We were told we had to try Bistro 217 while in Pawley's Island so we were delighted when they were able to accommodate us as a last minute reservation on a Friday evening. Has a great evening out vibe but not in the stuffy or uptight way. Staff and servers were friendly, professional and handling the busy crowd well. We were served waters right away and a drink order was taken, then the beautiful bread basket was delivered and it had an assortment of carrots and celery plus, a crunchy flatbread cracker, buttery cheese biscuit, yeast roll, and a rustic sourdough roll (I'm guessing on these, but we ate them all!). For our meal we settled on the pork schnitzel with kale, brussels, and roasted potatoes and the scallops with butternut squash risotto. The schnitzels was lovely with its crispy breading, a creamy mushroom "gravy" and an onion sauce for the potatoes and veggies that was rich and flavorful. The brussels were caramelized and paired perfectly with creamy elements. The sautéed onions pulled the potatoes and kale in and it was just a great plate of food. Elevated comfort, Scallops were cooked perfectly and were tender with a nice "crust" and the risotto had chunks of pork belly and butternut squash for a salty/sweet balance. We really love this place! This is my first time having dinner here. I usually do the trigger fish salad for lunch. Yum! The service is always really great! We had a friendly knowledgeable server for dinner last night and the food was great too! We tried the fried calamari appetizer. Really delicious candied peppers at the bottom of the plate. I ordered the swordfish entree. It was flavorful and a beautiful presentation. The porch was toasty warm with space heaters throughout. We dined at Bistro 217 while on our annual Pawleys Island trip and it was absolutely five stars! We had dined at their sister restaurant last year (Rustic Table) and enjoyed it but wanted to try something different and this experience was truly amazing. We made a reservation two days prior for 5pm. Upon arrival we were seated instantly and they already had the high chair, crayons, and a coloring sheet for our daughter. The table was sprinkled with birthday confetti as it was my husband's 40th birthday weekend. This was a very kind gesture! Our server greeted us right away & was incredibly friendly and attentive the entire time. She was also great with our daughter! We were provided an assorted bread basket with pimento cheese, as well as waters to start. We both opted for a glass of red wine and their wine list is fairly extensive! We started with the Beef Carpaccio which is one of our favorite items to try at restaurants in this one was absolutely amazing! Probably the best we've ever had. We also got an order of the Bao Buns (on the special menu that evening); these were delicious. For our entrées, I ordered the Grilled Chicken Orzo, and my husband ordered the Braised Short Ribs. Both of these items were amazing! Flavorful and cooked perfectly. I love a good side of green beans and theirs were 10/10! Lastly, they brought out a sorbet for my husband for his birthday which was also very kind. We enjoyed our experience at Bistro 217 in Downtown Pawlees. We got the Front Porch Shrimp, Gyro and the Fish Tacos with grouper. The service was out of this world. Linda was so nice! The ambiance is great too, a nice inside and outside very cozy yet modern and luxurious. The gyro wasn't that amazing though. Let me start by saying this place is AMAZING! The atmosphere is beautiful, elegant, and very clean--perfect for a fancy night out. We went on a double date, and all of us loved the food. Our friends had been before and highly recommended it, and now we see why. I ordered the steak, which was cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. My husband had the ramen salmon bowl and enjoyed it. For dessert, we shared a chocolate brownie that was rich and decadent, while our friends had the crème brûlée--both were outstanding. We were celebrating my birthday a little early and from the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, elegant, and welcoming. The staff was attentive without being overbearing--our server was very sweet, and knowledgeable about the menu and gave great recommendations. The food was absolutely outstanding. Every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented--you can tell the chef puts real care into every plate. The tomato crab soup was amazing! It is the best tomato soup anywhere by far! The Korean Chili Seared Salmon and the Field green salad with salmon were incredibly fresh, and the portions were generous without sacrificing quality. Also, the homemade sorbet in any flavor was very delicious! We also loved the ambiance. The courtyard dining makes it feel both relaxed and upscale at the same time, perfect for a date night or special occasion. Make sure to make reservations--it's a popular spot for a reason. My chicken was perfect but the bed of Orzo and vegetables was the star. My hubby tried the swordfish, but when it was not quite perfect, they whisked it away and replaced it with the fish and chips which he loved. They wish me "Happy Birthday" , there were small, tasteful little shiny decorations scattered on the table! I was impressed. The waitress was courteous & friendly, yet professional. She brought us all water right away followed very promptly by our drink orders. They were quite busy. It was a Friday night plus it was Spring break. But she never rushed us. Asked if we would like to enjoy our cocktail for a few minutes before ordering!!! The food was fantastic! I had one of the specials for the evening. Diver Scallops with mashed potatoes & broccolini. The scallops were cooked perfectly. My husband had a crusted flounder that delicious & he confirmed it was! The portion sizes are very substantial! They gave me a free scoop of ice cream that was very good & our friend got a crème brûlée. Yum is all I can say!!!! I have been here for lunch a couple of time and sat outside for dinner prior to the Pandemic so it's been a while since we have been here. We came here because we couldn't get into Chive blossoms and Frank's this weekend and we were not disappointed. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive from start to finish. Our drinks were all well made and our group has a few. All of our dishes were delicious. My local flounder with garlic potatoes and fried okra was fresh and well seasoned. I have no complaints. The inside seatings were a bit dark without any real ambient, just very busy. If we had a choice I would have preferred to sit out on the patio which is nicer but not quite as nice as Chive Blossoms outdoors and not as large as Frank's outdoor.
