My family spent several days at a rental home a mile or so from Gracie's and, naturally, had to give the local diner a try. Gracie's is an elevated diner experience...all the breakfast and brunch things you could want, but up a couple levels from a classic greasy spoon diner. Not dissing the greasy spoon diner experience...love that...but this is based in that historical experience, with an overall nicer experience in terms of food and atmosphere. Also, before we get into the specifics, here are 2 words which would bring me in from just about anywhere: Donut menu. Yes, they make their own donuts here, and that's enough reason to stop in, take out, or worship at the front door. We got our donuts to go after the meal...The coffee was GREAT. Too often, coffee, which should be the opening star of a diner experience, can be flavorless, browned water. Here it was good. Bold as I needed it to be, and the perfect foundation for the rest of the meal. My next go-to if they have it brunch experience is biscuits. They have them...you can get a biscuit on its own or, heck, go for a mini biscuit basket! I live for a biscuit-forward establishment. The Full Breakfast (submitting biscuit or potatoes for the meat) would have been my choice, but I decided to roll my own and ended up with a biscuit, fruit cup, and side of Hash Browns. The biscuit was good, large, and perfect with butter and honey. They make the hash browns to order - large hash brown patties - and with 2 different orders of them at the table, one was overcooked, too brown, and not impressive...but the other was perfect and delicious...bordering on potato pancake territory in presentation and flavor. Our server was fantastic...we had a large party encompassing 3 different tables in the middle of a Sunday morning (On Easter no less), which is, of course, the busiest time of the week. She was friendly, enthusiastic, and never made us feel rushed. If I found myself in the Hudson Valley again, Gracie's would be a definite destination for me. read more

Pleasantly surprised by this adorable roadside "diner" type of restaurant Gracie's Luncheonette. Very clean, fresh flowers on the tables, views of a huge stream and forest. Service was very friendly. We loved the avocado toast, the burger sliders, the tuna melt and the house made sodas! The food was fresh and you could tell it was made with care. Both tables and bar seating available. Gracie's is a great place for breakfast near Hudson! We wctually started with dessert (doughnuts) and the homemade doughnuts were so fresh. The Pecan Toffee Crunch was perfectly crisp and sweet and the Sweet Potato Pie was spiced and filled with this jammy sweet potato. Both were delicious! We had the monte cristo (French toast, ham, turkey, Swiss, honey mustard, and jam) which was sweet and savory. In addition, we had the chicken biscuit which had crispy chicken, honey butter, and hot sauce. Tasted more like buffalo sauce. We left feeling stuffed after carb loading for our hike. read more

Sad to leave this rating as I have loved this place before. I went with a friend this weekend and we were seated and our order was taken promptly. Our coffee came out and it was delicious. And then our server disappeared. For an hour and a half. I asked another server if she could get our server and she said sure. Waited another 15 minutes and nothing. Went up front to inquire about our server and food and another 15 minutes go by. This is now at the two hour mark. Our food came out, our fries were cold. And my gluten free sandwich was served on a gluten button. When I tried to confirm it was a gluten free bun from the person who brought our food they confirmed it was but it looked different from the one I had previously. Another server heard her confirm it was gluten free, checked, and said it was not gluten free and took my food away. At this point, I don't trust the kitchen and I said to not replace it. The entire time the staff was pretty dismissive and only when we went to pay did they actually act like they felt bad for the service and the gluten mix up. We still have no idea what happened to our server as he never appeared again. read more

