Tiny hole in the wall sandwich shop. Literally is just a window, there is no indoors. There is pretty much always a wait for sandwiches which could be 5-10 minutes. They are a little disorganized with this process - they don't take your name or anything and unlike a deli you can't really watch your food being prepared to be ready when they call you. this little sliver of a stand has some awesome, simple yet tasty food-on-the-run. ive been to the sit down location on 14th street (music is tooo loud but the nutella/banana ciabatta toasted sandwich was to die for). my friend and i were in the area for a show and decided to grab a bite. :) i had the prosciutto and mozzarella panini (proscuitto, mozarella, sundried tomatos, a bit of olive oil). i asked them to hold the mozarella...and the guy taking my order did something pretty rare/amazing in NYC foodie-dom. he asked 'do you want extra prosciutto?' yes. he offered to give me more of something else!! without me even having to ask (i never would have). i said 'sure.' right then, i knew i was in for something good. a sandwich and a drink for a total of $8. perfect. the proscuitto sandwich was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. so fresh, crispy and flavorful. the lemonade i had was perfect as well (not sweet, more tart just the way i like). i kid you not when i say i was making mmm-mmm noises. such a great sandwich. it was a perfect meal because the tart lemonade cuts the perfectly salty prosciutto. i would make a special trip just to have this sandwich again. i want to have the prosciutto sandwich again because it was awesome...but i feel like i want to try every sandwich on the menu. definitely check Bite on Lafayette out! read more

This small corner joint (its on the corner of a triangle block) is a pretty good spot to get a take-out sandwich. The paninis are tasty and well toasted, they are very reasonably priced ($7) and the man taking your order is fast and attentive. However, if you go during the peak of the lunch rush (12:30 - 1) you will find yourself waiting a while to get your sandwich, and due to the minor chaos that can surround this place, it can get a little overwhelming. I lived in Manhattan last summer for an internship. While living on a budget and completely sick of Deli food, a co-intern recommended this sandwich stand. I love this place. Everything is fantastic. The service is efficient and quick. The neighborhood is charming and the food is absolutely fantastic. I strongly suggest the eggplant pesto panini. The bread is crisp to perfection and the eggplant just melts in your mouth. It's the perfect thing to pull you out of your hum-drum work day and give you a truly wonderful lunch. Delicious and fulfilling!! The bread tastes very fresh (I've read that they wholesale order them from Balthazar which is an amazing french bakery). Just finished having their Tomato and Prosciutto Panini and I am so disappointed. The bread was hard/stale, the sundried tomato was way too sweet and the guy loaded the sandwich with olive oil. Ekk I also tried their Country Tomato Soup and my advice is to STAY AWAY FROM THIS SOUP it tastes horrible. I don't understand the hype. Maybe I'll go back and try my luck again with a different sandwich and soup but I am feeling kinda jipped. read more

I'm a fan! The smoked pepper mayo is delicious - I've had it on the egg sandwich (served until 3 pm weekends) and the Black Forest Panini (with roast beef instead of ham - my own personal special). Have also gotten addicted to their Country Tomato Soup - full of veggie bits and herbs, with just a little spice. Warm and satisfying! Once a few people are on line the wait can feel a bit long, so probably not a good choice if you're in a rush, but otherwise stop by BITE for a reasonably priced and tasty meal in Soho! read more

A deceptively unassuming take out window at the corner of Lafayette and Bleeker streets--Bite is a ton of flavor at a very reasonable price. The menu is simple and the orders come out quickly. The food sits a step above the deli and bodega scene--it tastes exceptionally fresh and has a lot of character--always substantial and satisfying. They put eggs on my vegan sandwich. And because it was filled with egg, they didn't put much else on it so after waiting 20 minutes for it and walking back to work (another 15 minutes), i have two pieces of bread for lunch. For most, its not an option to 'go back and get another or ask them to fix it', we have fixed lunch hour breaks so there's not much to do but realize you wasted around $10.00 on nothing. I understand it gets busy, but invest in a second person to confirm the order and to hand out the food while one person takes the order and payment. It'll streamline the process and hopefully you'll have less disgruntled customers. Since I still taste remnants of egg on my sandwich (after removing them carefully), I will not be coming back. read more

I barely write yelp reviews that are negative, but I couldn't help it after my lunch today. I had ordered the Green Thai coconut soup and even though it was very tasty, my soup came delivered with a broken plastic cap and all the pieces of the plastic were in my soup... (not edible.) I had gotten the combo so with my soup came with a salad. I ordered the Feta salad with chicken but no chicken came on it. This is kind of acceptable though bc since it was a lunch combo maybe they don't add chicken. Anyways, the salad had NO dressing on it and NO dressing on the side. So basically I was just eating feta and lettuce. I was also expecting pita bread with it but instead I got a random piece of bread. I'm not satisfied at all with my experience and won't be ordering from here again. read more

So, I had heard good things about the spicy black bean soup, and the hummus, and I'm sure those things are tasty. However, I had also heard that the exotic tuna sandwich was good, and that was what I got. Unfortunately, I found the combination of tuna and curry to be absolutely vile, and was actually gagging on my sandwich as I struggled to eat it. So my advice to you is to really think about how those two flavors are going to combine on your palate, and not to overlook the curry just because of the other appealing sounding ingredients. Its a weird ass combination, and if you're anything like me, you just may find it to be revolting. That just might be my own taste buds being picky though, so I won't judge too harshly. I so have been meaning to write this review of Bite which has been my all time fav local quick grab within my work radius... No More! I ordered by hot chocolate as usual with appreciating their quick to-go turnaround on a snowy December evening..as I avidly discussed Pretzel-Covered Sea-Salted Caramels with a friend over a at local Bespoke chocolate and commented how crunchy they would be.. and what there is something poky and spiny in my hot chocolate gulp??? I split second think why did they leave a plastic wrapper?? I picked out the foreign object from my lips... IT WAS A F*IN DEAD COCK-A-ROACH! I nearly hurled and ran out to the snow and dumped out what was left over in my mouth and rushed to get some severely strong lysterine... I AM and WILL be traumatized.. No more Street Vendor Foods.. EVER and No more Bite EVER for me! And I write this only as I left the country .. for a month! and still have vivid chocolatey spiny nightmare! read more

I much prefer the sit-in Bite in Union Square, but this one is a nice to-go version for its area. All of the food is exactly the same (I recommend the Mediterranean salad or their exotic tuna sandwich), and it only takes a few minutes for the orders to come out~ If you're in the Soho area, this is one of the few places that has better than decent food and is not overpriced! read more

PIZZA/CALZONE w/a creamy tomato mayo is the best way to describe it (and mayo is the #1 condiment ever invented in my eyes). only negative is that while standing at the counter, i browsed the drink choices and decided to go with the bottle of hint brand mango-grapefruit water, w/no sugar, sweeteners or preservatives. the first sip reminded me of walking past someone with too much fruity perfume and then drinking from a water fountain. like one of the old park water fountains. not very tasty. nonetheless, five stars for bite. read more

Cheap eats. Had the turkey pesto sandwich. Wasn't bad, but wasn't good either. Lemonade was great, though. Took a while to get my food, and I think the guy who took my order forgot about my order. Everyone who came after me received their food before I did. When I approached him about it, he asked me what my order was. When I told him, he handed it to me within a minute. I guess it had been sitting there and he had forgotten to hand it over. Nice. read more
