Perhaps the most unique and forgettable meal I have ever had in US! I arrived in Naples Friday evening and was craving for food. Head to fifth ave. Unfortunately many restaurants there were fully seated and fortunately I got one in Bistro 821. I sat next to a couple and they asked me to join them soon after I just ordered my food. It was the second time that I was invited to have meal with strangers but the first time that I actually did that!!! Nervous at first but it turned out to be unforgettable. We chatted everything from food, sports, cities, cars, to more serious things like human and AI. They also recommended several sightseeing spots around the town so I really appreciate it! For food, I got the wagyu sirloin pot roast as entree. Good but not awesome. It came with two huge pieces and a scoop of mashed potatoes and two carrots and green beans. The meat was OK, the sauce was a bit too thick and I thought it was not a good idea to put both savory and sweet sauce on the meat. The mashed potatoes could be creamier. I did like the veggies as they were not oily, nor overly seasoned, thus paired well with the already-heavy meat and sauce. I also got a side of asparagus and it was good. Complimentary bread was delicious. When I finished my entree, the husband just suggested that we get some dessert. So.... After nearly 2 years without sweet food, I finally got some dark chocolate cake with ice cream. An amazing experience! The first couple years we moved to Naples, this was my go to seafood restaurant (for date night, NYE, guest visits, etc). Absolutely love the Chilean sea bass. Last couple of years, we have been going to new restaurants in the area with varying results. My niece sent me a gift certificate for Christmas since she remembered when I brought her here with her family. I am glad she did since it reminded me how delicious the food is and how attentive the servers/staff are. We started with appetizers (foil gras and caprese salad). For our main entrees, I ordered the halibut special, and my husband got the seafood risotto. Both were delicious. Though I preferred the Chilean sea bass, the halibut was cooked well (buttery, flaky, etc) and came with lighter sides than the Chilean sea bass. The risotto was creamy with lots of seafood. Very good selection of wines by the glass. Overall, we had a very good meal and a pleasant evening. Since we didn't came here for their early dining specials, the check total was a bit pricey but is within reason for a 5th avenue restaurant. We Will definitely come back again. read more

My husband and I went to Bistro 821 for our anniversary because our daughter gave us a gift certificate. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked in and they had the table decorated with little hearts. We were offered a nice seat right by the window, and our server, Danielle, came over immediately to welcome us. We decided to order some cocktails to start. I ordered the "Cruel Summer" which was an Aperol spritz infused with strawberry. It was $15 and very delicious. The strawberry paired well with the bitterness of the Aperol. My husband ordered the "Oldie Original" which was their take on an old-fashioned. It was quite a large poor and he really enjoyed it. It was $17. The menu features heavily with seafood and I am not a seafood lover, so I decided to just get a half a wedge salad and then 2 sides: mushroom risotto, and miso glazed, Brussel sprouts. The wedge salad was quite big for being a half serving. It was very fresh and very good. It was only $11. The brussels sprouts were heavily glazed and very crispy. We shared them. They were delicious, and again, a large serving for a side item and only $11. The mushroom risotto was a large serving as well. It was $12 and good, but nothing special. The portions were so large that I was able to take home half of the Brussel sprouts and half of the risotto. My husband started with a house salad, $10, which he said was fresh and very good. He especially enjoyed the tomato. He loves seafood and for his entrée he ordered the goat cheese vodka, penne. It was $35 and he said it was delicious with large flavorful shrimp. We were honestly too full for dessert, when our server brought out a complementary anniversary dessert. It was a chocolate flourless cake with vanilla ice cream and accompanied with fresh berries and 2 candles. It was heavenly and we ate it, even though we were not planning on getting dessert. Overall, we had a wonderful evening at Bistro 821. Everything was delicious, and Danielle was an outstanding server. We also enjoyed the music in the background. I would definitely recommend Bistro 821 to anyone looking for a restaurant on Fifth Avenue. I came as part of a large group of 12 people. We were finally seated after some discussion of the validity of our reservation. There was a snafu with open table. So I