A Nightcap Under 5,000 Pieces of Glass Late Friday night, end of a work trip, and we just wanted one good last pour before bed. The Peacock Room was still open right by our hotel, so in we went. Best accidental decision of the trip. You walk in and the room hits you. Dark, moody, eclectic wallpaper, the kind of place that feels like it has stories. Then you look up. A stained glass peacock ceiling, thousands of pieces of it, glowing over the whole room. I just stood there for a second. Wow. The space is big and built for good company. Plenty of room for four couples or a bigger group to settle in. They stay open till 1am, which makes them a rare find for us late-nighters. The bourbon list earned my respect. I went Michter's, Old Forester 1910, and Weller Antique 107, and the 1.5 oz pours were priced fair and honest. No tourist markup. My wife worked through a Huckleberry Heaven, a dirty martini, and an espresso martini. The Huckleberry leaned on real local huckleberry instead of faking it. The dirty martini came cold and briny with a clean bite, just the way it should be. The espresso martini was rich and smooth with a proper foam cap, the kind that wakes you up and relaxes you at the same time. We got hungry. She had the chicken Caesar, crisp and fresh with warm chicken on top. I went prime rib French dip with fries. Crunchy baguette, savory meat, rich au jus. Exactly what you want at midnight. Then we split the chocolate cabernet cake to close it out, rich and creamy and worth the calories. Tyson and David ran the bar like pros. We're not from around here, so Tyson walking us through the local options meant something. Real conversation, no rushing us, just good people who know their craft. If you're in downtown Spokane, do yourself a favor. Walk in, look up, and order something good. read more

The spacious venue has lots of tables surrounded by comfy booths and comfy red leather arm chairs. Service is quick, friendly and helpful. They are known for their cocktails, and have 9 beers on tap and more by the bottle. The wine list is limited, but fairly comprehensive. This Lounge is located within the Davenport hotel. For dinner I got the duck, 10/10. It was a melt in your mouth dish. I think the best part was the service. Dan was our server and was on top of everything. He was hilarious and made you feel good. The restaurant feels very very upscale without the black tie attire. Came here two nights in a row and both nights were great. Although I will say we think we had a ghost experience on Friday night. Yup you read that right, ghost. We were here for a friends wedding and we had two tall tables next to each other. One of my friends cousin asked my wife to take a pic of their family. There had been some conversation that the groom was in room 1104 where Mr Davenport had died as my wife took the picture and then we decided to do a toast. As my wife grabbed her glass, her glass burst as thought it had been thrown at the wall. I mean it exploded. If that wasn't bad enough the next morning my friends cousin came running to us to show us the picture and the washed out area that was in the picture. Ohhhh. As for the Peacock as a lounge, the drinks were very good and reasonably priced. The service was awesome even with the broken glass. Our waitress was not accusatory with glass and also talked about the ghost stories she had heard. They quickly brought my wife another Old Fashion. The Peacock room is a step back in time to the early 20th century when the Davenport was constructed. The ornate wallpaper, stain glass, dim lighting give rise to a very cozy atmosphere to throw back a few cocktails in. They serve some of the best cocktails in town and offer food from the Palm Court, Grille just across the courtyard. Their cocktails are incredible though the espresso martini was definitely the star of the show. If you're staying at the hotel, or just happen to be passing through downtown, a stop in the Peacock lounge for a drink is definitely well worth it. read more

You can order dinner it comes from the same kitchen as the Palm Court, a bit over priced these days, but enjoyable no the less. Located at the lobby of the Hisotrical Davenport Hotel. This was before shutdown but still COVID edition review. Masks were worn by staff, but during the time, guests were not required to wear them. I had the crab fettuccine. -- Alfredo sauce, fettuccine noodles, mushrooms, onions, peppers, tomatoes, lemon zest, and Parmesan cheese. Crab meat was generous. I think the sauce overpowered the subtle taste of the Dungeness crab. It was good. Chicken $22.95, substitute salmon $7, substitute crab $12. Other orders were: Charbroiled All Natural Angus Burger -- 8 oz natural chuck beef patty, sharp cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and fries $17.95. The best thing on the plate was the fries. The hamburger was bland. Halibut fish and chips -- Lightly breaded halibut filets , homemade tartar sauce, coleslaw. 2 pieces $20 95, 3 pieces $25.95. It was alright. The service is terrible. In particular the server named Dave or David is not only unprofessional but completely inept at uplifting the customer experience. He accident bussed our table and took our half finished French 75. When we mentioned that we were not finished with it all he could say was "what do you want me to do?" So he was not only rude, but completely unwilling to own up to taking our unfinished drink, replace it, or make us feel wanted. While the atmosphere used to be incredible, the service in the Peacock Room is subpar when compared to the new circular bar in the lobby. Amir, the bar tender at the circular bar, where we had a drink prior to the peacock room was amazing!!! The Davenport needs more service like what was provided by Amir and less or no more service from Dave or David. Management should monitor this type of poor service in the Peacock Room, so that patrons continue to enjoy the historical hotel during their stay. read more

This place doesn't need my laurel praise. This place is a four-n-a-half star. I will come here again for the delicious cocktails and the Crab Louie Salad. This was just after COVID, so they were still just ramping up. Everything was delicious. Everyone locally recommended it to us, and it was a wonderful experience. I was busy with family, so I did suss out the whole place a lot. I hope to bring my wife here for a nice evening and give a more complete review. If you want an upscale and romantic time, you should come here. If you are by yourself, I think the bar would be a nice place to change. The Davenport Hotels are perfectly executed with good rooms, bars, and restaurants. I definitely, can't wait to be in this beautiful bar and enjoy myself again. We went here for a nite cap and dessert. The stain glass is quite amazing. The best part was walking all around the lobby and into the various ballrooms both up and down stairs. The craftsmanship and detail is worth a visit. The bar had a nice vibe - my only Meh - was the big screen TV that is the feature of the main bar - I would have liked that to be off to the side somewhere, as to not distract from the historic peacock theme. Peacock Room Lounge is just one of those places you have to have a drink at when you're in Spokane. It's famous for the celebrity sightings and peacock glass ceiling, but you'll wanna come here for the laidback atmosphere despite how fancy the hotel it's located in. Since Peacock Room Lounge is located in The Davenport Hotel, the best and most swanky place to stay in Spokane, it may give off that it's snooty. But it really isn't! When my friend and I visited late into the evening on a Saturday the place was packed, but we were able to get two seats at the bar, sharing space with many, just here for a night cap. It's a casual place that looks fancy; that's all. Speaking of fancy, the bar seats may be the best in the place since you get the best view of the famous peacock ceiling above the bar. It's colorful, ornate and beautiful. And the bartenders were super friendly and knew how to make a stiff cocktail. I ordered the Cougar Gold Cheese Dip, which was super tasty! Who doesn't love Cougar Gold though? The cheese was melted with peppercinis, adding some zest and liked that it was served warm with a side of bread and whole peppercinis. I would recommend ordering if you're looking for a snack. But the bar menu does have entrees, in addition to lighter fare. Come for a drink and stay for the atmosphere. It's a fun bar in Spokane and though you may not be a guest at The Davenport, you can sure feel like one at the Peacock Room Lounge without having to spend beaucoup bucks. I dig it. read more