They gave us a window seat with an amazing view. The food was really good and the service was great. My husband had the full breakfast and I had the waffle with berries and bananas. And Gracie's has them, big time. On a recent visiit, as some travel writers prefer, I sat at the counter. Lots of hustle and bustle, and then, Cheyenne approached with coffee and a large ice water, and a menu. It was close to lunch time (10:45am) and yes, Cheyenne smiled, i could order anything. An ongoing quest of mine is to find a real smashburger. The crispy edges, the medium-rare center, lettuce, tomato, mayo and a bun. that is soft and full of taste; okay, at least it doesn't detract. American cheese partially melted completes the package. A young man who appeared to do everything everywhere all at once behind the counter, A.J., approached with a greeting and more coffee. A.J., like Cheyenne, soon convinced me that Gracie's AF&C is the sublime creation of people. And these two members of the team are the very best, making a rainy Sunday brunch a total experience. Wow, just wow. Gracie's Luncheonette is a gem of a restaurant. With a super fun and innovative menu--and food that delivers on incredible flavor, I was super impressed. This review is for take-out donuts. Wow, totally worth the price and visit. Are they hipstery? Are they too much? Well, I live in Brooklyn, so I guess to me, they are regular donuts! Anyway, the family selected chocolate sea salt, strawberry sprinkles, cookie dough, and apple fritter (for me - I was trying to decide between that, the classic Boston Cream, and a maple bacon long john. The gentleman doling out the donuts said - do the apple fritter. Super fresh and will melt in your mouth.) I did not taste the kids donuts, but I loved my fritter and a bite of the sea salt (spouse choice) was quite tasty. The fritter had a lot of apple in it, so it felt 5% more healthy. :) They are also pretty big, so it took the kids three attempts to finish them. Although I have loved this place for many years , new menu introduce a year or more ago changed some of my favorites like ciabatta sandwich with humus and sprouts. Most recently I ordered breakfast and it was a very different experience, pricier, a lot less food, and a lackluster fruit salad. The vegetarian burger was not so great with minimal salad. We also waited a long time for our food and often the desserts window is pretty sparse. Please go back to your earlier menus and quality Gracie's. The water bottles looked a bit dingy too. read more

A WONDERFUL AND DELICIOUS GEM! I am getting married in the area in 2027, so my fiance and I wanted to try some of the local restaurants and cafes. Gracie's is a beautiful, clean, and welcoming environment, but I must say I was SHOCKED at how delicious, curated, and creative the menu is! As a Celiac girl, I am used to having very limited options when dining out, especially in diners, cafes, and smaller towns. Not only did Gracie's have tons of gluten free options, but they BAKE THEIR OWN GF BREAD! I had the most delicious Tuna melt I've ever had in my life (they use actual tuna steaks, not the canned stuff), and my family and friends enjoyed items like the mac and cheese, biscuits and gravy, banana fritter, and other assorted baked goods. We loved our lunch so much...we went back the next day for brunch! And OMG, the magic continued. I had a Monte Cristo for the first time in almost a decade (it's never a gluten free option), and it was spectacular. We will absolutely be returning to Gracie's for our post-wedding family brunch. What a lovely and unknowing location! My husband and I seeked out a drivable brunch place so here we were and it was great. We got seated right away, staff were pleasant and the location was ultimate. The Bloody Marys were spicy and decently strong. I had the chicken fried steak and asked for poached eggs. Unfortunately this was where they lost the star as the eggs were basically hard boiled and I look forward to runny eggs. My husband had the brisket hash and ate every bite. I've been wanting to visit Gracie's forever and I finally got the chance! Needless to say, it totally lived up to the hype. I went on a Sunday morning with my boyfriend and we were sat immediately. It's such a cute spot and looks like a classic soda fountain. Their bakery case is the first thing you see when you walk in and it's filled to the brim with delicious donuts and baked goods. We started with a hot coffee and an iced coffee with their pumpkin cold foam. Both were fantastic! For our meals, I ordered the brisket hash with a homemade biscuit and my boyfriend got the full breakfast with an everything bagel. Both dishes were incredible! The hash was absolutely delicious. Really liked this place! This isn't just a diner. You can tell the effort, care, and creativity that go into the dishes. My wife had the Cobb salad. It was fresh, and you can check the photo. It's pretty much what you'd expect. I had the Gracie's burger, which was two patties, lots of carmelized onions, pickles, and "truck sauce." It came with nice, crispy shoestring French fries and ketchup. You might find it weird that I mention the ketchup. But it's homemade ketchup and it just might be the highlight of the meal! I am not a fan of ketchup, but this actually tasted like fresh tomatoes, and was pulpy. It just might be what the Barenaked Ladies call "Dijon ketchup." Check out the drinks list because there is a lot of interesting options. The sodas are also made in-house. I had the root beer, and my wife had something called coffee fizz. Root beer was good, the coffee fizz (strong coffee with seltzer) was very weird at first, but by the end of the meal, she had come around to it. What an amazing find! Truly enjoyed our experience and Gracie's. Beautifully decorated inside with a large pick of bfast items and donuts. What else can you ask for. Quaint view of the landscape towards the back of the restaurant. Seats large groups. Had the full bfast and #3 Buttermilk pancakes. Big farm-to-table feel. Tatsy indulgence without the inevitable crash you get at other places. Favorites were the biscuit and waffle, although wished the waffle could've been a bit crispier but thats just personal preference. We also took a maple donut to go-- so good. Staff on floor and bakery were very nice. Only qualm was that there was too much ice in the iced coffee with minimal pumpkin flavor. Otherwise, fantastic find! read more

