Prepared dishes were family style. Every single choice was tasty good. The bread and bottles of Brunelo Montalcinos kept the conversation going. Florentine steak was not dry and forgettable. It went well with other pasta dishes like the Tagliatelle Con Ragù Di Coniglio or the Osso bucco, Pappardelle Al Ragù Di Cinghiale . . . of course with the Brunello & Chiati Classico The dining that night felt intimate yet party-like with nary a wiggle room. Wow, what a special place. Set inside a 14th-century tower near the Ponte Vecchio in Florence, this restaurant delivers an unforgettable dining experience from the moment you walk in. The atmosphere alone is worth a visit, but the food is what truly makes it exceptional. We ordered the ravioli, pappardelle with wild boar ragù, the Florentine steak, a mixed salad, affogato, and fresh strawberries with mascarpone cream. To drink, we shared a small carafe of red wine and a Pinot Grigio. Everything was spectacular. The Florentine steak was easily the best--and largest--I have ever had. Perfectly cooked, incredibly flavorful, and remarkably tender, it was the highlight of an already outstanding meal. The pappardelle with boar ragù was rich, hearty, and deeply satisfying, while the ravioli was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. Every dish felt authentic, carefully executed, and memorable. The wine was another pleasant surprise. Both selections were excellent and very reasonably priced, making the meal feel like an even better value. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and incredibly helpful. He patiently answered questions, explained the menu, and guided us toward some fantastic choices. Although we thought we were too full for dessert, we're very glad we changed our minds. The affogato was fantastic, and the strawberries with mascarpone cream were absolutely delicious. One of the highlights of the evening was watching our four-year-old happily clutching two spoons and enthusiastically scooping fresh strawberries and mascarpone into his mouth. I called day-of and they squeezed us in at 6:15 (which was perfect) but everything before 9:30 was booked up. We were welcomed warmly by the staff (he literally said "ah yes I remember you" ) and guided to our cozy little table in the corner. It's super cool because their place is a 14th century watchtower. One of the few places that actually still sells and serves boar per Tuscany traditions. I tried the polenta and boar and not really a fan of polenta, but that's my fault. The bore was tender and delicious and savory. We also tried the Panzanella, which is a staple Italian breakfast. What a bummer this place was last night for dinner. We arrived in Florence late, tired and starving and just needed somewhere to park ourselves for a decent meal and a glass of wine. I think there was one Italian couple in the entire restaurant. Okay, fine, to be expected in August. But the service and food was clearly geared for that demographic. We have been traveling in Italy for over a month and are very used to having our meals coursed properly. Our waiter ignored all of our requests and unceremoniously dumped everything on our table at once (forgetting our salad altogether). Did Stanley Tucci eat here? Yikes. The spinach gnudi were gummy and flavorless. The veal chop was fine but needed salt and pepper to bring it to life. This was the only sad Italian meal I experienced this summer. Believe the hype. And trust me, I was incredibly doubtful at first, afraid it would be overrated given the absolute fandom around this being one of Stanley Tucci's go-to. On top of the pain of securing a reservation (they only take these over the phone; no online system), the only slot I could secure even as a solo diner was as soon as they opened, at 6pm, and via a bar seat. When I arrived, I was immediately greeted by several of the staff, all warm/kind. One of them offered me a table, even though I humbly mentioned I'd be fine with whatever was convenient to them. I looked around and saw what seemed to be majority American tourists so I had very standard expectations. Well, what commenced...my god. I'm getting chills now thinking about the entire experience. Just the absolute perfect dinner my first night in Florence. Everything on the menu looked fantastic and I was even tempted to order 2 Primi (pastas) but my server discouraged it, said they were quite large. Instead she guided towards the "must" appetizer, the "onion flan with pecorino cheese and truffle" followed by their signature pasta, "pappardelle with wild boar ragù" The appetizer literally brought me to tears as soon as I took a bite. I didn't think I liked truffle but this was life-changing. And the pasta was served piping hot and also to die for. I complemented the meal with a delicious glass of white and red and ended with the utterly divine tiramisu. I will be dreaming about this meal for years to come. So epic. read more

They asked that I reconfirm closer to the date so I did and all worked out. After viewing a beautiful sunset over the Arno River, we arrived to a long line to get in, but we quickly got a nice table in the back room with the resie. The interior was cute with several boar carvings on the walls. Husband ordered osso bucco, which he devoured. I had the wild boar parpadelle, which was delicious, probably my best meal in Italy. It's almost impossible to choose only 3 dinner spots in Florence with so many good options available but I am SO glad this is one of the places we decided on. Between Reddit, Stanley Tucci and personal recommendations from friends this one felt like a no brainer. We had a 7:30 reservation for Wednesday evening and upon arrival and check in there were two lines. One for people waiting for a table with no reservation and one for people waiting for their table with a reservation. We arrived on time and were seated after about a 15 minute wait. The ambiance of the restaurant is super warm and cozy and the service was attentive. For dinner we ordered 3 different pastas to share. I really appreciated that they split each pasta for us before bringing them out. I know that they are know for their cinghiale pappardelle but our favorite pasta was the Chitarra Pomodoro with burrata. It was simple and perfect and I wish I was eating it right now. Tiramisu was great as well if you are a dessert person but I honestly could have also just gone for a fourth pasta. For sure make a reservation in advance and definitely prioritize this restaurant if you are visiting from out of town. read more

This was our first meal in Florence during a 3-night stay, and sadly, was our least favorite. Perhaps it is the traditional menu that it was known for, as we are more into the modern flair. Or it could be the fact that we were here after having visited the best restaurant in San Mario and arguably the best Italian restaurant during our week-long road trip in central Italy! The bartender warmed up to us after seeing us struggle to stay cool. But the server took a while to take our orders after we were seated at the table. The meat at Osteria was some of the highest quality I have ever tasted. Coked perfectly and served with simple sides. My wife's beef filet was in a Chianti sauce that was fantastic.
