Sort of an industrial park setting, so not quite the same atmosphere as their truck at Portland Head Light, but the ample parking, friendly counter service, tables, bathrooms, outdoor seating, and clean space throughout more than make up for it. I visited twice about a month apart. Lobster Roll Trio: A nice sampler with three different styles of your choosing. Only a few bites each, so you don't fill up. I enjoyed it, choosing Maine (cold/mayo) , Connecticut (warm/butter), and a curry version (spicy but manageable). Cool thing about the hot butter: it's added on right in front of you from a container the Tin Man wished he had. Good theater and good lobster. Maine Lobster Roll (4.5-ounce): I liked this better, since it's the quintessential Maine style, has a much more generous serving than the trio, and won't fill you up (though they have a larger size if you want to fill up). There's a little more mayo there than on Red's Eats' lobster roll, but still light enough to let the lobster shine. Plump, fresh, good snap, good overall texture and bite. Proper New England roll with split top and flat sides, properly buttered (read: just enough and not overdone, much like the mayo). Very enjoyable. Burger: Who knew? A 6-ounce brisket burger on a nice little brioche bun, modestly dressed and with condiments you choose. Good crispness, tender interior, good flavor, bright vegetables, nicely buttered/griddled bun. This isn't a destination burger the way the lobster roll is a destination lobster roll, but solid. Coleslaw: Crisp, creamy, more mayo than needed, no discernible flavor beyond the mayo. Potato Chips: All items include a generous portion of crisp, extra-thick, high-salt potato chips of high quality. Water: Large dispenser near the door provides free water, making the lobster roll an even better deal. Service: Very cordial and very professional. Terrible! Maybe it was this particular location near 2 good breweries but holy crap was it bad. We stayed a week in Maine with 2 days in Portland, arrival and departure were full days. Our first order of business was a lobster roll and we went toward the canal area and got a GREAT roll! So freaking tasty! Then had whole lobsters mid week which was so yummy. I wanted one more lobster roll before we left so we came to bite into Maine. First off I bit down into a piece of shell - okay, its a crustaceans so someone can accidentally get a shell in there. Threw it away and kept eating. Then hit another shell. WTH?! Come on , someone is going to choke if you allow this to happen. The flavor just WAS NOT THERE! So sad this was my last lobster experience in Maine. My aunt owns a camp in Maine and its easier to fly in to another airport but we wanted to check out Portland. While my favorite BIM location is still out at Allagash Brewing (I just love the secluded feel of it), what I also love is that Bite Into Maine now has this location on Diamond Street in town, which is super close to me! Yay! I've stopped in a few times now and am happy to see it perking up for summer, with outside seating and more people around (in colder weather it's a bit bleak over in that area, and a bit like a cafeteria inside). They have the same fantastic lobster rolls you can get at the other locations--my faves are the Maine and the Picnic, but I've also tried the Wasabi which is also tasty (and the lobster isn't overpowered). Today I wasn't hungry enough to take on an entire lobster roll so I ventured over to the non-lobster part of the menu: keep in mind that you can also get a burger here, or a grilled cheese or caprese or BBQ sandwich--and what I tried for the first time today, a red hot or Maine "snappah"! It was tasty and yep, snappy, and it hit the spot. We had just been on a long road trip from CT and wanted to try this once we got into Portland and also hit the Orange Bike Brewery and turned out they were in the same plaza! This is the Diamond Street location. I got the lobster flight of CT Lobster, Chipotle Mayo and the Curry and all were delicious. Note, each roll is very small so eating three is equal to about one regular roll. This was my favorite lobster I got in Portland. Very fresh. I have to say though my favorite was the CT Lobster. Can't beat a hot lobster roll. There are two other food truck locations. One at Allagash Brewing and one at Fort Williams Park but if you want to have a nice sit down and not eat from a food truck go to the Diamond St. location. You can order at the counter at the brewery. Side note, I got the gluten free roll and normally gluten free bread is terrible. This was the best gluten free bread I have ever had. It was like eating a grilled cheese. They also asked me if I wanted extra