This was our first time here and really enjoyed it. The waiter was attentive without being bothersome. I loved the saffron toast, although my husband didn't like it, but he enjoyed the tempura appetizer that he ordered. The sushi we had was good as was our entree (salmon). We enjoyed the atmosphere which compared to other places was intimate because it has limited seating. The only complaint we could have had was when we were first seated the sun was in my husband's eyes. However, before he could mention the issue they adjusted the blinds. Had a reservation for a group of eight. I've eaten at Saffron many times & have generally had a good experience. Not this night. I need to preface this by saying they were not that busy. Empty tables. First of all the waitress took WAY to long to get our drink order & once the order was taken it was about 15 minutes till drinks arrived. Food is ordered, people are constantly waiting for refills on water. Waitress has an attitude right from the start. Half of the people ordered sushi/rolls. Half of the table's food comes out (non-sushi). She says it will be "just a little bit for the sushi". The good side of this review is all the warm dishes were great. Everyone who has warm food is finished before the first of the sushi comes out. We're talking over an hour here. The manager comes out with a HUGE ATTITUDE saying every place that has sushi is like this. Um, no it's not. No apology, no discount on the food. If you're going to eat sushi in Cape (def not the best place in the world), head to Shogun. read more

Honestly, I don't know why anyone goes to Saffron. The food is below average and the prices are above average. To me, that's a no-go. I can handle crap food at crap prices or expensive food that is excellent. Service is also incredibly slow. This is your stereotypical restraunt that is catering for an upperclass clientele but can't follow through with an adequate product. Stay away unless you want average sushi (Sho-gun's is better) priced too high (Sho-gun's is cheaper). read more

Shame on the cook today who burnt the Ginger Chicken lunch special and plated it anyway. The waitress MUST have know because she served us and never came back to our table to ask us how our meal was or if we wanted our drinks refilled - we did. We had to flag her down to get the check. We showed her the burnt chicken and she got $3.00 taken of the bill. Not sure if we want to take another chance here...the lunch special was $12.00! read more

I have to start off by saying I am so thankful this place exists! I am new to the area. I moved here a few weeks ago (job related) from Chicago. Although I am no expert on Thai cuisine, I am a fan and frequented Thai restaurants in Chicago with my boyfriend and friends. I noticed the sign from the street and went in for dinner my first weekend in Cape. I ordered the Thai iced tea (with lime) and the Pad woo sen and had the fried bananas. Everything was great! I love the atmosphere and the food selection. I plan to go back to try their sushi. The menu had some neat food/drink selections that I also look forward to trying. The wait staff as great and the waitress who served me was polite and attentive. The priced were fair in my opinion, but I don't know the "market value" for pad thai in Cape Girardeau. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. It is a great place to have a nice low key dinner and conversation with friends or a signifcant other. read more

I ordered some Sushi to go here a few nights ago on my way home from work. Service was great and the sushi was pretty good as well. Everything was very fresh which I was a little worried about. I have been here twice now once for carry out and the other dine in. I have only had the sushi and I will admit I'm pretty picky but it was very good. My first time I came in and ordered food for carry out and they were very fast. Although, my last visit was not the same. I came with my family on a Saturday night and it wasn't too busy; we figured we'd be in and out. ...this was not the case. After being seated it took the waitress a good 10 minutes to come take our drink orders. At that point we were ready to order as well. After ordering, it took a good 30 minutes to get just our appetizers and our waitress only stopped by our table once during that time being that we called her over to get more drinks. 45 minutes after after our order was places, we finally got our food and it was fantastic. I'm not usually one to write reviews but this was a bit ridiculous. Over all, great food, poor service. read more

I had been looking forward to trying Saffron for quite some time but the experience left me wishing I had never gone to the restaurant. We were a group of 7 that had a reservation and placed our orders at the same time. The food took more than one hour from the time the first person was served to the final person was served. My husband and mother had completely finished their dinners when mine had yet to arrive. The waiter make no apology or explanation of the problem. We asked to speak to the manager and he put all the blame on the server. The manager did not take responsibility for the poor kitchen staffing or try to rectify the problem. We were not offered an appetizer or even an explanation as to why the wait was more than one hour between dishes being served. The food was good, but due to the poor quality of the service, terrible dining experience and high cost, I would not recommend this restaurant. read more