would double check reservations before coming. Our server Lauren was fantastic. She was hardworking, friendly and gracious and with a larger group our food was well timed. I ordered the bistro? Bistro 821 is a chic, nouveau restaurant on the main drag in downtown Naples that offers eclectic cocktails and some of the best-tasting sea bass I have ever enjoyed. I would return just for the sea bass. It's buttery, flaky deliciousness that tantalizes the senses to a place of spiritual purity and strength; strength and spiritual purity. The sad part was I didn't order it. I ordered the white truffle dry-aged NY strip. While that was good with its creamy risotto and asparagus, it didn't compare to the Sea Bass that was out-of-this-world amazing in its flavor profile. Meanwhile, I enjoyed delicious cocktails like the gin-based Empress' New Groove and tequila-forward Jalapeño Business. Both were fantastic. Parking is easily located both on the street and in the nearby parking garages. We visited this restaurant with, and on the recommendation of my brother and sister-in-law who had been there several times before. Bistro 821 is on the prestigious 5th avenue and offers inside and outside seating. We arrived early enough for the opening special from 4-5. For $52 a couple can enjoy two entrees and a bottle of house wine. I chose the 8 oz sirloin with asparagus and mashed potatoes. The steak was lean, tender, and juicy. The vegetables complimented the steak perfectly. My husband had the blackened salmon. He asked for lightly blackened and it was exquisite. Hot, perfectly spiced, and flaky. The finger potatoes were tender and accompanied the salmon well. However, the broccolini was stringy and lacked flavor. Our server was attentive, friendly, and efficient. We had a wonderful meal and service from Angela. We smarted with baked Bree with a savory mushroom sauce. We were also served some warm dinner rolls that were very tasty. My wife had an old fashioned and I had the seasonal beer on tap. For main dishes, I had the seafood risotto. The sauce was excellent and there was enough to keep the rice moist without overweighting the dish. My wife had the pasta primavera. The presentation of the vegetables was very pretty as was the taste. We were too full for desert. The acoustic guitars that were playing was a nice accompaniment to the meal. A little disappointed with my recent visit. Couple of goods and not so goods: 1. Paper placed over linen table cloths is tacky, especially on 5th Ave. Its not Texas roadhouse! 2. Not a fan of allowing animals (dogs) in a restaurant for any reason. 3. Entree of rack of lamb was just OK...over cooked and not sliced thru the rack as most fine restaurants. Hard to manage. 4. Service was solid and attentive. 5. Bread service was not of a quality you would expect. 6. Managers were very nice and appeared to be trying hard to better the experience. 7. I had an amazing experience at Bistro 821. I would highly recommend making a reservation vs walking in. I decided to dine at the bar instead of waiting for my table & that was the best decision! The bartenders provided excellent service & great drinks! For my meal, I ordered the pick 2 and went with the recommended sea bass, jumbo prawns and ginger & garlic green beans. I would visit Naples again just for this meal! For dessert I went with the crème brûlée and that was good as well. Street parking can be hard to find but there is a small lot in walking distance (corner of 9th st & 5th Ave. The vibe of this restaurant is more laid back compared to other spots on the strip. For my main meal I got the gluten free shrimp risotto which was to die for and the portion size was great. The rest of the party got fish, lobster and steak. Very good service. Had the three choice entree with the seabass, snapper, and the wagyu sirloin. Sirloin was delicious and the seabass was buttery soft. I suggest that they brush lightly with olive oil and sprinkle a bit of sea salt shavings on top to give a little flavor. Alas, only butter was served. I ordered the caprese risotto with no added protein. It was very nice--creamy and flavorful--and was in the sweet spot between al dente and soft. It was garlic-heavy, which I would ask to be moderated next time. One table mate ordered beef tips and Gorgonzola. She liked it very much. The presentation was more provincial than chic bistro. It was very saucy. Another order the seafood Neapolitan. He is violently allergic to mussels and asked them to be omitted. The dish arrived with mussels, and he sent it back immediately (without taking a bite). Another ordered a dish that came out wrong also... a totally different order now touched by 3 of us. What a night! My first time at historical Bistro 821 and it was unforgettable! We had a table just on the 5th Avenue S due to Christmas parade, enjoying the view and the ambiance. Service