Wow. Wow. Wow. Hands down some of the best vermicelli bowls I've ever had. It's a small space with some seating, and the sign outside is unassuming. The food is V-ery good! I tried: - the grilled pork and egg roll vermicelli bowl: the pork was tender and super flavorful; the egg roll was cut up into bite sized pieces, and added a yummy crunch - the grilled tofu vermicelli bowl: absolutely delicious! If you're unsure of tofu, try this - the tofu is marinated and has a firm, slightly crisp texture. For beverages: - the unsweetened iced Jasmine tea was super refreshing - the Thai iced tea was a 10/10! Strong tea flavor, and not overly sweet. I think this place is overpriced for what it offers. If you compare their current menu to what it was five years ago, prices have nearly doubled. I ordered the grilled pork lemongrass plate and pho. The grilled pork flavor was ok, but the texture was tough, as if the meat had been cooked earlier and reheated. And this was for dine-in. The pho was just okay. read more

I searched for vegetarian pho and V Nam popped up on yelp so I went in to try it out. When I went, and tried to order pho, they said the broth is not going to be vegetarian but it will be beef broth. So we didn't actually get to dine here, so I can't rate about the food. But when we walked in, we didn't feel welcome by the server, and we just sat ourselves down, and realized that we had to go up to the counter to order first. The server didn't tell us, or gave us any indication while we were sitting down trying to figure out. If you are not a vegetarian I'm sure you will have lots of options here, and from the other review the food sounds decent. We really wanted to try other menus that could be modified to be vegetarian, but we didn't really appreciate the interaction we had with the server so we decided to go to another place. I've eaten here before and ordered to go but something about today didn't sit well after eating it. The vermicelli pork and egg roll tasted odd and the broth for the pho had not depth but just fish sauce. Reading the the prior low reviews and I do agree with what ppl are saying. This unassuming little place is run by the kindest people, and the food is wonderful. The crab ragoons are homemade and the cream cheese filling has a unique flavor. I ordered the marinated pork with egg rolls and vermicelli. The pork has a smoky, wonderful flavor and the vegetables were so fresh. The fish sauce was homemade and perfect. My husband ordered the shrimp bun and the shrimp grilled to perfection. Really lovely meal. We'll be back! read more

I think the best PHO in Round Rock. The broth is well spiced, full mouthed without being gamey. The owners are lovely and generous in their interactions and portions. The noodles in the pho are fresh and the toppings include both cilantro AND basil, where most places offer one or the other. Location and parking are excellent. read more

We came here to get some vegetarian pho since we saw some reviews on that but their broth is beef based so no choice for plant based... perhaps you can get something else but the staff wasn't that welcoming nor friendly so we lost the desire of getting foods. Hope they try more plant based ones and improve the customer service. read more

Maybe it's just today, but it's kind of nasty in here. Roof is leaking, it's cold, bathroom and floors are dirty. Hated to see the back which looked pretty bad. And we found hair in the vermicelli. Definitely won't be back. read more

I am very picky with my Vietnamese food. But if you're looking for a gooood Viet place north of Austin then this is it. The quality, flavour, and even the quantity are all there. I typically don't like peanut sauce with my summer rolls and usually ask for fish sauce instead. However this time I forgot and was amazed how good their peanut sauce was. I know Vietnamese food. I not only worked in Vietnam, but lived for years in Oakland California one of the cities with a major Vietnamese population and a ton of fabulous authentic Vietnamese restaurants. Everything we ate was below average, embarrassingly small portions, and way overpriced. They served a single tiny slice of lime with the soup was brown, rotten and smelled horrible bitter. It is very rare for me to write a negative review, if I don't like a place I say nothing. Giving 5 stars for the pho and ambiance. The ambiance is adorable!! Classic Frenchy bistro cafe vibes. I got the beef pho that had flank, tendon, tripe and steak. Delicious with a strong star anise flavor to the broth. The small size was very filling. Plus I had one shrimp summer roll which was fine but the sauce was underwhelming. And we all know that summer rolls must be balanced with a umami rich peanut sauce. Adding the chili sauce to peanut sauce helped a lot. I did appreciate that the roll had more veggies and shrimp than noodles in it. Also had the jasmine tea which came in its own teapot so came out to about 3 cups. The tea was very meh--either that or the cup had leftover detergent smell to it that overpowered the flavor. You order at the register which I loved--adds to the casual quaint bistro feel. Small Vietnamese restaurant with good service. Love their fried spring shrimp rolls. The entire shrimp is rolled in the rolls and leaving the shrimp tail on. Their pho comes in two sizes. I ordered the smaller size. It was still very filling and good. Their broth tasted a bit sweet for my liking but still good. Portion size is good and price is fair for the market nowadays. Located at a strip mall area right next to a gym is this Vietnamese restaurant. Very small place that had about 10-15 tables for dine in. We dined in since we were visiting the area coming from Kalahari resorts. Our table ordered spring rolls and different type of pho bowls for all of us. The spring rolls was crispy because they use the rice paper instead of the spring roll wraps. I actually like the texture, but its a little but more oily than the spring roll wraps. I ordered the beef brisket pho, which had a nice flavor to the broth. Not the best but it was very enjoyable. Overall, I haven't tried any other dishes but the pho is decent. If you like pho then this is good spot in Round Rock area. read more

