    Grilled Shrimp Salad
    Lindsay G.

The grilled shrimp salad was amazing! I don't know what seasoning they put on those shrimp, but it's truly the best shrimp I've ever had. I much preferred it over the fried shrimp, which is frankly shocking.

    The Maine.i.ac with rice

It is a great place for fresh seafood offerings. Bistro feel, full bar, friendly service. Knowledgeable staff answered questions without hesitation. Enjoyed the "Maine.i.ac" sandwich with rice. A grilled cheese with 3 strips of bacon and lobster salad. Oh my! The lobster pieces were ample mixed with a light touch of mayo. The bacon was cooked perfectly and not the thin salty mess, probably Applewood smoked or hickory. They offer fried, grilled, Cajun, or lemon pepper for their seafood of shrimp, clams, oysters, and scallops. They have chicken and a nice selection of salads as well. Their version of dirty rice was well seasoned with Old Bay. I was pleased with it as my side. The atmosphere was pleasant with Christmas music at the right volume. I'd eat here often if I lived close.

    Crab cake

The Clam Chowder was probably the best I've EVER had & I've had many! I would come back just for the chowder. I really wanted the whole belly clams but they were sold out. I order the crab cake & the Crab cake was the worst I've ever had ...flat as a pancake & no lump crab.

Haddock lemon pepper Pompadour with sandy rice

Thursday late night dinner (8:15 pm) we decided to patron John's restaurant. Staff was cordial and greeted us with a smile, even though we were walking in 45 minutes before close. We enjoyed, their lemon pepper seasoning on shrimp and haddock Pompadour with sandy rice(very good with the fish). Both were hot and delicious. We will be back!

    Decore next to our table.

Definitely a local business as many locals were at the bar discussing life in PI. Seafood was good for the price. Couldn't help staring at the ship in front of me.

The PIT is especially exciting when they have a live band playing outside, and I love the fact that they have both an inside and outside bar for patrons to use. As for the food and drink I got, my margarita wasn't very good, but my pepperoni pizza was immaculate! I'd say it was among the best pepperoni pizzas I've ever had. I was also very impressed with our table's server, who did a great job of both delivering our food, as well as staying calm amidst the chaos of a packed house. All-in-all, Pawleys Island Tavern is a Litchfield staple that's a must-visit every time you're in the area. I would highly recommend you stop in when you get the chance!

Notable mentions were the escargot & fried scallops. DEFINITELY request bread because it's so fluffy and good. I went for the grouper special which was honestly the most unimpressive thing at the table and relatively bland. We tried a variety of steak from the New York strip, the dry aged ribeye, and the filet. They were all fine, but nothing superb. The BEST entree at the table was the elk tenderloin. It basically melted in your mouth. The table tried 3 different old fashions and were impressed with all of them. The wine list is EXTENSIVE and I didn't feel as though our server really helped sift through it or make recommendations so we went with the first red we saw and it was decent. Now the desserts may have just been the star of the show. From the pistachio ice cream to the dark chocolate creme brûlée... I'd go back just to sit at the bar for a drink and dessert! Overall the entrees missed expectations but I enjoyed the apps & dessert!

If you go in the front door there are a few steps to climb. If you need flat entrances they are around back. The host took us to our seats and explained the buffet to us. It is only a buffet place. But you can order a take out as well. There were two tables of food and a dessert table. The salad bar seemed to never end. Everything was cut fresh with no limp vegetables or lettuce. Marilyn brought me coffee and Bev Tea. It was plenty hot and fresh. I absolutely love their coffee. I had two cups before I even finished my plate of food. Marilyn was very attentive to each table and came to ours often. After I finished my salad. I saw Carie filling a plate for someone. When she was done I asked her if she could get me a chicken breast. My joint pain and back pain had been extreme this week. Using the walker was even painful. Carie said, "Absolutely !" She returned quickly and with a smile. The staff is so kind. The manager Tommy came by our table to see how we were enjoying our meal. I let him know the salad bar was perfect. The chicken I enjoyed was tender and juicy. I also noticed the teamwork between the staff was easy and natural like a choreographed dance. Bev and I plan to return for the Easter Sunday Meal. We all got waters & I ordered a glass of Cabernet. I'm a sucker for Oysters Rockefeller so always try these at a new spot! These were really delicious, however, there was quite a bit of topping on the oyster and it could've been a little lighter, but still so yummy and would order again! We all ordered either the grilled chicken or grilled shrimp tacos for our entrées and they were outstanding! They are served with beans and rice but you can substitute for any other side.
