We had reservations for a group of 11 for lunch to celebrate my niece's First Communion, and our table was ready when we arrived. The strongest parts of the meal were the cocktails and appetizers. I had the Crooked Smile with Don Julio reposado, blood orange, dry curaçao, lime, and ginger, and it was really good. We also tried the Goat Cheese Croquettes, Chicken Liver Mousse Toast, Black Pepper Calamari, and Spicy Maple Glazed Ribs. The apps were tasty and easily the best part of the meal. The entrees were more inconsistent. The Caesar salad was skimpy and oddly put together. I had to ask for more dressing, the chicken was sliced large and parked in one spot, and was bland af. I had to steal sauce from some of the apps to make it edible. My husband's Steakhouse Burger was cooked perfectly and juicy, but it was basically just a patty with cheese and no other toppings, and the cheese itself was pretty bland. Service was pleasant but not polished. We weren't asked about another round of drinks, water took a while, and simple menu questions got uncertain answers. Ok let's just state the obvious the place is beautiful indoor and outdoor.. so we decided to sit outdoor at the bar for happy hour. They had drink specials for happy hour, but no food specials for happy hour. I didn't like that so now we decided to just sit outside and eat at a table. They had live music that was nice. OK now let's start with the food I got the steak and it came with a casserole potato something like that but no vegetable for $65 you can give me a vegetable also we got the prime rib that came with asparagus and mashed potatoes. My reservation was for a party of four around 6 pm on a weeknight. It was a beautiful evening, so we decided to sit outside near the fire pit. The restaurant is beautiful, including their patio area. It has a lodge feel, very spacious with separate areas for private events. Overall, it is well designed. We ordered the raw oysters (east & west coast) for the table. This was my first time giving into the pressure of trying a raw oyster. Now grilled oysters from New Orleans are right up my alley; however, I can say the east coast raw oysters were surprisingly good. I'll stay away from the west coast raw oysters for.. ever. I ordered the deviled eggs which were decent. It was dressed with smoked salmon, and smoked trout caviar, presented alongside Affilla cress. Additionally, we tried the Mexican corn pizza which was topped with corn, shishitos, scallions, cilantro, mozzarella, and lemon juice. Very good! Sort of sweet with a little crunch. For dessert, I had the brioche bread pudding with vanilla ice cream which was a great choice. First off, the ambiance here is immaculate. I was invited to dine out by my boo thing and we had an amazing culinary experience. Can't give the food enough praise! The filet topped with Foie Gras was delectable, and what made it stand out was the quince Jam. Never would've thought, but it was a match made in Heaven. It somehow elevated the dish to a whole new level and I wasn't a fan of Foie Gras before. I was apprehensive to order this dish for a number of reasons but so glad I did. We're keeping Stone House at the back of our minds for our next special night out. Celebrated a birthday, and the overall experience was amazing! Though our hostess that night seemed a little newer and nervous, all the staff was attentive. We devoured every dish, with the clear standout being the chef's special pork shank. The vegetables were in season and sweet, and the portion satisfying. But we were wowed by the spinach and lemon zest sauce! While we were initially intrigued by Fisherman's Stew on the menu, it did lean a bit too salty for our taste. But, the miso salmon is nothing to underestimate. It was balanced, perfectly rendered and charred, on a bed of the most delicious, buttery wild rice and fresh, sweet asparagus that still had a snap to them. Our only qualm was that the table bread was cold and flan dessert too sweet. But that was easily overlooked by the lodge-inspired interior and the most stunning patio seating outside! Christmas Eve dinner and service was great. Their AI reservation line - they need to get rid of it. Horrible. I tried to expand reservation from 2 to 4 people and the answer was just no. Not able to negotiate sitting at a smaller table/bigger table/different time etc. The 'conversation' was a dead end. Literally - I'll never work with that again. So they lost out on 2 other meals price fix $85 AND I'll never make a reservation there again. If you can't hire humans to do a public relations job - reservations are the first impressions - then you don't need the humans using your business. There is zero ability to speak with a human at the restaurant when trying to plan. Bye bye. read more

Bored with the usual suspects sometimes you just have to throw a dart to find a new venue for superior dining -- Stone House in Warren NJ is such a place. Looking more like an Alpine aerie favored by the von Trapps and lederhosen crowd, this rustic charmer delivered an inspired American menu with service to spare. I'm not going to bore you with a dull recitation of this dish versus that dish as the menu changes frequently but it's a revelation that all great venues in the Garden State don't have to be attached at the hip to a strip mall or some Turnpike adjacent suburban sprawl. This review is for the restaurant not the wedding venue. The entire venue sits on 10 acres of land and it is beautiful. I came in the fall so it was too cold to sit outside on the patio. The restaurant had plenty of seating and I was able to get a reservation for 5 the day of on a Friday night. I wasn't super impressed with the food or the drinks. I tried the spicy margharita cocktail and there wasn't much alcohol in it although it did taste good. I recommend the calamari appetizer. read more

