I love the other Bite on 14th. However, this one does their brand a diservice. They don't let you pay extra for upgrades ( i.e. a goat cheese salad instead of plain in the half and half deal). I really want to write a decent review because the food is good but the service is horrendous. And this is a takeout window too. My coworker and I ordered the same sandwich, she received hers while I waited for another 30 minutes while the rest of the people behind us received their orders. I showed my receipt and they said the order was coming. While later, I asked again and they said they've been calling my order but then put the sandwich back (I've been standing at the window the whole time and never heard order being called). You know a place is good when there are people in line outside in the cold. All their paninis are amazing, very crunchy and the flavors are incredible. I stuck to the turkey pesto for too long (it's fantastic and I was obsessed), but branch out, they are all great! I've tried their breakfast mediterranean sandwich, delicious and spicy. Delicious sandwiches with many vegetarian options - this place gets it right. I've tried a few different sandwiches - the bread is invariably tasty and the fillings are always interesting. I was particularly fond of the vegan sandwich with hummus and eggplant and the eggplant panini. Let me just say that I go to Bite all of the time. It is my usual breakfast/coffee stop in the morning and sometimes my lunch stop in the afternoon. Ordering can be difficult if there is a crowd but I have yet to have a bad experience. Bite is just so convenient. I stopped here for a quick snack on my way to the library and it had everything I seek in a restaurant: great location, cheap prices, quick service, generous portions, and of course delicious food! I ordered the egg sandwich and added Swiss cheese. It was only 4$ and was practically the size of a dinner plate. Okay that's a slight exaggeration but it was way bigger than I expected. I had it on a pita and it came with a super flavorful and slightly spicy sauce. They were also quite generous with the cheese. I was stuffed after eating this. They also have a ton of other options like salads and sandwiches. It's really only a window so there isn't seating inside or anything, but there's a bench out front where you can linger if you want to sit and eat. Expect food truck speed service from this unusually shaped sandwich spot. That said, everything is really good. Specifically, the bread is very high quality, and good bread goes a long way. Happened on this place and ordered a Mediterranean egg sandwich with additional imported ham. Comes with the scrambled eggs hummus and some kind of salad all inside a nice pita. Absolutely delicious, I devoured it. Tends to be slightly sloppy so make sure you have napkins as the hummus just oozes out. It's a non-sit down hole in the wall 'to go' restaurant. I used to frequent their Union Square location when I lived up there and the food was amazing. This location is just as good, but there is no seating, which is why I gave it a 4 instead of a 5. Also, the staff is much more limited than their Union Square location. There was one person in front of me and the guy did not take very long to take and get me my order. I used to go to bite on 14th street all the time when I lived nearby...now I can enjoy it when I'm in SoHo! I love their hummus and sandwiches/panini. It's a great lunch spot to grab and go as its a small store window. You will often find people eating right outside the spot. The middle eastern vegan sandwich is so satisfying - contains eggplant, hummus, their hot sauce if you want spicy, arugula, and tomatoes. Also can get a half soup or salad and half sandwich combo. This odd sliver of a building is wedged between Bleecker and Lafeyette. Never paid this place any mind until I moved to the SoHo area. I'm glad I decided to. There's a food counter on the Lafeyette side where you order ay. My experiences have been strictly to go - breakfast, paninis, coffee, and pastries. All were good, reasonably fast, and hearty. I come here at least once a week now since I started working in the 'hood. For $8.16, i get a 1/2 panini and a soup. And it's a decent amount. The paninis have been tasty and filling (we're talking cheese, pesto,etc...even though you crave more...they give the right amount) and the soups satisfying. The spicy black bean is the only negative - it is spicy, but I expected a creamier base. Take out joint. No sit down. Tiny hole in the wall sandwich shop. Literally is just a window, there is no indoors. There is pretty much always a wait for sandwiches which could be 5-10 minutes. They are a little disorganized with this process - they don't take your name or anything and unlike a deli you can't really watch your food being prepared to be ready when they call you.