is fast and attentive , but sometimes busy. However, we stayed till late, so sincerely appreciate for patience! We ordered Sea Bass and Snapper with a house salad accompanying by white wine " Cakebread Cellars from Napa Valle". OMG! So delicious! Fish, especially Sea Bass was something phenomenal! This place was cute, I went to Naples for the day so naturally needed to try a new restaurant. I had originally told myself I was going to get wagyu and lobster for my entree but they had an early dinning menu and happy hour going on so we sat at the bar instead. (I could have still gotten anything off the dinner menu but we were blessed with John and Connor as our caretakers and they did just that). They helped my try something new like the prawns, after I was telling them I wasn't sure what to get. They told me if I liked the prawns then I should get snapper. Sadly my picky ass didn't love the sauce on the prawns. I ended up having lasagna for dinner but hey they tried to get me out of my comfort zone. All that to say the lasagna was great! We had also started our meal out with some calamari which did come out slightly more chewy that preferred but that's common with calamari. For drinks I had asked for a lemon drop martini he asked if I wanted strawberry in it and yes I did! It was so good! Go here, sit at the bar, and have a good time! Came here on vacation to celebrate our anniversary and it was so lovely! The waitress was fabulous and so sweet! I had the brisket pasta and it was absolutely delicious. My husband had a steak and some kind of fish and he said his food was also really good. We shared the crab dip to start and it was soooo yummy. The ambiance is gorgeous and quiet, loved it! Excellent experience! SERVICE: Peter took wonderful care of us throughout the entire meal. At one point he glanced and saw that although our table ordered calamari, I was not eating any. He caught my eye and motioned if I wanted bread. I smiled and nodded and it arrived almost immediately. This is the type of service that deserves all 5 stars. He is pleasant, friendly, attentive and truly added to the Dining experience. BAR: Cosmo was perfect! Barely blush, full glass, no garnish. Yay! FOOD: The Snapper was flaky, the veggies fresh and rice had a sweet essence. The Chilean Sea Bass was also excellent, beautifully presented. The calamari was just OK. There were a few pieces which were overcooked, although most were fine, just nothing special. The bread here is not as high quality as the rest of the food. I appreciated it being offered, but the rolls were bland and dry. Not docking any stars as it didn't negatively impact the meal experience. We went early 5:30 to avoid the crowds haha, we were seated immediately and server came promptly and we ordered promptly but then it all went downhill. Took over 45 minutes to get our dinner. Way too long. And so crowded and noisy you couldn't hear a thing. Food was mediocre at best. Pot roast overcooked, tourandoes undercooked and asparagus undercooked. This was easily one of the top dining experiences in my life. The Chilean sea bass was absolutely amazing, it was melting in your mouth. The seafood and lobster bouillabaisse was out of this world, it was truly an orgasmic food experience! The appetizers were good - we shared ahi tuna rolls and tortillas with crab and cheese spread - but not on par with the mains. They have a very good wine selection, most wines were prohibitively expensive, we ordered an $80 bottle of Cabernet which was the 3rd cheapest in the least. Yet, I would certainly recommend this restaurant for celebrating special occasions, or for regular dining if money is not an issue. Hope to be back one day :) read more

Great service, sat outside which I always enjoy. It is obviously on the most popular street so it can get a little noisy but we didn't mind. Started with the Brie appetizer which was very good. Loved the sauce underneath with the combination of the Brie and buttery crust. The wedge was delicious the bacon jam and the crispy onions really tie it together. But what I love the most is that you could make combinations with the entrees. So I got both the snapper and the sea bass over risotto. Both had their own flavor and own sauces and the risotto created a nice barrier between them so they didn't mix. I loved the sea bass flavor but enjoyed the crispiness of the snapper. I will be back! We used to go to Bistro 821 frequently until an automatic 20% gratuity for a 6-top group was added to our check. Unknowingly, we tipped again on 120%! Luckily we noticed the automatic charge prior to leaving and corrected our tip. We emailed the management at #Bistro 821 regarding this deceptive practice however NEVER EVEN RECEIVED A REPLY! We were very disappointed indeed! Adding an automatic gratuity is often the case for 8-too or larger groups but not for groups of 6!