My boyfriend booked a private room and a special dinner for us . This place is stunning from the outside all the way in , the hostess were very pleasant and helpful . Our private table was adorable and they even created menus with our names on it which made such a sweet touch . The food was excellent , we had the duck with assorted vegetables and a side of mashed potatoes . The Duck was absolutely SPECTACULAR and cooked to perfection . We also had a bread pudding with banana foster for dessert and that was very good . My best complement was to our server Eli , he was extremely professional , attentive and pleasant . Six of us had brunch yesterday for my father-in-law's 91st birthday. The restaurant seemed to be aware of the occasion because it said happy birthday on each menu. The decor and setting are lovely. The menu is very interesting, fairly large for brunch and the food was delicious. Unfortunately, I only found one item that was both gluten and dairy free, which was fried calamari.(rice flour). Our waiter was a bit odd, and not at all attentive after the food was served He had to be flagged down for drink refills. When the food was served, the food runners had no idea of who was getting what item, and did not seem to care very much. All but one person's food came together. The last, a soup, was a good 5 minutes behind. Although we did not think to order a dessert for the birthday, the restaurant made no mention of it either. Better trained and supervised staff would have made this a five star restaurant read more

Cleaned my plate! What a great dining experience. We made a reservation on the same day - we had a gift card we wanted to use. Ambiance is very cozy: lots of soft lighting and candles. There was a live piano player, which felt classy. Everything felt very clean. We were sat by the open kitchen (which I didn't mind, I find it interesting and I like all of the smells) and the kitchen looked very clean and organized. My entree was the Fisherman's Stew, which was soooo delicious. The perfect meal honestly. It had delicious fish, mussels, baby clams, little lobster pieces, and some veggies and small pasta pieces. The both was super savory, garlic-y, and umami. I felt full and satisfied without feeling stuffed. Absolute perfection. The crostini under the fish still had some crispness, but absorbed some of the stew. My husband enjoyed his steak. Our waitress asked him to cut it in half and it was not cooked to how he wanted it, so she took it back and the chef brought it out within a few minutes. I appreciate that she did that. We finished off with coffees/espressos which were great. My only complaint is that their starter bread includes 2 types of bread, and one of them has walnuts in it. This is not nut-friendly and is disappointing. I know you can't please everyone, but I just feel the walnuts really don't need to be there. Perhaps have a bread service option on the menu where you can have a variety of breads brought to the table upon ordering. Anyway, everything was delicious and we will still return. read more

I've been here twice now- once for a birthday party that we had for my mother in a private room and the views were amazing from the upstairs balcony! I booked this place for her birthday again this year and this time we got to try their full menu vs the fixed menu we experienced for the birthday. Their food is consistent and well executed. I had the veal, my mom had the halibut and brother had the salmon. We also tried the deviled crudo eggs and it was amazing! East coast oysters were a little salty for our liking. Overall the food was great and the drinks were good. Service was good and our server tried to help accommodate any questions that we had. We mentioned it was my mom's birthday and there wasn't any acknowledgment outside of the hostess regarding the birthday. Most places will offer a dessert or bring one out to close out the dinner. Ambience is the best part about the place I think. Food was mediocre. I had a $60 prime rib that lacked flavor, was over done, and they didn't even have real horseradish to pair with it. I attended a wedding here last week. The location is beautiful with flower gardens and a water feature for pictures. The cocktail hour was is a nicely situated room with 2 levels and 2 bars which made it feel spacious. The lower level of the room was slanted, not sure if there are foundation issues with the building. The food was a mixed bag, always have to be thoughtful when reviewing wedding halls because many times the hosts are to blame as the menu is chosen with their own tastes in mind. Highlights of the cocktail hour: Fried calamari was served with a spicy marinara, excellent. The paella while beautiful was cold, room temperature at best, disappointing. The carving station has a full roasted salmon which was dynamite while the roast beef was flavorless. Cheeses, crudite were the standard. The pasta station looked great although I did not partake. The Caesar salad with dinner was awful. The filet mignon was flavorless. The au gratin potatoes that was served with the filet was burned. The halibut was awful, frozen and was not fresh. The risotto that was served with it was fantastic. I had a problem with the service, the wait staff was cold at best. The wait staff were unwilling to get drinks from the bar for the table...mind you we offered $100 to our waitress but she said" we don't do that" That is the first time in the 100 weddings I have been to a member of the wait staff was not anxious to make a few extra dollars and serve the table cocktails.... All in all I would not recommend this location for a wedding reception. The room was a barn style room, the decorations which was handled by the Bride and Groom were Gorgeous. read more

