The Madera beach location is really spectacular and perfect for a late afternoon sunset cocktail or early dinner. They have a full menu of seafood, steak, chicken, pasta, pizza, salad and other offerings in English. The dining area is covered and they have fans to increase air flow and umbrellas to block sun. They are very attentive to this. I had an incredible mahi mahi and avocado ceviche with fresh lime juice and cucumber, my husband had a fresh spinach salad with balsamic and prosciutto, and his main was a grilled octopus with light chili oil (not spicy) ... and my fresh limeade was 10/10 and would order that and the ceviche again . Their service is terrible. We left after over 45 minutes after we placed our order. Their juice was good but not the service. We would not recommend this to anyone. We were here 7 years ago and it was very good. They need to update their ordering system. Stop using pen and paper. That can get lost from the waitress too the kitchen. We are almost sure that's what happened. Even after we told the waitress that we were waiting for over a half hour. She told us she would go talk to the kitchen staff. First time eating here. Generally good experience. Sitting area is covered by a high tent overlooking the beach. Tables and dining area were nice clean and well presented. Staff was friendly and accommodating. English was no problemo! Prices were reasonable for the quality of food and location. Had the Pollo y Nuevo (chicken with eggs) poached. Very delicious! The French toast, not so much. Toast was over soaked and under cooked resulting in a doughy center. We sent it back with explanation but second attempt was same. As is usual in most restaurants, ordering meals which are Not local is generally disappointing. As a note if they read this, bread only needs a quick coating of egg. Otherwise ecperice was quite nice. Major Credit cards accepted here. read more

Martin, the restaurants head chef is amazing!! Not only is he charming and sweet but he is a great chef and will remember your orders day to day. Not that you wouldn't want to switch it up, but he remembers your likes and dislikes. The prices are very reasonable ($6 for breakfast and lunches) and when you get tired of Mexican cuisine (not that anyone would) you can switch it up to American and they do a great job with that as well. We booked a cooking class with Martin and it was soo fun to walk to the local farmers market with him, pick out all the fruit and veggie ingredients than go back to the hotel to have him cook it all for you. Then - you get to eat and drink everything you made as a group! I loved coming down here for breakfast, lunch and drinks. For dinner, we'd try other restaurants, just to be adventurous, but if you aren't the hiking type (restaurants to the right) or wanting to continually pay for cabs (restaurants down the hill) then you would want to eat all your meals here, because everything is wonderful. read more

Good food and view but pricey. Saw this place from the restraint next door yesterday and it looked charming and with a nice view of the water so came back today with friends. The waitstaff was nice. The place was entirely empty except for us and one other table. While next door was packed. Not sure why. We had a round of drinks which were good then ordered lunch. I was very happy to have a vegan menu to choose lunch from while my partner and friends ordered from the regular lunch menu. I had fried rice with vegetables which was super tasty and a good size portion for lunch. My partner had the seafood pizza which he said was really good but a bit oily. Our friends had the empanadas and tacos Pescado el pastor which they both really liked. Before lunch came we were given a big basket of break with an avocado dip, pesto and one other dip which were all delicious. I'm not quite sure why this place was so empty but maybe the cost but the food and service both were excellent and we would definitely return. read more

We ate here twice during our weeks stay at Arena Suites next door. First night was octopus appetizer and coconut shrimp. The service was world class, the food was excellent octopus carpaccio was Devine. We returned on our last night to split an entree and it was still more food than we imagined. Tonight we ate abalone carpaccio and it was awesome and huge portions. One shared between the two of us was huge and delish and well seasoned. Between courses they brought us a water bowl to cleanse our hands. The place is clean the ladies room was lovely and clean. We were there Oct 9, 2020 with Covid restrictions still in place. Everyone was safe, clean and wore masks. I can't make a higher recommendation. The mixed grill including the mahi-mahi was mouth watering. If you order oysters chances are they will have been pulled from the rocks at this beach just a few minutes before they serve them! read more

We have been staying in the adjacent Hotel Aura Del Mar for a week. The monsoon rains have begun and many local restaurants are closed. Bistro Del Mar has been so good we haven't missed them. Breakfast here is very good for a reasonable price. The seafood has been great, particularly the red snapper with tarragon and the shrimp and fish tacos are excellent. The lobster tacos with black beans are delicious. So is the flan. They have the usual meat and poultry plus a wood fired pizza oven. The mixed drinks are great, the beer is cold and the smiles from the staff are big. And the beach level view of the incoming tide is fantastic. The walk into Zihuatanejo along the beach is easy, but because of this restaurant we did it less than I thought we would. We really liked this place and felt welcomed. read more

I want to preface my review with the fact that we were staying at the Aura del Mar and we received breakfast every morning included with our room rate, so my review is just of the free breakfast, not the full restaurant menu or experience. The included breakfast menu was quite limited - about 4 different ways to get eggs, but it was enough variety that we only ate out for breakfast 2 times during our 5 day stay. You got choice of breads, juices, fruit, and the main course. The quality was great, service was good and the view couldn't be beat! Just wish there had been more choices. read more

The view and the atmosphere is amazing. The food is good although it tends to be a little salty for our taste. The service was excellent. I would come here again. I would tell them to use less salt. My wife ordered the garlic shrimp and I ordered the coconut shrimp. She had the lobster bisque and I had the Caesar salad. The Caesar salad is prepared by your table and it is delicious. If you want bad American food with great table-side service (why!), look no further. We went there in Christmas Eve, 2016. It was our first night in Zihuatenejo and we ended up there because many other places were closed. We braved the exclusively old white clientele already sitting in there (a very bad sign in Mexico) and went in thinking how bad could it be. It exceeded our expectations! We ordered the special salad with shrimp and mango, a gazpacho soup and a whole fried red snapper along with a couple of Pina colada. The good: the gazpacho was decent and the drinks were ok. The bad: the salad was unremarkable and the shrimps tasted like your typical supermarket frozen shrimp. The ugly: the red snapper tasted stale and was overfried. Before you judge me for ordering that preparation (IMO, frying should only be reserved for rotten fish), know that they offered it only that way. And when we asked for something spicy, the waiter categorically denied the existence of any such thing on their menu and it was clear that all of their clientele usually looks for that guarantee. I'd recommend going in there only for drinks and the view or if you hate Mexican food but if the latter, you are much better off in Florida with your steak and potatoes. Leave Mexico alone. read more
