I tried The Lobster Shack after vising the Portland Head Light. It's a little bit of a drive, but offered some beautiful views and a place to grab some lobster rolls. The views from the Lobster Shack are incredible. It's a great place to watch the waves crash with lots of outdoor tables. If you'd prefer you can also sit inside in their seating area and watch the view from one of the windows. They have standard lobster pound menu with seafood, lobster, lobster rolls, and even some non-sea food and vegetarian options. I tried their lobster roll and clam chowder. The food was solid, but it was definitely no frills. It was tasty, but not the most delicious lobster roll that I've ever had. As a heads up, the parking lot can get quite hectic here with limited spots, and the line can be quite long. Be ready to be patient, but overall the staff does a good job of trying to get your food out quickly and placing orders quickly. All in all, the food is decent, but the real star of the show is the unmatched views of the coast.

A family member from Maine said the shack was not to be missed for views and New England food. We already ate a lobster roll earlier in the day so opted for a Haddock place served with fries slaw and biscuit. We also order some onion rings. The onion rings were solid, thin rings in light batter. The slaw delicious , wanted to ask about a "secret" ingredient due to a fruity sweetness. The wife guessed pineapple juice which seemed about right. The fries were dipped in cocktail sauce which was novel and fun. The haddock just outstanding, fresh tender, light , flakey and not greasy at all. We sat inside the small eclectic marine decorated dining room to escape the late June heat and humidity. Half of the outside tables have umbrellas and was packed, the line out the door and moved fast. Friendly young cashier and a hardworking crew cranking out Cooked to perfection menu.

Great food, high prices. I enjoyed a lovely weekend with my mother in Maine and checked out Cape Elizabeth and checked out The Lobster Shack. For fried clams and a lobster roll(which runs surprisingly small!), it cost $70.38. A price that I feel is a bit high, especially with Maine Lobster running $8.99/lb at Hannaford. That said, the lobster was perfectly cooked, and instead of putting only claws in the roll, it had tender tail meat. It took about 15 minutes for my meal to be ready and before my number was called. Yes, I would go back again with visiting friends as the view and meal was good, it just left me stopping on my way out of Maine for another meal.

Such a cute little spot right by the ocean! The Lobster Shack is tiny inside with limited seating, but there's plenty of room outside to sit, relax, and take in the beautiful ocean view--which really adds to the experience. We ordered the lobster dinner and a lobster roll--both were fresh and tasty. I love the simplicity of this place--nothing fancy, just good food in a great setting. We'd definitely come back next time we're in the area!

Solid lobster rolls. Quick service. Beautiful view. It doesn't warrant 5 stars from me just because I felt like the rolls were a bit small, but they were very tasty and felt fresh.

More like 3.5 stars. Great location, got to enjoy the waterfront views. Busy spot too - condiment/soda area got very crowded. Small parking lot. Got a lobster roll and my non seafood eating partner got a hotdog which he enjoyed - was served in the lobster roll buns. This ended up being the only lobster roll I had in New England and it was pretty small, nice but small.

Nothing memorable about what we ordered - and maybe it was the wrong thing because this place came highly recommended. Unfortunately too far away from us to go back and try other items on menu. Definitely family friendly. Make sure you go on a nice day or you wrap up cause it's all or mostly outdoor dining. And for that - great atmosphere/view. Great for large parties.

Parking can be a challenge at the Loster Shack, but a little patience and kindness pays off. I have been coming here for close to 20 years and never previoulsy saw so many people with dogs taking up the outdoor picnic tables (cruel for the dogs, and annoying for those who have allergies or fear or just do not think it's appropriate for a non service animal to be hanging out at an eating establishment-even outside). This is very off putting and several dogs aggressively growled and barked at other dogs and passerbys. Changes the experience. The Lobster Shack is still my favorite place in all of Maine for lobster rolls and more, with stunning views of the ocean and waves, the rocky shore, cooling sea winds, and the Cape Elizabeth lighthouse in view (privately owned). The haddock boat and lobster roll were perfection, the onion rings and fries so delicious, the coleslaw so tasty, and the pies outstanding! Food is consistently fantastic! Just wish people did not bring their dogs!

Great place for tourists! Killer view and lots of outdoor seating, but very limited indoor seating. Decent seafood, plenty of parking. I've taken my mom here for Mother's Day and went with the hubby today. Next time I'll make the lobster rolls at home and have a picnic at Two Lights.

Classic New England seafood spot on the water. Do not expect a fancy meal, wait staff, or any frills, because this is the kind of spot where frills are not! Go up to the counter inside and be greeted by friendly staff members ready to take your order, including drinks if you'd like. You'll get a number and wait inside or outside to go grab your food when it's ready! Get your own condiments as you wish, and head to the spot of your choice to eat. We sat outside at a picnic table, ate our food, which was phenomenal and BEYOND tasty, and went on our way.