Went here for a work event twice already and we're in townhouse 2 with its incredible balcony. This place never disappoints! The staff is incredibly nice and accommodating. The wine and alcohol they serve is always high quality! The food is phenomenal! Our party has hor'duevers that included steak on bread, fried potato stick things, coquette rice balls and pigs in a blanket and all were delicious. The entrees served that were all shared were their Mac and cheese which is to die for! Literally the creamiest Mac and cheese out there. Their variety of pizzas which are thing crust, crispy and delicious. There was also a collection of shrimp and other seafood as well as veggies which were delicious as well. For dessert they served their famous and incredible bread pudding and a brownie thing that was also amazing. Would definitely recommend this place for dinner, events, weddings you name it. For the cost and atmosphere, please cut a fresh potato. My steak was overcooked. The drinks were the best drinks I've ever had in my life and the bread pudding and calamari were AWESOME! I've reviewed this place before so this is my second, updated review for 2022. The same: place is classy, food is incredible, wine list that makes you honk you've died and gone to heaven! What's new (in this review): Met the chef and manager and was impressed by HOW MUCH detail goes into procuring ingredients and wine selection and artfully crafting the menus... which do update seasonally/periodically. They invest in keeping up/ahead of demands which is why they always stay so good. We had avocado toast, bacon, gazpacho, burrito, calamari, pork shank, the Amish chicken and enjoyed an amazing bottle of Bordeaux. The bacon legit looked like no other bacon I've ever seen. It's like these guys have their own farm out back. Found out it's because they use a very particular vendor for their pork, so their pork literally IS fresh from the farm to your table! After lunch, we went to their gorgeous outside lounge. Beautiful fireplaces, big bar, a "play" area (some ball/bowling-y type of game) and cabanas! Gorgeous photo opps and perfect to hang with friends. There's also like a backyard garden with a fountain and giant chess board. This place is seriously so beautiful and a great time and the staff were 5-star! I loved our server, bread lady, and everyone who served/helped/greeted us. An amazing venue, just from the pages of travel magazine with wooden interiors, huge ceiling and chandeliers. The place draws you in with an old world vibe, extremely friendly wait staff. We were there to celebrate our anniversary and so were greeted with glasses of champagne. Huge portion size, an upscale dining experience right at the heart of central Jersey. However it fell short in the flavors of the food, we ordered calamari, deviled eggs and mussels. It came out fine but nothing extraordinary that you wouldn't get at a regular restaurant. We then ordered the halibut, Mac and cheese, ceviche, charcuterie board as well as duck confit . The complimentary bread was passable. The halibut was huge but again lacking flavor. Overall the mussels as well as the ceviche were the only ones that passed the taste test. The desserts were good, the tiramisu as well as bread pudding was really good, the non alcoholic drink served called Pom mule was quite unique. The tab came out to 250$ for foot of us, and it was definitely an unique experience, I just hoped that the food would have been more flavorful and presented a bit more prettier for a fine dining experience. They have several different event spaces for weddings and parties. We came here for a YPO end of year celebration. During the cocktail hour they passed pigs in a blanket, mini lobster rolls, and arancini. For dinner we had a choice of short ribs or halibut. Both were excellent, loved the risotto that was served with the halibut The chocolate torte for dessert was rich and yummy. read more

Absolutely a delight for Fall weddings, if you go with the rustic lodge - you will get good foliage plus outdoor photos. Grand ballroom option is great for bigger event but comes with covered ceremony area and large patio area. I took my mom to Stone House last night for dinner to celebrate her birthday, and it was a magical experience! The restaurant smelled like a mixture of yummy food and holiday/winter scents, which certainly set the mood. The tasteful holiday decor was stunning and had me in the seasonal spirit! My mom's menu was personalized with birthday wishes, which was a really nice touch! Our server, Marcelo, was excellent and very knowledgeable. We started our meal with cocktails; I had the spiced pear sangria, and she had the red sangria. Both were delicious! The bread basket comprised of two bread types was wonderful, but the cranberry/raisin/walnut bread was an absolute standout! For an appetizer, I ordered the ceviche, which was super fresh and had generous portions of fish. My mom had the pumpkin soup, which was delightful. For entrees, we had the scallops and salmon. Both were A+, perfectly cooked, seasoned beautifully, and were accompanied by crisp vegetables. The apple and cranberry crostada was the perfect ending to the meal. I didn't realize it right away but my husband noticed that on top said happy 25th wedding anniversary. Also, the worst soggy truffle fries. It was my birthday dinner. My husband requested a quiet table for two. They seated us by the kitchen where the chefs were frantically cooking. There was clanging pots and pans and so noisy. We requested another table. This time they sat us by the entrance where the door was open the entire time. It was so cold and our table was dirty. There's no vibe there at all. Our waitress was missing in action most of the time. The only good thing was the sorbet especially the coconut sorbet. All in all, unfortunately it was a lousy birthday dinner. There were 6 of us, and parties 6 or more, are an automatic 20%... We paid the bill, without realizing that was the policy, and tipped our server another 20%.
