This place is located in Santa Croce, and a few steps from our apartment in Florence. We ate here twice because the food was really really good!!!!! The service was A+, our servers were fun and super nice guys!!! Most restaurants we went to were small but very well organized and cozy.

Quiet and unassuming Al fresco dining. Aldo made our dinner one to remember, from the pastas to the Bistecca al Fiorentina. :)

Excellent Excellent We had the beef for 2 and it was tender, cooked to perfection. They cooked it rare and then pro iced a hot plate so we could finish to everyone's taste. We also had lobster over pasta, superb. Our serve Ove is a super server, ask for him him. I'd give this restaurant10 stars if I could. This is a gotta try

First steak we had in Florence and it did not disappoint! AMAZING! Service was great and the food was incredible. They offer free WiFi. Bathroom was nice, too!

Food was great. One of the best steaks I've ever had. Atmosphere was really nice. A classic Italian restaurant feel, mixed with modern rustic touches. Service was really good. Really nothing negative about the place.

We were looking for a place for the famous Florentine steak. and during my research this was on the top ten list on Trip Advisor and Yelp. All the others were only on one app this was on the top ten on both apps. food was delicious had the truffle fettuccine and wild boar ragu. portion small not really for sharing for a family of 4. maybe for 2 can share. the steak was delicious and some of our people needed it more cook so they brought us a hot cast iron plate. careful not to overcook it, then it becomes tough med rare is recommended. dessert is the only thing was so-so. I wish I remembered our waiters name he was excellent top notch. hate to describe him this way but here I go, he was tall maybe Russian and had bad teeth but very helpful and spoke good English I would recommend him for your server.

We came here after spending a day at the museums and was not disappointed! They were able to seat us immediately outside. I didn't realize they actually have a tonnnnn of seating inside and it's very romantic as well. They are known for their Florentine steak. We decided to get the lowest amount you could get which is around 1KG and they try to have you order more and say it isn't much but it's ENOUGH for 2 or even 3 people if you're going to order pastas or any other dishes as well. The steak was cooked perfectly and had the right amount of salt which was just a touch. The ravioli in truffle cream sauce was decadent! The truffle wasn't too overpowering and the ravioli was cooked great as well.

We randomly stopped here for lunch after a day of sightseeing. We were getting really hungry for lunch and were cold, so after a quick Yelp search on this restaurant, we decided to stop in. I had a glass of their house red wine, which was great. Also the olive oil on the table to dip the bread in was amazing. We started with mozzarella and prosciutto. Both were amazing, but the prosciutto had the hard crust on it that had to be peeled off. Besides that, it was amazing. I tried ribollita since I kept seeing it on menus. It's a traditional tuscan soup made with bread, vegetables, and beads. On a cold day I thought it would be perfect. I didn't really care for it. It looked and tasted like a big bowl of wet stuffings. A few bites were good, but it was too much to be a meal. My boyfriend's minestrone soup was way different that what we would expect in the US, but we both loved it. Prices were reasonable, and the location was perfect. Service was just ok since many servers stopped by our table and we did not have one specific person.

    Florentine T-bone

Food was delicious and our waiter was very nice! He "peer pressured" me into gnawing the rest of the meat off the T-bone, brought my wife a free dessert, and also brought us both free drinks.

    Pizza Napoli and salad Nicoise.

Very good lunch. Pizza Napoli and Salad Nicoise. Very reasonable price and good service.

