I went here on a Friday night around 8:45 for a late night dinner with 3 friends. We had a reservation but upon arrival we had our pick of seats; high top, bar or dining room. We chose a hightop in the bar area. We were greeted with a friendly welcome and took our seats. Next we were given menus and asked if we wanted still or sparkling water. The place is nicely decorated with wooden walls, wine bottles strategically positioned on the walls and table set ups. Our waitress was Ada who was very friendly and attentive. We ordered drinks and were given just the right amount of time with the menus. My date and I selected three tapas to share and a nice bottle of wine. The other couple selected a salad to share and two entrees. All of our choices were served hot and timed perfectly. The food was delicious and the entrees were huge! Dropped in for a drink at the Milford branch of Bistro Mediterranean to check it out before making dinner reservations. Great happy hour prices !!! I was pleasantly surprised to find that a contemporary refresh of the bar area, dining room & bathrooms gave the establishment an upscale vibe. A predominance of Male servers & bartenders dressed in color coordinated vests shirts & ties provided a nice semi-sophisticated touch to the place overall. Returned for dinner the following evening & was impressed by the very well balanced selections of tapas, salads, entrees & desserts. Several different shrimp tapas were perfectly cooked & with excellent flavors. My skirt steak was cooked on a flat top grill ( wish it had been flame broiled instead ) & it was generously sized if a tad bit under seasoned in-spite of the rosemary inflected sauce. I was Greeted at the door immediately and was able to sit in the area I wanted and was comfortable with. Music was soft and easy going. Staff were so friendly and presented with the drink and food menus. I ordered a the Pink Flirtini to start... A Delicious libation to whet your whistle while you decide on what to order. I settled on the Gambia's Al Ajillo was so good. Seasoning so good it will make your tastebuds scream with joy. I also ordered the Scallops. The scallops were not as favorful, so when Leo asked if I liked it, I told him that I hoped to get the flavor that the shrimp had Because the scallops seemed bland to me after eating the delicious Gambas. I would have liked to see the scallops seared on the sides. He immediately took my plate and said "I'll make it right and don't worry about it. I'll make it right." The new version came out so much better, they disappeared quickly. I ordered a wine Sabeos Albariño to go with the main course. Again, delicious. Finished my main course and he came back to produce a dessert menu... for normal people, this would meet the goal of finishing like a king or queen. Went with the crème brûlée with Café con Leche y Azucar. A little café ole to get me back home up to Norwich. Have mercy. Note that the Coffee is strong and will help you keep going for the evening. I did do a walk around and loved the intimate little space that they have between the front dining area in the back dining area. It's very intimate and definitely a spot I would go to if I was wanting to have a special night with a significant other. Secluded with a fireplace. It is located across the street from Silver Sand Pizza. If you are stopping into the area for an appointment, take the extra 15 minutes to driver over and visit. I went with a friend for lunch around 1:00. We were the only patrons for the entire meal. The calamari appetizer was good, but the eggplant not so much. Recipes that contain fresh tomatoes should only be served in the summer. The service was slow considering no one else was there. Hello All, We wanted a nice place to celebrate my mother's 89th birthday. We decided on Bistro Mediterranean on New Haven Ave in Milford. Sometimes you know right away when you made the right decision. We were greeted at the door by the hostess who very pleasantly sat us in the dinning room. Its as if we were the only diners in the restaurant. Service staff came over right away to pour water and ask if there were any drinks required. We ordered an array of dishes of which all were better than the next.(see pics) From the octopus' to the seafood Paella all are recommended! However with that said, as good as the food was it was the Red wine Sangria that my mother couldn't stop raving about. Alex at the bar heard us talking about our celebration and without a skip, at the end of our meal the staff was in the dining hall with a complimentary Ice cream with candle singing happy birthday, I could not have planned it better. Finally tried Bistro Mediterran It was delicious. The food was fresh, presented well, and prices were excellent for the amount they gave. Service was spot on too. I highly recommend and look forward to going back. Cocktails were delicious. Started with the Matador. The spiciest drink I've had any where!! They bring around plenty of warm bread with olives. The bread was delicious so we knew it was good start. We shared the Grilled Octopus for an app. Fresh and delicious. Big enough for a meal. A friend had Lobster Bisque which he said was very good and plenty of scallops too. My husband had the Valencia Paella and loved it. Our friends had the Tuna and said it was delicious and fresh. I just had the pleasure of discovering this restaurant on our few day stay in Milford. The menu sounded appealing so my wife and I gave it a try. On entering we were greeted right away and were surprised at the tasteful and elegant decor inside. We weren't looking for a big meal so shared this delicious and fresh beet salad and their Valencia Paella. Delicious young shellfish, shrimp and chunks of chicken and chorizo with a savory sauce. Unique and flavorful. We finished off with a tasty citrus flan. The white Sangria drink made it hard to resist a second glass. If I lived here instead of Long Island, we would be regulars checking out their special