Love this addition to the Dunbar area! They make such delicious pastries and bread and everything is a very reasonable price. The service was friendly and fast. I was able to get my sourdough nicely sliced to take home. I also stayed in for a bit to enjoy my pastry. They have a small space but still a lot of seating without feeling too crowded. It was a great atmosphere and I can't wait to visit again :)

We took a drive this morning to try out this bakery. There was already a small crowd of half a dozen people waiting by the door before the bakery opened at 0900 on Sundays but we were able to grab a table inside. We tried out the cinnamon brioche buns and a lemon pastry with our latte and americano. My latte was rich and strong and I loved it. It's surprisingly not difficult to find weak lattes in Vancouver. The cinnamon bun was light and fluffy on the inside and the crust gave a slightly crunchy contrast. It was delicious. We saw a few patrons buying freshly baked baguettes and read the menu after we had come home to learn that they are traditional French baguettes. I need to go back soon for them!

4.5* Stiff! Stiff competition! Stiff competion for Japadog. In my humble opinion. If you like your wienie done in a very different style with a danish bedding, you need to try this. They only have one option of flavour for this unfortunately. Stiff competition for Beta 5 cream puffs. These are very good. See my pics. $3.50 each I know I'm coming back. Pricing is very reasonable. Parking available on side streets, although this area is getting busier with all the new development happening. Clean and bright. They're maybe 3 months old (?) at the time of this review. Seating for roughly 10 inside.

What a wonderful bakery for the Dunbar area. The alluring scent of fresh baked bread carried down the block! The plum and apricots danishes were the best that I had in Vancouver. They had that flaky crunch and fresh fruit taste with balanced sweetness. Cappuccino is made perfectly. What a feel good experience, through and through!

I heard the news that Bread Culture reopened in the Dunbar area, so I couldn't wait to visit the bakery after seeing the variety of baking goods on social media. Their baked goods were so appealing that it was hard to decide which ones to pick. We got the Caprese Danish, French Hot Dog, Pumpkin Crumble Brioche, Brioche Bread, and Almond Croissant. The French Hot Dog had a pork sausage topped with onion chips on a hot dog bun made from Danish pastry. The pickled red cabbage added a nice accent, and the Danish bun paired perfectly with the sausage. I really liked it. The Caprese Danish had fresh mozzarella, basil pesto, and roasted tomato on top of the pastry. I could taste the balsamic vinegar, which paired perfectly with the mozzarella and tomatoes. The combination of ingredients was perfect. I'll definitely get this one again. The Raspberry Crumble Brioche had a crumble that added a nice accent, and the brioche itself was soft and buttery. The Almond Croissant had a crispy dough, crunchy almonds on top, and a delicious filling. The Brioche bread had a buttery flavor and an incredibly fluffy texture--fluffier than any other brioche bread I've ever had. Overall, I really love this bakery. I want to try more of their different baked goods. I saw a cream puff that looked very good. I'll definitely be going back.

This place needs to shut down immediately. Everything I tried was phenomenal. Matcha white chocolate brioche + fererro roche choux bun.

Secretly tucked all the way in Dunbar is this cute little pastry shop that @breadculture.ca that makes some of the most impressive croissants out there! It was my first time ever seeing a hotdog croissant and it was one of the most elevated hot dogs I had yet! And it certainly made me question why nobody else have thought of this before! Hot dog inside buttery, flakey goodness! Amazing! Every single pastry we tried was flakey, unique in flavour and so beautiful! Aside from croissant they also have choux and fresh loaves of bread which are very popular amongst its local neighbours too. A line up quickly formed in the morning for this place an hour from opening so I world recommend coming early if you like to grab a table to enjoy the pastries there.

They were showing each other the flavors, and shapes, and designs. Sweet plus savory. Cutting them in half and sharing. It was the least we could do to bring these high quality goodies, made by high quality bakers, to these high quality nurses in the cardiac unit for my mother-in-law. We were so impressed with the staff at L'atelier. They know their stuff and their recommendations are top notch. The bakery itself is so cute and modern and fun. I loved that you could sit outside even in the rain because they have stellar permanent awnings.

French bakery on Broadway with lovely interior and good coffee…read more We tried the canelé, which I think is one of the best indicators of a French bakery's pastry skills. Unfortunately, this one was a bit disappointing. The interior was overly moist, the caramelized crust lacked the crispness I was hoping for, and the honeycomb structure wasn't very well developed. Overall, it was just average. We also ordered the Strawberry Pistachio Tart. The strawberries were fresh with a nice balance of sweetness, and there was a good amount of pistachio chunks. However, it lacked the layers of flavor that make a tart memorable. On the bright side, the coffee was excellent and easily my favorite part of the visit. I'd happily come back for a coffee, but I'd probably try different pastries next time.

It was a huge hit with everyone! The 6 inch cake was $69 and I added a customized birthday message on chocolate for an extra $3 which was a nice personal touch. They also offer a gluten free option for an additional $10 which is great for accommodating different dietary needs. One thing to keep in mind is that you'll want to order online well in advance because their cakes sell out quickly. I can definitely see why. They're fantastic! I'll be ordering from Gary's Patisserie again for future celebrations.

Gary's only allows to order the fresh mango cakes up to one week ahead to ensure they have enough ripe mangos, which I admire their dedication. We ordered the 6 inch cake for 9 people (7 adults and 2 kids) and everyone got a thin to average slice. The cake is definitely prettier than the other fresh mango cakes on the market, has a lot more mangos that are perfectly ripe and sweet, there is less wipped cream, and the sponge cake is softer. The family agreed that Gary's has the best fresh mango cake but at $69 for a 6 inch cake, versus $43 for a 6 inch mango cake from Saint Germaine, a cake from Gary's is definitely a treat and for special occasions. Is Gary's worth the premium price? I think so but not everyone in my family agreed. One thing to note: Gary's do offer cake in a jar that's $8.50 each. When we went, they had a BOGO deal with the mango cake jars. My nephew asked my sister to buy the BOGO deal knowing that the 6 inch cake was not going to be enough, as the kids like having a second slice of cake.

As I love desserts, I was so excited to see Chinatown and visit this place for the first time. This place was located in an area that would be best to walk with a friend or a small group- I was not quite prepared to see and experience what was going on all around. Finally, we made it there and were glad to order some doughnuts. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by the sweet smell of doughnuts and the two friendly staff. Everything looked so good, so narrowing down our pick was very hard! At the end, we ordered two flavours- Matcha and Tiramisu. The matcha doughnut was soft and the filling was light yet full of matcha flavour that one would expect, I loved every bite! My friend had the tiramisu doughnut and she said that she enjoyed the fluffy texture of the dough and the creamy filling- it felt like eating tiramisu in a doughnut form.
