I don't take five stars lightly. This restaurant fired on all cylinders during our last visit. We had appetizers for the table of burrata cheese, sweet and spicy calamari, and a Sushi Pizza. The burrata cheese was creamy, smooth and rich. The calamari was so unusual, with a drizzle of balsamic providing the sweet to compliment the spicy (but really not that spicy) sauce. The calamari was delicious and tender all by itself, perfectly breaded, seasoned and lightly fried. The sauce was applied with restraint so that you could actually enjoy it - a rarity with calamari these days! The sushi pizza - I don't even know where to begin there. A crunchy, rice cake serves as the crust, and it is topped with delicious, chopped tuna sashimi. An Asian drizzle completes the dish, and it was absolutely ridiculous. For an entree I had a perfectly cooked, medium rare filet mignon, cooked in a Gorgonzola crust. So good. Around the table we had a pasta with short ribs, and a chicken Milanese, generously topped with a fresh arugula salad. Desserts did not disappoint either. We had a home made peanut butter tartufo, and a chocolate bread pudding topped with a creamy vanilla ice cream that appeared to be home made as well. This wasn't my first trip to Bistro 73, and it won't be my last. Pricing is more than fair, and there is a large variety of options. It's also BYOB. As of right now, I believe this is the best restaurant in Bernardsville. read more

Ok I'm giving this 5 stars because it's one of the best restaurants in the Morristown area and the other 4-star ratings for nearby places led me horribly astray. I was in NJ for work for a few months and only found 2 restaurants that I could actually, in good faith, recommend to a friend. This is one of them! BYOB but if you forget they will give you a little 10% off card to go grab wine from a store a couple blocks away. Pop open your bottle and sit on the adorable little patio area and let the dining experience begin. Get the rigatoni!! It's amazing. And if you don't want it for your meal they do appetizer portions. To follow, I always get whatever fish is the special and I've never been disappointed. They end every meal with complimentary cookies and a shot of limoncello (they taste more like plain lemonade, but still appreciated). My team and I would seriously eat here once a week. This is a nice, intimate, restaurant. My husband ordered calamari and their bolognese while I ordered the warm goat cheese and caramelized onion tart with chopped salad. We were given a bowl of fresh bread and butter to start. Our food took a long time to arrive, but it was busy so I understand. Presentation of the dishes was sweet and I enjoyed my tart though it was very onion-y! For dessert we ordered their Tira Misu... vanilla, mascarpone, cocoa, and lavazza savoiardi.... Freaking delectable!!! And to end our dinner, we were given 2 small chocolate chip cookies with a small shot of lemon cello. My husband ate most of my cookie though! When I arrived, I called to tell them that I was out front and they came and put it in my backseat. Since I had paid in advance there was no contact. The food was still hot by the time I got it home. Bistro 73 is hands down our go-to restaurant. You can order something different every time you go and you will not ever be disappointed. The staff is so friendly and attentive- go 2 or 3 times and you will be family. The restaurant is BYOB, which is amazing! Beer, wine, champagne, whatever you want to drink they will open, serve, and put on ice if needed- no corking fee. We have never been disappointed with a single meal here, and we go at least 1-2 times a month. The ambience is romantic and relaxed. It is not quiet, but the noise level is moderate and you don't need to raise your voice to have a conversation. My fiancé and I even had our engagement party here! If you're looking for a space for a private event, look no further- they are incredibly flexible and accommodating. Spectacular food, wonderful service. Highly recommend. From the second I walked in I was attacked by fruit flies and had the waitress joke that they had apples out to attract them. It was not one fly but an infestation that should have the restaurant closed until further notice. My entire meal was ruined by my friends and I swatting at flies the entire time while the owner could care less and was beyond rude to my mother. The flies were around my booth, my wine, and food. This restaurant is close to where I live, so I had to try it. Ever since the first time I went I couldn't stop going. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly and the taste was exquisite. The service is wonderful, and they even take the time to memorize the specials so they can say them rather than read them. To be honest, what makes bistro seven three so memorable is the desert. I highly recommend the flourless chocolate cake. It is the best texture I've ever experienced in a cake in my entire life. The chocolate flavor just makes it even better, being as chocolate is my guilty pleasure. Not only the desert was great here, but everything else. This is a fun place that is not too pricey and has delicious, fresh food. It's a nice date spot with a great ambiance. The service is done in a unique way, you don't really have one set waiter. When we sat down a person came up to us and didn't introduce himself, he just said hi and started talking about the menu. We weren't upset though because all night different people kept coming by and asking us how we were doing and if we needed anything else. It's one of the better restaurants in Bernardsville if you're looking for a place that is normal priced, BYOB, and has a modern look with a fun Saturday night ambiance. The menu has a little bit of everything. I got a Tuna and my fiancé got a pasta and both were very satisfying dishes. We