Stopped in for a birthday celebration on a sunday evening and were seated immediately. Space is fun with lots of neon decor and murals and palm trees. Staff were super attentive and all so kind! We got a variety of appetizers - edamame (very garlicky but good if that's your palette!), Tiger Cry (incredible and good portion), and the spicy crab rangoon (their top seller, very good and not too spicy). Everyone was a bit too ambitious so we got a variety of entrees as well (bao buns, yakisoba short rib, pad thai, salmon and sushi). This review is for a take-out order. I was feeling like Ramen and decided to give BITES a try based on how diverse their menu was. I placed an order on Grubhub and got the following items: Creamy Tonkotsu Ramen (Creamy pork broth, chashu pork, fresh noodles, menma, shredded cabbage, mayu, shredded nori, pickled ginger, chopped scallions, soft-boiled egg, and toasted sesame seeds), Crying Tiger (Char-grilled Certified Angus flank steak, Thai-style marinade, chopped scallion, toasted rice powder, tamarind salsa), Coconut Shrimp (Five pieces of crispy jumbo shrimp, shredded coconut, sweet-chili sauce) Angus Steak Fried Rice (Certified Angus flank steak, sliced onion, cherry tomato, chopped scallions, scrambled egg, and fried garlic) Blueberry-Yuzu Cheesecake Crispy Spring Rolls (3pcs) First let me start off with the delivery service itself. BITES did a nice job of packing the food for delivery. As you can see from the photos, everything was nicely packaged and nothing spilled out. Food arrived nice and warm and ready to be eaten. The Creamy Tonkotsu Ramen came in two separate containers, which was nice as I got to mix everything on hand. The broth was really nice and it held up on delivery. The flavor profile was very nice and the chashu pork was nice and tender. The Crying Tiger was on point! I would so order this as a main dish, the meat was just that tasty. I could so see this with a side of mashed potatoes or rice/salad. The Coconut Shrimp were of a decent size and tasty as well as the Crispy Spring Rolls, pretty standard fare. Blueberry-Yuzu Cheesecake was okay as a end to dinner with some bubbles. The Angus Steak Fried Rice was very good. This was for The Doctor and he loved it! I tried some as well and have to say I would totally get this next time and maybe have it as a side with the Crying Tiger. The rice was prepared nicely, it was not greasy like some dishes I have had before. The only thing that I would have asked for was to leave the garlic out. I love it but it does not love me. This was a very good meal and we will be ordering from them again. Bites beat out Medieval Times for our dinner -- and honestly, we made the right decision! Everything was delicious, especially the taro fries -- hands down the best I've had. The service was attentive and friendly, and both bartenders made us feel welcome while we sat at the bar. I ordered an iced Thai tea that hit the spot perfectly, and my partner tried the bao buns (one of each of the meat options) -- all of them were wonderful. The ambiance was lovely with great music and a relaxed vibe. The only small hiccup was with the reservation system. So many fun menu options! Definitely a great place to come with a small group and try a bunch of different stuff. The spicy crab rangoon were my favorite part of the meal. The spicy tiger was a close second! A deliciously marinated flank steak. The General Tso's chicken sandwich had such a tasty sauce and was a generously sized sandwich. Pretty good sandwich but I'd rather venture out to try something else. The only dish I tried that was average was the roasted duck bao bun. Bun itself was good as was the marinade on the duck. The waitress was telling us how they reduced the size of the beef in the ramen and I was thinking that meant it was less slices but boy was I wrong. The beef rib is literally half of the bowl and it isn't a small bowl. Next time we are going to share the ramen and maybe order an appetizer. Came on a Sunday afternoon for an early dinner. We happened to be nearby and wanted to give this restaurant a shot. Previously we came during restaurant week and it was overcrowded so we left. On this occasion, the vibe was chill. We got a nice table right near the window. Our server was really nice, I believe the servers name was Jeep. We started off with cocktails and some appetizers. First time trying this fusion place, based on Yelp recommendations and it did not fail! Went on a weekend for lunch, was surprised that there was no