We are visiting from San Diego and staying at a hotel on Commercial St. We saw this place on Yelp for breakfast. It was well worth the short walk in the rain. When we entered, a gentleman, who it appeared might have been the owner, greeted us warmly and explained the menu. My husband ordered a wrap with bbq sauce and the "hots" relish. I ordered the simple with sausage. We were very pleasantly surprised that they were small but very satisfying. My husband described the wrap as flavorful with just enough spice and could really taste the relish. The flavor was delicious. The thai mayo was excellent. Today I stopped by Cuties for the first time being new to the Portland area and I ordered the Tuna melt. It was the best Tuna melt I have ever eaten. (They have an enhanced version which I will try next time.) Very good service, Nick, I am guessing the owner or manager, clearly cares. All the staff are greeting guests giving a local lunch and breakfast feel. I most definitely be back. I actually think the space is unique and kind of cool. So, if I were to walk in the door without reading reviews, I would turn around and leave. But once you're inside and greeted by the amazing staff, everything starts getting better. AND THEN you eat! My little one was obsessed with her little creation of ham, American and avocado. The rest of us enjoyed our wraps also. I can't believe I've been in Maine for a decade and never tried this place. It's so good! I ordered online and the food was ready promptly. The staff person preparing my order greeted me with a warm welcome when I entered and had my food ready quickly. The place is clean, cute, and in a great location if you want a bite while strolling the Old Port or want to grab food to go. I got the Florentine breakfast wrap and Cali club. Even though I didn't order it, they gave me some of their thai spicy mayo and I can totally understand why they are known for this--it was great paired with my breakfast! Wish I had my own jar. We were looking for a place to grab a quick breakfast on a Monday morning. Most places were closed on Mondays, not open yet, or temporarily closed due to Covid. I found Market Street Eats via Yelp and they had some pretty interesting-sounding wraps so we decided to give it a try. We got to the restaurant and there were instructions on the door to order online, call when you're there, and then someone will bring it out. I had the Lumberjack (2 over hard eggs, roast beef, red onion, Cabot cheddar, Thai mayo) and added tots to the wrap. The Thai mayo was really what drew me to this. It was unique, and the flavor turned out great. However, the roast beef was a bit thick and chewy, so I probably wouldn't order roast beef from here again. The wrap could have also used some more tots. Fiance had the Red Rooster (chicken breast, crispy bacon, melted provolone, red onion, Thai mayo), which I liked better than mine. Wraps range from $7 to $10 depending on which wrap and if you get any add-ons. It's a pretty great deal considered the wraps are huge. When we placed the order, the site said it would be about 15 minutes. We were already in the area so we called after about 10 minutes and it was ready already. They use beautiful, fresh pita/syrian bread and the finished product comes out with a little crunch. Heavenly. Great flavors, no greasy griddle to wick into the bread, zero sog factor. I have been obsessed with breakfast wraps and burritos lately so on a recent trip to Portland I sought out some of the local ones. The man behind the counter was very nice and helpful, even suggesting some of the most popular wraps. We both went with the Buddha wrap with tater tots inside. My husband added hot peppers and spinach to his. They both came with thai mayo on the side. My only complaint was that my wrap was a bit on the dry side. Heard about this place and decided to give it a try. I don't live or work in-town Portland so I made a special trip in to have their Moose hunters sandwich. It was an early Wednesday morning, just as they were opening, I decided to pick up a sandwich for lunch. Even though they were not officially open, the door was open and I was welcomed by two staff members. I looked over their menu, LOTS of options for every one. But I had my eye on the Moose Hunter, ham turkey, swiss and lots of great veggies in a toasted wrap. Since I was not eating right away the gentleman waiting on me suggested I microwave for 30 seconds to get the inside warmed up and then place in toaster oven for 10 minutes to brown and toast the outside. WOW! What a flavorful sandwich! The arugula and avocado were awesome touches. I will be back for sure to explore more of the menu options. read more

Driving home to MA the day after Christmas and hungry as we got down near Old Portland, we hit up Yelp to find a place that could accommodate both my partner and my needs. We walked in the cold past all the cute shops and restaurants, looking for this promised land of yumminess. We arrived fogged glasses and all and peered at the menus which we were told were merely suggestions and that anything could be shifted to accommodate diet/allergies/preference. I chose the curried chicken sammich, and my partner chose a goat cheese salad. Both were fresh and tasty. A bag of chips and a drink rounded out the meal. We got there just before closing time but never felt rushed or pressured. I was able to chat with one of the owners just before leaving and he was very sweet and informational. It's cafe style, so you order and pick up at the counter, and find seats. My partner and I picked the window seats and enjoyed watching people walking down the street as we sat and ate. Sgt. Slawter is the bomb. So good. I wish I lived close enough to frequent this place weekly. The sandwich looked like a sub it's in wrapper, and I was thrilled to see it was a wrap, wrapped in a Syrian flatbread and toasted hot in a convection oven (I'm guessing). Love the subtle, spicy kick that I would describe as medium. I was desperate for a a quick lunch, found this place on Yelp, and walked to it.