I really love Gracie's and am so glad it exists. The food is fantastic and, from what I can tell, almost everything is made in house - the bread, pastries, etc. And meats are sourced as locally as possible. The staff are super sweet and the ambiance is quite nice - like a somewhat old school diner that's been classed up a bit. The views from the back tables are beautiful. And the food is always excellent and reliably delicious. It also helps that it's always served with a smile AND they have fantastic cocktails. I love their Bloody Marys. They have definitely saved some mornings for me. This place is also perfect for families with children. They have top notch milkshakes, ice cream and super tasty burgers. Plus the addition of house made donuts, cookies and fritters really help make it a wonderful place to eat. Warning: it is not cheap. Despite the laid back old diner feel, the prices are not. But, honestly, you get what you pay for here. And I believe it's worth it - hence why Gracie's gets the 5 stars from me. read more

Particularly, their donuts but I'm here for lunch today. Hipster trendy diner feel with hipster trendy food, where everything is delicious and made in house. Expect to pay more for the quality of preparation and ingredients. Lazy Devils (deviled eggs), a hot-stuffed pretzel (artichoke and spinach), shrimp & grit fritters, mashed potatoes with gravy, and a tuna melt with poutine: $81 including a few drinks and tip. Stopped in for a lunch on the way home from Vermont on President's Day. The service was painfully slow. Server was great, but food (three sandwiches) took almost an hour. The food itself was very good, but a Luncheonette should be getting lunches out quicker. The bathrooms also need a very deep clean. Visited this after a wedding and after hunting for gems at the Livingstonville Creekside Market. This was based off the bride and groom's recommendation and they didn't miss! The donuts I got were fine, nothing mind-blowing. But the fried chicken sandwich was great. Really juicy and tender. Everything you could want out of a fried chicken sandwich. I'd love to comeback because they apparently do a lot of the butchering in-house which is always cool to hear. This isn't a destination spot, but it is a spot worth dropping by if you're looking for lunch and you're in a 30 minute radius. Love this place. It has a pretty comprehensive breakfast and lunch menu with am amazing arrays of donuts. I love their hot jelly wings, a bit southern and the hot jelly gives is a "thai" twist of sweet and spicy like sauce but not blatantly Asian. The loaded potato soup was superb and the elevated hash brown with smoked trout and salmon roe was delicious. Their chicken biscuit sandwich is always the right choice and I loved their version of fish and chips. More tempura airy battered fish than crumbly deep fried. Always get an array of donuts and share. Love their pistachio and the toasted coconut cream. They also had spinach and artichoke stuffed pretzel, which was perfectly for breakfast the next day. They have an area with a bar diner feel where you can eat alone and a big open and light filled dining area for bigger groups. The service has always been amazing. ORIGIN: Gracie's Luncheonette started off as a food truck and in 2016 expanded to a rooted location thanks to the acquisition and renovation of a once popular German-American diner (Koch's). Gracie's is led by two graduates of nearby Culinary Institute of America -- Allyson Merritt and Andrew Spielberg. CONCEPT: Given their background, it is not surprising to find Gracie's to be an elevated American diner experience, where condiments, beverages, and baked goods are made in house, and many ingredients are super fresh and locally sourced. LOCATION: Adding to the experience, Gracie's is off a country road in rural Leeds (population 377), and perched high above a creek. Despite this rural setting, Gracie's is a short swing off of interstate 87. AMBIANCE: A renovated neon sign draws passing travelers and residents to the diner. Inside, white walls display artwork, but the real attention grabber is what can be seen from the large south-facing windows. Here guests can get a picturesque scene worthy of depiction by one of the 19th century Hudson River School painters who once lived and worked in the region. SERVICE: With two car-stopping features, Gracie's is a popular destination. However, like many restaurants