Under the weather and needed some Pho to heal this fever, so we ordered V-Nam to-go and it DID NOT disappoint! Pho to-go is usually a gamble, with the broth being cold or the meat not being fresh, but V-Nam was on point! Broth was delish and still hot once we got it home... the meat was stacked and plenty of both in the Pho Thai! Jalepenos were crisp and spicy and I hope to feel better soon to try other menu items! We ordered some egg rolls and wonton soup as well... all for about 25 bucks! Look forward to seeing what else is amazing once I'm feeling better ! read more

***Food Poisoning Experience - Do Not Recommend*** Our family dined here yesterday and unfortunately, we all ended up with food poisoning. We are extremely disappointed, as we were looking forward to a nice meal. The symptoms started just hours after our visit, and we believe the food was the cause. This was the only food we had. We all threw up and had diarrhea all day. We had ordered "Vietnam fried roll ( tasted okay) , grilled pork with rice ( all burnt and seemed like days old meat) and regular brisket pho ( my husband only ate pho but same symptoms)." We understand that things can happen in the kitchen, but we strongly urge the restaurant to improve their food safety practices. (+ The extra bowls were dirty and asked the owners to get another new bowls but they were still not fully washed so ended up not using them) We won't be returning, and we want to warn others to be cautious. For the sake of public health, we hope this feedback is taken seriously. read more

We ordered several menu items as we were hangry. Vietnamese egg rolls These were prepared in the traditional fashion with pork, shrimp, glass noodles, carrots, mushrooms, green and white onions. These rolls were crisp and fresh although the contents were dense. Pho Tom/Pho Chicken As most folks know, Pho is a traditional Vietnamese noodle soup made with beef or chicken broth. Just like every person has a different meatball recipe, every bowl of pho will taste slightly different depending on who prepares the dish. The intensely flavored broth in this dish was full of warm toasted spices, fresh flavors, and aromatics. I came here with my bf, it was our first time here. I was excited to come here since this place had good rating but I was a bit disappointed. 1. The ambience 6/10. It was too quiet- no music, some music did start playing after we got our food but it felt like I couldn't have a conversation without everyone there hearing (especially since it is a smaller place). The sauces at the table were sticky, seemed like they don't get wiped down. 2. The food 6/10. The food was decent but nothing special. We got pho, steamed dumplings, bahn mi and a meat plate. The dumplings were the best part but everything else was whatever. 3. The service 4/10. There was one lady there only taking orders and serving. We asked for 1 fountain drink and were charged for 2 but we didn't say anything because I understand maybe they didn't allow sharing since it was self serve. The drinks were flat and we mentioned it and she changed the syrup but it was still bad, and we had gotten 2 different drinks and they were both bad, tasted like the machine hadn't been cleaned or something. We asked if we could just have a caned drink instead, which she did give us but didn't even offer a refund. The rest of the time there she just seemed upset so it just wasn't a good experience with the service. When I stopped by the counter to pick it up 15 minutes after calling it in, it was packed and ready for me! I liked the styrofoam container because it kept the broth the perfect temperature and it was easy to hold. The meat to rice noodle ratio is good. We got a B2 instead of a P2 (they probably misheard over the phone) and ended up with a tofu bun bowl instead of a seafood dish. I really enjoyed the accidental tofu bowl and would order it purposefully again! The kids had pho with brisket and the thin lean meat. The brisket was quite thick cut. First time here. Questionable filling in pork rolls with an off taste. Meat in Bahn Mi tasted old. Soup version of Hu Tieu Mi Nuoc had no depth of flavor. From the makers of Pho Lee, new Viet Restaurant that just opened up near IKEA so you don't have to force feed those Swedish meatballs and jam to the kids any longer. Get the balls in pho form. What I ordered was Egg Noodle Soup with Chinese Pork BBQ and Shrimp. Commonly mislabeled at many American Viet restaurants as Hu Tieu. The pork was perfectly, moist, thick and tender. The shrimp, large size with the tail shell on the end. The broth, well done to remind me of the egg noodle soups that some of the best Chinese restaurants do here. Layer of pork fat and crisps. All the right vegetables including a Chinese chives on the side, so you make th call on how traditional to go. To make it "approachable" (more on this word later) they took out the liver, the hearts, the ground pork, squid, but they left everything that makes the broth and soup still addicting Re: "Approachable" Asian Food because no ones asking To no fault of their own, there are plenty places where Viet owners cannot be bold enough to cook from their hearts because the American clientele would get detracted. Places that cut so much out that it becomes just a meat + lemongrass dish. Afterall, Viet food was not welcomed when it came over in the mid-70's. It's certainly better, thanks to Bourdain, but it can't be all accepted when highly pressed restaurants continue to have a tagline missions to make X food "approachable". Because we still have a long ways to go on people telling us our food is un-approachable, I'm very much fond of V Nam Bistro.
