    Sashimi de Dorado

What a lovely little restaurant right on the beach in Zihuat. Views are great, live music a bonus and service A+. I recommend watching a sunset here. The sashimi and huachinango were very fresh and flavorful. Everyone we were with had nothing but high praise for the experience.

This is outstanding! My dinner was excellent, the presentation was beautiful! Each one of us raved about the flavors! The guacamole and mustard was superb! We were very hot and our server noticed and brought a fan for us without asking! They were attentive to our needs! Recommend this place for a tasteful experience!

Pollo y Nuevo (chicken with eggs) poached in this photo but available in a style. Comes with black beans and tortillas

First time eating here. Generally good experience. Sitting area is covered by a high tent overlooking the beach. Tables and dining area were nice clean and well presented. Staff was friendly and accommodating. English was no problemo! Prices were reasonable for the quality of food and location. Had the Pollo y Nuevo (chicken with eggs) poached. Very delicious! The French toast, not so much. Toast was over soaked and under cooked resulting in a doughy center. We sent it back with explanation but second attempt was same. As is usual in most restaurants, ordering meals which are Not local is generally disappointing. As a note if they read this, bread only needs a quick coating of egg. Otherwise ecperice was quite nice. Major Credit cards accepted here.

Martin, the restaurants head chef is amazing!! Not only is he charming and sweet but he is a great chef and will remember your orders day to day. Not that you wouldn't want to switch it up, but he remembers your likes and dislikes. The prices are very reasonable ($6 for breakfast and lunches) and when you get tired of Mexican cuisine (not that anyone would) you can switch it up to American and they do a great job with that as well. We booked a cooking class with Martin and it was soo fun to walk to the local farmers market with him, pick out all the fruit and veggie ingredients than go back to the hotel to have him cook it all for you. Then - you get to eat and drink everything you made as a group! I loved coming down here for breakfast, lunch and drinks. For dinner, we'd try other restaurants, just to be adventurous, but if you aren't the hiking type (restaurants to the right) or wanting to continually pay for cabs (restaurants down the hill) then you would want to eat all your meals here, because everything is wonderful.

Staff hands down one of the most friendliest and Zihuatanejo the food was delicious The View amazing restaurant extremely clean absolutely no complaints stay there for five nights ate at that restaurant at least once a day they are surf and turf absolutely amazing

Limited menu for those with breakfast included in room rate

I want to preface my review with the fact that we were staying at the Aura del Mar and we received breakfast every morning included with our room rate, so my review is just of the free breakfast, not the full restaurant menu or experience. The included breakfast menu was quite limited - about 4 different ways to get eggs, but it was enough variety that we only ate out for breakfast 2 times during our 5 day stay. You got choice of breads, juices, fruit, and the main course. The quality was great, service was good and the view couldn't be beat! Just wish there had been more choices.

Great food ! Beautiful view !! The staff is friendly and very helpful. Tables for two or larger groups. Full bar. Had the stuffed calamari and tequila shrimp!!!

The view and the atmosphere is amazing. The food is good although it tends to be a little salty for our taste. The service was excellent. I would come here again. I would tell them to use less salt. My wife ordered the garlic shrimp and I ordered the coconut shrimp. She had the lobster bisque and I had the Caesar salad. The Caesar salad is prepared by your table and it is delicious. The lobster bisque was so-so. The place is very romantic at night.

It was very hot while we dined and there was no breeze. A fan would have been wonderful! The bad: You choose 2 or 3 courses for $1300 or $1500MXN. At this price, you expect really exceptional food. This just wasn't the case for us. I ordered the steak, which came with a green sauce and potatoes. The potatoes were delicious. The filet was more like a sirloin but was more tough than a sirloin. It was very disappointing, but more than that, when the server asked how everything was, he seemed as if he already knew the steak was tough. I ended up getting the coconut shrimp (4) instead. They were served on a bed of cooked and spiced apples along with a salad rolled up in thinly sliced jicama similar to a sushi roll. The second course I ordered was dessert. The pictures don't do the presentation justice because it is so dark, but the food is beautiful. Paying this much for coconut shrimp and dessert (basically a molten lava cake with vanilla ice cream) really left me feeling very disappointed. Would not recommend nor return.

Since we are celebrating 30 year anniversary, we wanted something special. Located on the Promenade near the fishing boats. It was authentic, and service was friendly and prompt. Our starter was Guacamole with thinly sliced and fried plantains, with crumbles Mexican cheese on top. A green spicy salsa, and one that I thought was sundried tomatoes but was charred plantain and chilis, which was sweet and amazing. It was delicious. Another appetizer was tuna (catch of the day) tartar. Fantastic. The main dish was catch of the day. Mine was charred Red Snapper with chili's and corn garnish. It was so good, I even ate some of the skin. The fish was cooked perfectly, moist, melted in your mouth. My husband had Seared Tuna, he said was the best ever. We are foodies from San Francisco, California and felt this dish would be in the Michelin Star category. We forgot to take pictures of the food, but now that the book is finished. Go there, see for yourself. Hopefully, you'll also have a fantastic experience.

Hopefully they will update some I let them know it was open. This time was perfect. The ambiance was lovely. It is not by the beach, but is really pretty with a water feature, open airy feel and live music. This year the music was nice, and we all got up to slow dance. Very romantic and fun. Our best friends that we were with also enjoyed and both couples enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. JD, the captain of the servers, was super friendly and attentive. Judy our server was super sweet and attentive. Top notch service for sure. The BBQ ribs were great! Our friend had the quail, and she was not impressed. Pork chops were really good also. We had Caesar salads (fresh, crisp, not overdressed), my husband had the shrimp chile relleno (I did not get offered the traditional bite to taste and his plate was wiped clean, he said it was really good) and I had the snapper and shrimp in a cream sauce with mushrooms and jalepenos and veg/rice - the fish and shrimp was very good, not a bit of that left; the vegetables were cooked properly, not overdone, rice was also properly cooked. We shared the Z lime pie for dessert, which had a sorbet type consistency vs a custard - very cold and refreshing. Our server was attentive but not overbearing and was fun to visit with. Am so glad we decided to try La Casa Vieja, we definitely will be back now that we know what we've been missing.