The Lobster Shack at Two Lights is an institution! It's one of the places I take folks to to enjoy a taste of Nee England. The food is consistently tasty, hot, and fresh. You cannot beat the view from the picnic tables out front, looking out on the ocean. Nothing like eating seafood while the waves crash. The staff is friendly and they're always working hard. It can be a little loud, with the speaker announcing order numbers, but that's minor. If you go on a weekend, be ready to wait, but weekdays are usually calmer. Enjoy! Don't sleep on their baked goods, either!

lobster roll, mayo on the side
    Emersen F.

The only reason to come back here would be for the view and the dessert, but otherwise, the food was mediocre at best. The lobster was gummy and the bread was extremely disappointing. I am glad I asked for the mayo on the side because they put a huge dollop of it on top and everyone agreed it was way too much. You only end up tasting mayo and bread. It doesn't seem like much effort was put into the rolls. A few simple improvements would be fixing the mayo to lobster ratio and at least toasting the bun on both sides with butter. On a positive note, one of the people in my party ordered the chicken tenders and enjoyed them! We also tried the pie which was DELICIOUS!! In conclusion, I would not return here for the lobster rolls as there are numerous better options in the area. Lobster rolls are EXPENSIVE, I want it to be worth what I am paying for!! I would return for the pie though. The pie was very tasty and the staff were friendly as well.

The views of this spot is what makes it 4 stars! The outside seating is large and you can also check out the side store they have of clothing and souvenirs. Service was pretty quick for the line that was forming. Staff was friendly and quick with service. They call your number on a loud speaker if you wait outside. I got the lobster roll set, which included a lobster roll, fries, and coleslaw. Also, got a side of clam chowder, which I thought was better than the lobster roll itself. The lobster was indeed fresh, but the roll and fries were honestly skimpy. Maybe because we went off season? But for the price and the hype, I was underwhelmed.

They were crisp with a slight char topped with shaved fennel and dill. The two sauces that accompanied them were delicious. The cashew creme was my fav. The entree I chose was the rack of lamb. Black garlic risotto, carrots and roasted peppers were the sides. The jus was rich and had a deep flavor. Very good choice. Dessert was a choice of carrot cake, vegan chocolate mousse or a berry tart. I took the carrot cake home and had it later. It was probably the best carrot cake Ive ever had! We also had wine with our meal. Overall a solid mothers day brunch. The price was $84 per person not including any drinks.

My friends and I wanted lobster rolls for our last meal in Portland and Docks did not disappoint! The service was a bit slow. Our server told us the bar was backed up so it took awhile to get drinks. The staff was constantly moving but it took a little while to get our appetizers and meals. The oyster appetizer was delicious! Nice and fresh. A vinaigrette-type sauce came with the dish but it could have really used some hot sauce. We liked that the oysters were separated from the shell. It made it easier to slurp the oysters. The homerun for us was the lobster roll. SO DELICIOUS! We all ordered it with butter. Two of us got it with coleslaw and two of us got it with homemade potato chips. Both were delicious but I was partial to the chips. The roll was lightly toasted and full of lobster. It was the perfect size and so enjoyable. One of our friends loved it so much that he ordered one to-go to eat later in the evening. :) Docks is only open until 8pm and the parking lot was constantly full. I'd been to the Inn before for happy hour and brunch so I was familiar with the main building and the fabulous view--so for this weekend I booked a Coveside Suite, which is a *huge* 2-bedroom setup with a living room and kitchen, balcony overlooking the snowy lawn and oceanfront, and a gigantic bathroom with both a shower and soaking tub. One bedroom has a king bed and the other two queens, which is perfect for a group of friends (it's not easy to find an arrangement like this). It's all very nicely designed (upscale beachy without being pretentious), and with freezing temperatures and a snowstorm on the way, the fireplace in the living room was the best. Pure hygge! I also recommend taking advantage of the spa, which we did on Saturday, both enjoying wonderful massages (hot rocks nearly had me drooling I was so relaxed). And even if it's cold, you can still tromp around the snow-covered lawn and down to the beach, or bundle up and have a cocktail outside on the deck by a fire pit, which a friend and I braved for awhile because we're weirdos. Large resorts like this can sometimes have food that feels institutional, but that's not the case here at the Sea Glass restaurant, which reliably turns out a nice range of tasty dishes inspired by Maine seafood and produce. I appreciate that there's some overlap between the breakfast/brunch and all-day menus; you can reserve in the restaurant (as we did for Saturday night), eat at the bar (it was hopping on Friday evening, since it's also a destination for locals), or order room service (bless the staff who came out in the cold for us for breakfast!). Everything I had was delicious, with the highlights being a roasted sunchoke appetizer and a hangar steak special with melty Parmesan fries. And I so appreciate the staff, all of whom were friendly and helpful! Service and communication were really top-notch overall, while also being super low-key and relaxed--you never feel the effort behind everything they do to keep things running seamlessly, which is clearly a lot, and that's an art. Pro tip: take advantage of winter rates (and there's an extra little discount for Maine residents, which is nice). Oh, and bring your pooch! The Inn is dog-friendly and there were many happy pups in their winter gear frolicking in the snow. While this was certainly a splurge for me it was one well worth it, and as a local, I'll definitely be back to do so again.
