LOVE LOVE LOVE Bitchin' Sauce! First discovered at a vendor event in Santa Monica years ago and immediately knew I had to have it. Was spoiled by being able to buy it at Whole Foods locations and got to try several flavors. Moved to Seattle, WA and am so happy to see that it can be found at several locations here too, including Safeway and Whole Foods. The base of the sauce is almonds and nutritional yeast that is then mixed with various spices. My favorite flavors so far have been the original (lemon & garlic flavor), cilantro, and the chipotle but I recently realized that even more flavors have been created. So excited to try Pesto, Bombay, Buffalo, Green Onion, Roasted Green Chile & Pepita, and Spinach Artichoke! I love pairing the sauces with fresh vegetables for a tasty and healthy treat but it's also perfect to top chicken or pasta or potatoes. I love chips and dip so when I was at Costco and they were giving out samples, I tried it and at first I thought it was humus. I noticed they had four different ones, so I went and tried the others. They were so good and it seems they are healthy too since it is made from almonds. I tried the original, cilantro chili, Bombay, and spicy. My first encounter of these delicious sauces (note: the texture is more of a dip than a sauce, similar to the texture of hummus) was at Little Italy Farmer's Market. They had tortilla chips laid out to sample all of their sauces such as Chipotle, Cilantro Chili, Pesto, Bombay, Heat, Original, and Buffalo. Each one is so good! Scored a sample of this "sauce" slash dip at Costco. I was hooked, it's delicious and great if you're on a low carb diet. I've dipped veggies in it, I've made chicken and warmed it up on top. I've added a little olive oil and used as a marinade. Great almond-based hummus. I love the spicy flavors!!! It's a lot smoother than traditional hummus and more flavorful. You can usually find them at the Sunset Market in Oceanside on Thursdays and at the Farmer's market in Escondido on Tuesdays. The only downside to this great tasting hummus is the service. I LOVE Bitchin' Sauce ... had it for the first time maybe 5 years ago and have never looked back. So happy BS has a presence at the Poway Farmers Market. It's $5 for the first tub but I think $4 each after that. They are super cool about letting you taste even when you don't buy. The chips they sell are pretty good, too. I love all of the flavors, though the Bombay might be my favorite. I'm glad that Costco carries the large tub of Chipotle all the time but I would prefer the road show deal where you can buy 3 smaller tubs (assorted) for $9-something. Bitchin sauce is definitely not what it used to be. From humble beginnings to a mass produced disaster. I haven't bought this since they stopped selling at my farmer's market around 2016/2017. I saw it in Target and was so happy, until I actually used it. It was runny and the taste was different. I thought I got a bad or expired batch. But I just bought a tub at Costco 2 weeks ago... Information....fairly short shelf life....no preservatives means that you have to eat it within about a month. I didn't read the expiration date and it fermented....interesting, but not AS tasty. Went to the Hillcrest farmers' market on Sunday and was curious why a particular market stand had so much people crowding around. My curiosity led me to this awesome almond sauce. I initially thought it was hummus because it had the similar taste and texture but I was later informed that it was actually grounded almonds. They offer it in 3 flavors: Regular, Chipotle, and Pesto. I was pleasantly surprised with their Chipotle flavor. I did not get a chance to try their Peso flavor because they sold out. Maybe that's better than the Chipotle one! Can't wait to try the Pesto one next time I go to a farmers' market which is anytime soon! I ended up buying two Chipotle from them!