Chianina IDP T bone med rare, side potatoes & salad. Perfectly filling for two. 2nd best steak experience next to the Wynn in Vegas

Informal great dining immed. left of Basilica Santa Croce. The IDP Chianina T-bone is worth the hype. So much natural flavor more tender on the filet side. Ordered medium rare, and our sweet waiter Aldo, offered to bring a hot plate table side to keep the meat warm (or to cook more?)...not needed. The potatoes are naturally flavored & cooked perfectly. Side salad we dressed with the table olive oil and balsamic. Finally a good table olive oil. Love the 1/2 bottle wine options. The zucchini flowers aren't stuffed but good (esp the stems-like artichokes). Only drawback is the mosquitoes if u sit outdoors. I'm normally a mosquito magnet & welt, but I got bit twice & no welt. They were flying around my hubby more who doesn't welt. The zapper hanging overhead is welcome but tad disturbing. Our 2nd best Steak experience next to the Wynn in Vegas

Not many places actually have yelp reviews, but this one had so many with great feedback. The food looked amazing. When we arrived we thought they were closed, but that is because they moved to a bigger restaurant a few doors down. When we arrived at the front, the gentleman asked if we had reservations, which we didn't. He directed us to the line with no reservations. The line was a bit long, but doubled in size almost immediately. It also started pouring rain during this time and we were ALL getting drenched even with an umbrella. The non reservation line was not really moving unless people left the line. We waited a good hour. As we inched closer and closer, the lines were now both outrageous and getting seated seemed like a distant memory. The staff came out and gave out Sangria and Bread bites to help those in line feel welcome. We did finally get seated and we were so glad we waited, it was worth it! We ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara, the lobster spaghettini and the chicken breast with roasted potatoes. We also ordered sangria. Everything was so good and our total was 83 €. Prices were unbelievable! We were amazed at the quality, the service and how large the restaurant they relocated to was. It was like a well oiled machine. The food coming out quickly and efficiently. I will 100% be back if I return to Florence!

Happy to say this place is still just as amazing as I remember it almost 10 years ago!…read more A couple of girlfriends and I discovered Pensavo Peggio during our first trip to Italy in 2017, and it quickly became one of the reasons Florence became one of my favorite cities. Back then, I ordered the Osso Buco, Lasagna, and Tiramisu--and I still remembered how incredible everything was. So, of course, when I returned nearly 10 years later, I had to order the same meals... and yes, I said meals! Fabrizio, the same server who took care of me in 2017, asked, "Are you sure you want two dinners?" I told him, "Yes! I want to try them both." Fast-forward to 2026: I walked back in two days ago, reminded Fabrizio of our conversation, and told him I was ordering both again. He immediately started laughing. Some things never change! My boyfriend ordered the pappardelle and instantly fell in love with it. We also shared a delicious cheese and meat platter and, of course, finished with Tiramisu. Nearly 10 years later, Pensavo Peggio still holds a special place in my heart. Highly recommend this cute little spot! It just goes to show that sometimes the best memories--and the best meals--are found when you venture off the beaten path. Some places are simply worth coming back to.

Am I the only one that thought steak florentine was supposed to be served this way? Maybe that's was my mistake but I thought that's how it was prepared in Florence. Anyways, I was immediately suspicious when our waitress asked how we would like our steak cooked and her suggestions were medium or medium well. Uhhhh what? That goes against everything I believe in! The steak came out on a hot stone slab on top of a wooden box. The slab obviously continued to cook the steak so I immediately took off a few pieces to prevent this. The steak was thick and tender with chunks of large salt grains. It looked nice all sliced up but that's where the compliments end. It lacked flavor and ended up cooking to be more medium rare when I grabbed my pieces and then even medium by the time my dad grabbed his second slice. Our waitress seemed annoyed when we asked for the truffle sauce to accompany our steak (my dad forgot to ask for it when we placed our original order) and walked away with a huff to go grab it. The fries came out cold and limp with flavorless truffle shavings on top. I'm not sure why this place has such great reviews. Maybe it got too big for its britches and the quality has declined? The one saving grace was the crema bruciata! And the very understanding hostess who gladly pushed our reservation from 7:30 to 8:00pm due to travel difficulties. Whatever the reason, this place definitely missed the mark. You can't walk three steps without seeing a steakhouse here in Florence. My recommendation? Try one of those.
