You have an option between a blind, six-course tasting menu or à la carte. Honestly, there are enough things that I don't like that I was worried about a blind tasting. This was no problem. The server happily brought us the menu, so we could say if there was something we simply would not want to eat. It all looked good and we put ourselves in the kitchen's capable hands. Each dish was interesting, beautiful, and delicious. My only quibble was that the support server who presented two of our dishes twice said that she did not know how to explain an element of the dish in English. When dining at a one-star Michelin restaurant, and when the menu is a blind tasting, you want to know what you're eating. I mentioned this to the manager at the end of the evening and he said that her English is quite good, but she is shy. He said that he would keep an eye on the situation and make sure that she was thoroughly explaining the dishes to both their French- and English-speaking guests. The ambience is a very clean, white, natural setting. The service was pleasant. The food was delicious. Strong recommend when you are in Quebec City.

Everything is so white and the place is stunning. I loved every detail down to the gabbro utensil holder (yes, I asked where they got it haha). Alec is the manager but for the night, he was part of the service and he was amazing. The attention to detail was truly impressive. I had to step away to use the restroom and they were about to serve the next dish, however once they noticed I hadn't arrived they all went back to the kitchen to wait for me. Every course was delectable and the presentation was stunning. The clarette mocktail was so good - the best mocktail I've ever had. The shiso, kimchi and horseradish was one of my favorites. I was shocked by how well the flavors went together and from a leaf! The lobster roll was so good and we decided to do the add-on with caviar and we were so glad we did because the pairing was perfect. Chef Leduc and his team prepared an incredible meal, one I will remember for years. The beans were good, much like beans usually are. The mixed vegetables were string beans, carrots, and tomatoes on top of what appeared to be cooked purple cabbage (?). Good, but also barely room temperature. Included on my plate was something with which I am not familiar. A reddish purple pickled beets and onions (?) that was cool and slightly sweet. I enjoyed this a lot. Needless to say, the main course was a lot of food. I had to take my dessert to go. My choice, chocolate pie, was heavenly. The crust was crisp and it was served in a thin sweet red syrup of some sort. I'm certain it would have tasted even better at the restaurant. (I ate this pie later that evening after carrying it around, then refrigerating it, so it wasn't in its best form.) It is very telling that of all the Michelin restaurants across Canada, so many of them are concentrated in the Quebec City area. These people live for food! Their passion for local, quality ingredients are always showcased in ways that highlight the joy that eating brings to our lives. Taniere serves only chef's tasting menus, so do come very hungry! Like all restaurants of this caliber, the staff is a well-oiled machine. You will not experience better service than what you experience here. Every need is anticipated and everything is impeccably timed and choreographed. There is no hovering, but the team assigned to you is always nearby if you think you need them outside their "scheduled visits." [Which you won't.] You will start in one room with ancient stone tunnel ceilings. Here you will have some drinks to start and an amuse bouche. The staff will tell you about the history of the building, which is super interesting, and how they honor that history as well as use it for inspiration in their dishes. A short time later, you will be ushered to a second room, more consistent with what one might imagine when one imagines a Michelin dining room to look like. The space is beautifully enhanced with impactful art and stunning interior lighting. In here you will eat most of the courses of your meal. We got the wine pairing (which I insist you do as well) and this room is where their sommelier gets to shine. The pairings were so special and unique and like a good wine pairing should, truly enhanced each dish. We were looking up bottle after bottle to see if we could buy some of the wines back home. Sad news: many of these wines are very niche and special! Another reason to spring for the pairing when dining here. Last, you will be ushered into a final room evocative of a winter wonderland. Your final courses are served here. We were stupid full (and maybe a little tipsy) so we were happy to "people watch" and wind down in this calming room. This is an expensive meal, I won't lie to you. Add on the wine pairing, and....yeah, this is a special occasion meal for sure. Even considering the cost, I do not hesitate to say this should be at the top of your Quebec City dining priority list. The food is off the hook, and changes so frequently that it's pointless for me to highlight specific dishes. We had an amazing charred broccolli, a seasonal morel dish, razor clams, and unique egg mayo concoction. Doesn't matter. the food will be exceptional whatever they are serving. Thier Michelin Bib Gourmand (exceptional food at reasonable prices) designation is well deserved. But if the soul of Buvette Scott is the food, the heart is Marine, who appeared to be the only server on duty while we were there. She is a transplanted Brit (I believe), with a quick smile and a sassy outlook. Even as busy as she was, she had the time to engage us and make us feel like we were old friends. Stories were told, laughing was had. We were the last two left from the first dinner seating that day, and Marine and part of the kitchen team sat at the bar with us as we finished and shared insights about Quebec City and how they ended up there. Rarely have I felt so comfortable and at home in a place I have never been before. Really good restaurants serve up really good food...