hot butter poured onto my CT lobster roll and I said yes please! So good. We stopped in to Bite into Maine after enjoying ciders next door. We were quickly greeted upon entering and were able to place our order at the register. What's great about this place is you can pick the style you want your lobster roll if you aren't a fan of the cold and mayo filled Maine style lobster rolls. So after trying numerous other places for Lobster rolls, we finally made our way here and this was a great send off back home because I won't lie, I was a little disappointed in what Maine was cranking out. Unlike other places were there is either NO parking or you have to pay to park, this place is not on the tourist strip and you will be glad that you stumbled across it. We walked in and was greeted and I can admit that I usually have LOTS of questions about a menu, especially when it comes to prices. The guy helping us gave suggestions and even let us in on a secret menu item (ask about the maniac) however after much deliberation we went with the lobster bisque, the lobster flight and a whoopie pie. The bisque had nice chunks of lobster in it however the lobster rolls weren't packed with lettuce and other nonsense besides LOBSTER! The flight came with some chips that were nice and crunchy (I was actually putting pieces of lobster that fell out the roll onto the chips and eating it that way). I forgot to mention that when our food was brought to the table, he brought along some hot butter which he asked us if we wanted drizzled on the rolls (does anyone ever say no?!). I also asked for my lobster to be warmed and they were quick to accommodate. Seriously, this made up for all the crappy lobster rolls I've had while visiting. Hands down the BEST lobster rolls I have ever eaten. As a seafood lover, you'd think Maine would be my proverbial pot of gold, given that there are more lobster rolls per square mile here than there are hot dog stands in Chicago. However, that hasn't been my experience; if anything, I've found many places 'famous' for their lobster rolls to be quite average. The lobster at other restaurants has been rubbery, the rolls too small and flavorless, and overall underwhelming. That was NOT the case at Bite Into Maine. I tried both the Maine (chives and mayo) and Picnic (celery salt, cole slaw, and a huge, delicious pour of liquid butter) rolls and all I can say is WOW. Beyond flavorful, perfect portions (you can pick between 4.5oz and 6oz). The 4.5oz was perfect for me. They have a variety of fun lobster rolls, including the Wasabi, Chipotle, and Curry, all of which have flavored mayos that you'd expect based on the name. They serve sandwiches and sodas as well. Service was incredibly friendly, and the space at this location is really bright and modern. They had a local female artist paint a fun Maine-y mural on the walls that gives it more character. Bite into Maine: you have a new regular customer on your hands. I'll be back to try the Lobster BLT! read more

This was my first time trying genuine Maine lobster, and I truly enjoyed it! The freshness of the lobster is beyond belief! There's a few options here to enjoy your lobsters. You can order individual lobster rolls in 4.5 or 6 inch sizes to be accompanied by potato chips. You can also order a flight of mini rolls of different flavor varieties. I tried the flight of mini rolls. I shared it with my sister. If you've got a hearty appetite, I don't recommend sharing the flight of mini rolls. It should do just fine for one person with a hearty appetite. Two people with normal appetites can share, though. I tried three different rolls: their Maine lobster roll, a chipotle roll and a curry roll. All three were delicious and delivered on the distinct flavors that were listed. My favorite, however, was the traditional Maine lobster roll. I liked it served cold with chives and mayo. You really taste the freshness and flavor of the lobster itself, right as if it were freshly caught from the sea. Delicious!! Since you are ordering Maine lobster, though, do be prepared to spend a bit. I found their six inch lobster roll listed at $38, which is about average for this type of roll. So I'd say be prepared to spend at least $50 a person once you factor in drinks and such. I also tried their clam chowder, which was very delicious! I recommend pairing this item with a lobster roll, whether individual or flight. It's an excellent accompaniment. I'd try the flight of rolls just to get a broader experience of what they offer. Service is friendly and attentive, and the restaurant is quite clean. Parking is also easy, done either at the storefront or at a nearby free lot. This restaurant is fantastic.