Gracie's has struggled with recruiting and retaining kitchen and service workers -- especially challenging in a rural town. A sign at the entrance (and their web site) called for applicants. During our visit, fifteen minutes after their 10 o'clock opening on a holiday Monday morning, there were only two servers, one of whom was also managing the growing number of customers waiting to be seated. As a result it took 40 minutes to receive our order. At that point, the interior of beef was tepid and not juicy, suggesting the dishes had been waiting for pick up for some time. FOOD: Thankfully it was possible to curb hunger with Gracie's donuts, which can be purchased separately at a counter dedicated to take out. These donuts were tall and yeasty, with significant flavor provided by the unique icings. I especially liked the lemon poppy seed and brown butter hazelnut donuts. Eager to compare a brunch dish I recently enjoyed at Norwalk's Tap Root, I ordered the brisket hash. My husband ventured to try country fried steak and eggs, something neither of us had experienced before. The brisket was cut into small rectangles and mixed with a similarly sliced preparation of potatoes, peppers, and onions, with two eggs crowning the dish. It was good, but not as flavorful nor generously proportioned as what I had experienced at Tap Root, perhaps it could be described as a dainty iteration. My husband's steak was a bit dry and chewy, but we both enjoyed trying the house-made biscuit that accompanied it. Strangely the sausage gravy that traditionally envelopes the dish was reportedly not available that morning, but the dish was offered nonetheless. To my surprise, my husband had scouted out information about the restaurant and knew to look out for house-made condiments. As a result he noticed that catsup was among the items not on our table and requested a taste. The catsup had a fresh, vinegary flavor. I look forward to experiencing Gracie's again and will look to arrive during a non-holiday weekday. Although our experience was not ideal, there were many indicators that suggest it was due to being understaffed during our visit. TIPS: Gracie's is closed on Tuesdays. Open through 3 PM other days, with extended hours on Fridays and Saturdays (closes at 7 PM). Local beer and cider are available, as are wine and cocktails. I look forward to trying the Orange Creamsicle on a summer evening. Breakfast items are available all day. read more

They serve breakfast and lunch all day, which is nice! They recently changed their menu, and no longer have the two items I wanted to try from seeing photos on Yelp - the poutine and French toast sticks. We ordered the loaded fries, which were delicious. The donuts are worth a drive. Their texture is perfection. It is like a mad scientist successfully combined sugar with a cloud. And the donuts break apart as easily as a middle school romance, but with none of the drama. Our group split a dozen of these sugar glazed delights over a long weekend. After much research, our consensus favorite was Strawberry. It is the highest form of the medium, an apotheosis of breakfast pastry. Our most skippable is the Red Velvet--still excellent but it is a cake donut and not a yeast donut, so it lacks the airiness and lightness that set apart the others. Homage brisket, they make their own hot sauce, local honey, and local products. Their tuna salad is made fresh from a tuna steak. The smoked fish salad is locally sourced & great smoky taste. They bake on premises and what a selection at the counter. The service was incredibly attentive. My waitress Gloria really pointed out things I would enjoy intuitively she really reflects that hometown hospitality. This place was packed when I got there and never stopped, yet they made you feel as if you were the only one in the place. Stopped here on my way to Kaaterskills Falls. There was a short line to get in as they had just opened. Everyone in front of me was dining in so I told the host that I just wanted to order donuts and coffee and she said I can wait in front of the donuts. Stood there for a few minutes without any acknowledgment from the 2 girls working that area. Was a little confused if I was standing the right area to order the donuts. Eventually a different girl came to take my order but that was a strange encounter. Anyways, I got the Passionfruit with Cocoa Nibs and Cinnamon Apple Cheesecake donuts and hot coffee.