food themed nights during other weekdays. Here is a hidden in plain sight jem!!! Being a big fan of Bistro Mediterranean in Westbrook, I was getting ready to make a reservation there when I noticed that they had opened in Milford. The outside is nothing remarkable but the inside is tastefully done...It is a big open bar in the front and an atrium seating to the right and the regular dining table separated from the bar by a wall. The waitstaff is friendly and very helpful! The food is absolutely amazing. My party had the beef medallions tapas and the beef was perfectly cooked the cheese melted nicely and the bread and sauce were fantastic. The main courses were rack of lamb, perfectly cooked, so flavorful and tender, the spinach was yummy, and mashed potatoes were great... The skirt steak was perfectly cooked and tender, used my butter knife to cut it... The dessert was tres Leche cake and it was so moist and delicious. The rose sangria was wonderful. A delicious and sophisticated evening at Bistro! We started with their signature garlic shrimp, and a plate of sautéed artichokes over green salad. For mains, the menu staple hanger steak, and a special of monkfish over risotto. We saw many dishes of paella go by--must order that next time! The flavors were rich and textured, and complimented by red and white Spanish wines. We were too full for dessert--portions are generous. A Perfect Anniversary Dinner! We were searching for a new restaurant to celebrate our anniversary--something with great ambience, delicious food, and reasonable prices. Bistro Mediterraneo exceeded all expectations! The garlic shrimp was absolutely to die for. Be sure to save some of their freshly baked bread to soak up the incredible sauce--it's a must. My husband ordered the rack of lamb and gave it a solid 5 stars. I was torn between several tempting dishes, but our friendly and knowledgeable waiter recommended the paella. I've always been hesitant to order paella out because my mom's recipe sets a high bar... but wow! Bistro Mediterraneo's version was AMAZING. (Sorry, Mom!) This restaurant was woefully understaffed for Valentine's Day. We drove from New Jersey to celebrate my buddy's Birthday which also happens to be on Valentine's Day. Our reservation was at 8pm and we got there early to suprise him. We were seated bout 10 minutes early and waited for my buddy who arrived at 8. We sat at our table for about 30 minutes (at which time we searched for a waiter). Our mistake was asking for a wine list which we got, but the waiter rushed off and we did not see him again. After another 15 minutes or so, I got up and asked to speak to a manager and returned to our table. After another 15 minutes with no one coming to our table (there were two other tables in our section who did not see a waiter) we got up and left. Funny thing is a food runner came to our table twice to drop off food only to find we did not order. Both my wife and I worked our way through college and some years after that waiting table. I am usually very understanding since I worked in the industry. What I don't understand is that your full with reservations so you know every table will be full, yet you don't have enough staff and whatever manager or managers you have did not appear to have the situation under control. We were lucky enough to find another place around 9:30 that could take us, but what about the others that tried to dine at Bistro that did not have such luck? If anyone from Bistro reads this, please take corrective measures. Food looked great and nice ambiance, but won't do any good with such lack of service. read more

What a great luncheon we had yesterday at Bistro Mediterranean. I went yesterday with two girlfriends to celebrate the birthday of one of them. Although the restaurant doesn't look like much on the outside , you open the door and enter a welcoming venue with a wonderful ambience. The luncheon menu was impressive with a nice selection of appetizers and tapas, salads, sandwiches, and entrees, something for everyone. I had the chicken portobello panini with salad that was absolutely delicious with a glass of Pinot Grigio that I really enjoyed. Both of my friends loved their lunch selection too. We told our waiter we were celebrating a birthday so we ordered the chocolate lava cake that was so delicious and it was a good sized piece. Our waiter brought us a slice of tiramisu on the house since we were celebrating a birthday. I am not a fan of tiramisu but this one was so light and delicious. I look forward to a return trip here. What a fun place! We really enjoyed our food. We got mostly tapas and their Brussels sprouts salad, which was so damn delicious and different. We both thought that the garlic shrimp, grilled calamari, and tuna tartare were first rate tapas. We LOVED the cocktails menu -- the whiskey peach something something was one of the most drinkable and tasty cocktails I've had in a long time. If I wasn't driving, I could have had 7-8! We started with Tapas shrimp in a garlic sauce and chorizo with white beans in a fig reduction sauce and they gave warm crusty bread to dip in the sauces Amazing!! The menu looks incredible.. these negative reviews seem to be people who didn't get their own way for whatever reason. This place deserves a chance. My bartender was attentive and very nice. I will be back to try the food. Please support your local business and stop giving bad reviews because you couldn't have a half a glass of wine. Pay for a full glass and drink half. This was my second time at this location. The food wasn't as good as the first time. I had the garlic shrimp and the bruschetta. I don't like the butter or whatever they put on the bottom on the bread to keep it in place. There were some wine vendors, maybe....not sure but they were tasting wine and had a bit of food. I was not the their first priority. The purveyors sitting next to me were!!! I also asked for a half glass of wine and they said no, only full Glasses.