had our rehearsal lunch here...a year and a half ago, so this is a long overdue review of how GREAT this place is. Though we couldn't get a private experience (we didn't have enough people anyway), they gave us the larger "room" to ourselves and it was perfect. My husband and I were really struggling to find a good restaurant in the area. We HAD to since we were getting married at Olde Mill Inn nearby. Fortunately we gave Bistro Seven Three a chance, after a dinner at another local restaurant, might I add. Suffice to say, the first couple of places we ate at did not impress when it came to their food or service. The location/parking isn't ideal but for the delicious food and friendly service, I would gladly recommend this to anyone. I still remember that day. Vinny gave us menu options, talked us through pricing (even generously offering us just a few bucks upcharge for each plate of their braised short ribs instead of charging us per head, regardless of what our guests ordered), and really made us feel welcomed (and happily stuffed!) We did the BYOB and everyone had a great, intimate time. The bill also came out to less than half of what we were about to spend for our rehearsal lunch elsewhere (that conveniently fell through). I'd happily stop by again if we're in the area. read more

Came here last night with an out-of-town colleague who is staying at a nearby hotel. This place was recommended by the hotel concierge, so we decided to give it a try. I know nothing about Bernardsville (I've never even heard of it...sorry!) so I was thankful for a suggestion. Upon being seated, we were served two large rolls, along with crostini with hummus and olive oil. We started with the bufala mozzarella over tomato, along with the French onion soup. The soup was a very nice blend of bread, cheese, and onions. The mozzarella was creamy and fresh; I could have eaten that alone all night long. For our entrees, I ordered the shrimp and crabmeat ravioli (the special) and my colleague ordered the trout (the other special of the night). Her trout was seasoned and cooked perfectly. I wasn't expecting the ravioli to have a pesto sauce, but it actually worked well with the dish. The raviolis were definitely homemade and fresh, fresh, fresh...huge lumps of crabmeat and shrimp. I've been to places where the shrimp/crabmeat/lobster, etc., raviolis are just a ton of ricotta along with a smidgen of seafood. That was definitely not the case here! After a short while, the manager came around and offered us both a complimentary glass of wine (very nice touch!). For dessert, we ordered the Tarte Tatin (warm apple tart) and the Nutella (banana) Crepes. The tart was so good, but the crepes were bland and rubbery. I was so disappointed! It tasted like they were made hours ago. That was the only dissatisfaction all night. Our cappuccinos came out piping hot with a side of Sambuca (one of my faves). I have to compliment the waitstaff and the manager, as everyone was accommodating and very friendly. I loved the décor...lots of black and red. The restaurant was pretty busy for a Tuesday night. We left very satisfied and we didn't break the (Corporate) bank. If this place weren't an hour from where I live, I probably would come back again and again to try new dishes. Bistro Seven Three provided us with a wonderful Easter dinner yesterday evening and a fabulous experience all around. My boyfriend and I both ordered their specials for the evening - he had the ribeye with a peppercorn sauce, and I had the lamb ossobuco. The most amazing part of my dish was the truffle cream risotto that was served with the lamb. I kid you not, I could eat that risotto every day! We are regulars here. The food and staff, as always, were fabulous. But other than the waitstaff wearing masks, you would never know there was a pandemic going on! We went early hoping there would not be many people...but by 6:15pm on a Wednesday night there were only two empty tables. The diner behind me was about three feet away from me. We were very disappointed and very uncomfortable. We rushed through our dinner and did not order dessert. We will not be back until the Covid restrictions are lifted. Despite some strange music we loved Bistro seven three for lunch. It's a great value midday, most sandwiches are just $10 and come with either fries or salad. Casual during the day, no white tablecloths etc. Service was pretty good too, our food came out fairly quickly and our server was friendly. Bread arrives with huge slabs of sweet butter, includes multi-grain, white and dinner rolls. Started with classic onion soup which was properly baked shut with melted cheese but the broth was pretty ordinary, a tad spendy at $7. I ordered the sausage & peppers panini which was outstanding and cheap at $10, sausages were split lengthwise, red and yellow peppers in a red sauce, all on nicely crispy roll; only tiny complaint was that there was no spice to the sauce. We all ordered french fries and they were utterly perfect crispy hot sticks of potato love, like Belgian fries with that crackly crust on them, came with a ramekin of ketchup. Just make sure you get something with the chipotle sauce on it or ask for that instead of ketchup with your fries, it's that good! I was surprised to see how few people were in for lunch, just a few tables and this isn't a small place. Food was so yummy it made us think about coming for dinner. It was a beautiful day for sitting outside and we started with tuna tartar which was on the money delicious and tender. For our meals we ordered farfale pasta broccoli rabe and chorizo special, the ossobucco risotto special, and the penne meat sauce. All 3 dishes were great and the ossobucco being the favorite dish among us. For dessert we ordered the pistachio tartufo, chocolate churros and the lava cake. The favorite was the tartufo.
