It seems like there is a nearly endless appetite for coffee and pastries on Robson, and Bisou is yet another entry in this competition. If it were the only place around, it would stand out, but there is substantial competition up the street from La Duree, Paul, Le Belisse Cafe (my favorite) and others. I didn't try the sweet croissants, but the plain croissant was perfectly good. The bread, however, was a disappointment. The barista claimed that "all our breads are sourdough." But there's more to sourdough than just the technique. There's also the flavor. And what looked like a wonderful French boule turned out to basically just be a big hunk of white bread. I didn't have their coffee, so it might be great, but with so many choices around, I think I would probably go up the street. read more

Stopped by and tried a few pastries and coffee after shopping We ordered the white chocolate pistachio croissant and the pear danish. Overall i found that their pastries are decent but overly sweet. The sugar glazed oh the pear danish was quite sweet which overwhelmed the taste of the pear. For the filling of the white chocolate pistachio croissant tasted more like a cream paste than white chocolate but it was quite sweet (or maybe it was a cream paste?). The espresso macchiato was not my preference either because there was a tint of sourness to it Overall their prices a quite high for both pastries and coffee compared to other competitors around westend and coal harbour area too. read more

I wanted to check out the bakehouse after seeing photos of the pastries and the aesthetic. I ordered the white chocolate pistachio croissant and a matcha earl grey latte. This rating is mainly for the pastry, as the staff was very friendly and helpful when I was ordering. The croissant wasn't flaky. It was dense and didn't taste fresh out of the oven. The filling was mostly white chocolate, with only a very light hint of pistachio. Since it's known as a bakehouse, I had higher expectations for the pastries. The drink, however, was good. I am visiting the area from the island and walked past Bisou on an evening walk and suggested to a friend we try it out this morning. First of all it's beautiful inside. I have no idea about the decor but the baking is beautiful. I had a canadiano and my friend had a drip and both were great. I brought a beautiful croissant home for dinner. When we entered, we were so confused on what to get because everything looked so good but then we decided to get their spinach and feta; it was really good. I was overwhelmed with the options and tried the White Chocolate Coffee Croissant ($7.49) and the Nutella Cruffin ($6.49). Both were enormous! The Nutella Cruffin was covered in coconut on the outside and had nutella and cornflakes on the inside! The croissant was not too sweet from the white chocolate but I didn't really taste much coffee. They also taste much better warmed up! There's not that much indoor seating and they have a few small patio tables outside. Had the pistachio danish and an americano. The danish was really good. The crust was flaky with a bit of honey glaze along the top sides. The filling was creamy and not too sweet. There aren't a lot of seating so it may be best to take out. If you do sit inside, there are 4 small round table with a bench on one side and small stools on the other. I've been going to North Vancouver for years to hang out. However, I had never been to nor heard of Bisou Bakery House until today. While out on a lunch break walking around I came across Bisou's second location on Bidwell St at Davie St. It's a small bakery with limited seating but appears to have many positives going for it. Appearance - check! Decor - check! Vibe - check! Feel - check! Taste - check! Location - check! I was very impressed. I will need to go back & try a few of Bisou's other offerings such as their breads, which look absolutely amazing. Keep in mind that due to limited seating - this will be a 'grab & go' bakery. I was surprised to read that you can find Bisou's baked pastries in major grocery stores. Bisou also started supplying goodies to Fairmont Hotels in Vancouver & has recently partnered with major airlines to supply them with pastries and breads. Unfortunate to have to add such a rating since we actually enjoyed our quick visit to this place. As the other review stated it has great decor and is very clean and looks pretty cool inside. The staff were very enthusiastic and friendly too. We also were offered a sample of their soup which was fantastic. The problem is with the bread loaf that we bought, since it simply wasn't good. There wasn't much on offer even though it was only five in the afternoon. This was supposed to be a sourdough with olives and despite there being a few baked onto the outer crust there was hardly any olives inside. What were there were not of great quality nor very large. I'm not a bakery specialist but I do go to a few considering living in the West End, and perhaps my standards are a bit high. However considering the nine dollar price tag we were really hoping for much better. Maybe others will be able to give better reviews to this rather new place. read more

I recently had a croissant sample that melted in my mouth. I also bought a baguette and it was lovely. On my next visit I bought a croissant and a baguette. I specifically asked if they were baked today and they said yes The croissant was not as fresh as the sample I had. The baguette was definitely day old.
