He said his lobster tail was covered in spinach. I would have loved it. My ravioli was okay. Nothing to write home about. But it was good. Portions were a bit smaller than I expected (see pic), but the food was to die for. Probably one of our favorite meals in Pawleys. My husband had the crab ravioli, I had the mahi and rice, and my son had the crab cake. They were all delicious and I personally appreciated the gluten free options, as well as the option to do takeout. We dined at Frank's to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. This was our first time at the restaurant so we had reservations for Frank's outback, which is the outdoor dining experience. Valet parked our car and we were greeted by the host and eventually our waiterTom, who was very friendly and let us know of the specials. Mind you we dined in June so being outdoors it was very hot and humid, but they do have oscillating fans to keep you somewhat cool. The gnats were really bad and dampened our overall experience. If we were to go back, we would definitely choose to eat indoors. read more

Stopped in for dinner after visiting Brookgreen Garden's Night of 1000 Candles recently. It was mine and my friend's first time visiting Frank's and after seeing so many different yummy things on the menu, we decided that the best course of action was to order several small plates and appetizers and share them between us. We showed up a bit early for our reservation so we ended up grabbing a drink at one of the outdoor patio bars (there are multiple different restaurant/bar setups all in one on the property. After about a 20 minute wait we were shown to our table in the back right corner of the main interior dining room with JR as our server. Service was great and the food even better. We went all in tasting the following; - Fried Deviled Eggs - Fried Goat Cheese Croquettes - Fried Okra - Pimento Cheese - Dill Pickle Cheddar Biscuits - Petite Beef Tenderloin - Cheesecake Everything was absolutely delicious and I do mean EVERYTHING. You won't go wrong with any of these selections. We left stuffed and had plenty of leftovers to take with us to enjoy as snacks later in the evening. Girlfriend had her birthday dinner with her girls here. She was impressed with the ambiance (art & fashion background) she expressed how great all the food and drinks were and I got lucky enough to get the braised short ribs brought home to me. Delicious, we used the leftovers in some scrambles in the morning. I can't comment on service but the reservation was for 8 pm so it was either that or 5pm. Speaks to how busy they are. We have been visiting the Pawleys Island area for years and have heard great things about Frank's. I made reservations in September for "Frank's Outback" for our November trip. This section at Frank's is under a tent with fans or heaters, so you're protected and the temperature is controlled. As soon as we were seated, someone brought us water, and our server quickly came over to ask about the temperature (he offered to turn up the heat or turn it off). He explained the daily specials and made a few recommendations, then brought out some bread with butter and olive oil. For drinks, we had the strawberry fizz and an iced tea. We started with the fried deviled eggs as an appetizer, one of the daily specials, which was grouper, grits, and butter beans, and then a 6-oz. steak with fingerling potatoes and brussel sprouts. It was easily one of the best meals I've ever had. Our server was friendly, attentive, and even offered to take our picture since it was our first visit there. While my dad and i were keen to the charge listed, we thought since we were getting 2! Meals and not sharing one, the fee wouldn't apply. The only reason that I didn't give 5 stars is because two years in a row, I've booked New Year's. Our reservations mysteriously dissapear later in the year. Never had that problem years ago. We have eaten there often over the years, birthdays, get togethers with friends or just because the husband and I crave their Pizza. I told them that I had booked New Years in February for December 31st 2025. The lady said that was impossible because they dont start booking New Years until March. My neighbor told me that it's already booked for NY December 31st 2026. It is now, January 18, 2026. Something is off somewhere. read more

We came to celebrate our anniversary, so we had high expectations, which were all met. The atmosphere, the food, friendly staff made for a great dinner date. We started with a fried cheese ravioli appetizer. Also added a small plate of lamb chops with Potatoes and Red Wine Demi-Glace to try out. For dinner, I had the Red Snapper special, which was delicious. Kim had the chicken with andouille sausage pasta, which she raved about. We had a family dinner outing here summer 2023. I know it is next door to a Dollar General and the parking lot is always crowded. I was told reservations have to made way in advance to secure table. The menu has expanded since we came here the year before to give more variety to picky eaters. I went with scallions special, the pasta surrounding had potatoes in center it was an unique taste. The alcohol is on point here, my 3 beers were tasty Grand Strand hazy IPA. My sister had a martini regular & chocolate martini plus 1 drink in between was three sheets to the wind. This restaurant is so deceiving, when you walk in, seems fairly small, but it meanders back. The outside is amazing, has numerous sitting areas and bars, a pizza oven, and lush plants, trees with fairy lights. Unfortunately none of the outside was open due to Tropical Storm Debby. We were a few of the lucky ones with inside reservations. Our server Alecia (may have it wrong - was a few days ago) was very nice and accommodated an 11 yr old, a vegetarian, a person with allergies, & 2 elderly people. Our meals were all delicious. We tried numerous appetizers, conch fritters, shrimp cocktail, crab cakes, goat cheese croquettes. Franks has always been our favorite place in PI for food and ambience but we have noticed a decline in the food and drinks lately. Last Saturday was no exception. First our vodka sodas had very little, if any, vodka. When our food arrived, it was barely edible. There was so much salt in our food that 2 out of the 4 of us couldn't eat it. I thought I would try the stuffed chicken but it was one of the saltiest meals ever made. Another one in our group had the fish special and was unable to eat it. Before last Saturday, we ate at Franks and our steak was not cooked to our order and the vegetables were overcooked. We love the Franks experience but will not be back until we hear that the food is improved. Others have noticed and we fear that you have become complacent in your food quality. read more

First time in and this large venue was packed. The good: the vibe is very nice and the pours on the drinks are generous. The bad: the food, at least what we ordered was very mediocre. We started with the goop app which is olive oil with olives, capers, and a roasted garlic head with bread to dip. It was under-seasoned and basically without much flavor. Sometimes taking a simple app that many Italian restaurants give away, and trying to put your spin on it, isn't worth the effort, or the ridiculous price you charged for it. For the entrees, I ordered the chicken francaise. It was also under-seasoned and quite bland. It's a dish I've eaten and cooked for 40 years. It is simple to make, yet chef couldn't bring any life to it whatsoever. My girlfriend ordered the 4 oz. Filet of Beef small plate and in her words, "it was nothing special". Lastly, the pricing is odd here. For instance, my girlfriend's 4 oz. filet small plate was $22.95. Yet if you add two more ounces and get the large plate it's $15.00 more! Yes, it includes mashed potatoes and asparagus, but that's a bit silly. Also, if you add a chicken breast to a salad, it's $10.95, but if you order pan-roasted chicken breast with prosciutto, fontina and mashed potatoes, that will cost you $20.00 more! We may give it a second chance, but after looking forward to coming here, not sure they realize food, not ambiance needs to be center stage. read more

I had made a reservation weeks ahead for an anniversary, we get there and the host seems to have no table sat aside for us, so we wait for them to scramble a table together and eventually were sat. My ribeye had a nice flavor but was 75% fat which is very disappointing for the price, the sides were less than impressive. Some of the worst macaroni and cheese I've ever had in my life. It has been a few years since I have had dinner at Franks, and I must admit I have forgotten how special this place is. First, it may be one of the most pleasant atmospheres of any restaurant in the country. Thirty-six years (I have probably only gone 32 of these) of being in business, and it gets better every year. The atmosphere certainly does not outdo the food. However, my 83-year-old father and my wife enjoyed dinner there last night. My wife's fillet was out of this world. It was cooked to perfection, and the sides were beautiful. My tuna was terrific, and my father had the all-American pizza, which would knock your socks off.
