brassy color. I was there for 7 hours, never got my haircut because they "didn't have time". I was charged full price for the highlight, toner, and color to fix what had happened. There was no compensation for the mistake that was made. Today was the 4th time I visited Bishops. I liked the idea of not having to make an appointment- I changed my mind today! I went in and was hoping to get Christian who did a fantastic color the last time I was in. Today- I couldn't even tell you the persons name because in the two hours I was getting my color done- she didn't say two words to me. She seemed pissed and I don't know if it was because she didn't want to do a color or what but I definitely got the feeling she was not happy. ‍ And when did salons stop including a blow dry with a color?