wait. The place is decent size with more than enough tables and cute decor. Servers were friendly. Street parking available. Now for the food - we ordered the soft shelled crab sliders, char siu bao and soft shelled mentaiko pasta. The sliders were reasonably sized and with fried soft shelled crab and some sauce that was a bit like hoisin but more tart. The char siu bao had a good sized portion of the meat and the bun and carrot/daikon were classic bao accompaniments. The surprise was the pasta. Although a bit pricey at $25, it came with a huge helping of pasta, good sized portion soft shelled crab and about 6 large shrimps! Flavor was great and sauce was creamy but not too overwhelming. Tried BITES Asian Kitchen for Restaurant Week and it was such a fun, flavorful experience from start to finish. Appetizers: We started with Thai-style street corn and crispy crab Rangoon with sweet chili sauce. The corn was buttery and slightly smoky, topped with scallions and crunchy bits that added great texture. A squeeze of lime brightened everything up. The crab Rangoon were light, crispy, and not greasy at all -- perfect with the sweet and tangy dipping sauce. For sushi, we ordered the bacon nigiri and the 24K Maki, and both were delicious. The bacon nigiri was rich and savory, with the smokiness balancing beautifully against the seasoned rice. The 24K Maki was not only eye-catching but packed with flavor -- fresh, well-balanced, and layered with great textures in every bite. Both were very flavorful and definitely highlights. Main Courses: One entrée featured thick, chewy noodles topped with Chinese sausage, fresh radish slices, scallions, chili oil, and a rich egg yolk that brought everything together once mixed in. It was savory, slightly spicy, and super comforting with a great balance of textures. The other dish was honey walnut shrimp, and it did not disappoint. Stopped in on a chilly day and immediately we were transported to a beautiful, tropical paradise. It's almost a Golden Girls vibe but updated for today, and that is high praise in my book! Ramen sounded like the right idea, but the menu is so varied that it was pretty hard to choose what we wanted. Our server gave great recommendations. We had to get the crab rangoon--and so do you! These aren't the old take-out ones you get everywhere else. They're really special here. The beef rib ramen was incredible. Amazing presentation and a gorgeous broth. We visited a little while ago and we loved the duck buns and ebi roll that we had to run them back another time. We also ordered the 24k roll that features delicious yellow fin tuna, heaps of black tobiko some other toppings and edible gold leaves on top! Such a fun roll to eat. On the coldest day of the year (so far), I started Chicago Rstaurant Week here, and it did not disappoint. 1st course - Crab Rangoon. Crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside. And the sweet and sour sauce had a mild touch of heat that tickled my taste buds, instead of burning them off. 2nd course - Bacon Nigiri Thick, crunchy candied bacon on rice with pickle ginger and some of the most powerful wasabi I've ever had. Took the hair out of my nose. Trust me. A little goes a long way. 3rd course - Udon Carbonara I didn't know it was topped with soft egg yolk. I loved it. Wasn't sure of I was going to like the Chinese sausage, but I did. It looked like dark sun dried tomatoes. Tasted like a sweet cousin to bacon. Consistency of jerky without being nearly as chewy. Hard to describe properly, but it was delicious. And the sauce? Creamy, surprisely salted well. And the taste? It baffled me. One minute, it tasted like cheese sauce (courtesy of a boatload of parmesan cheese. Next mimute - brown gravy. Every bite was culinarily intriguing. 4th Course - Tempura Brownies Batter fried brownie bites served with Green Tea Ice Cream. The brownies by themselves are chewy, like Mochi Ice Cream. The Green Tea Ice Cream by itself had a very strong Tea flavor. Together? They were perfect. All in all, a great meal and great service for the price. Definitely consider going to Bites Asian Kitchen + Bar during Chicago Restaurant Week. Ask for Angela's section. Tell her Shell said "Hi!" I don't know what happened but the food quality dropped a lot after a year. And the price increased over 20% in a year My favorite smoked brisket noodle is not even close to what it was. The meat is now cube and kinda dry. Doesn't have much flavor but lots of MSG. My mouth was dry for a whole day and water didn't help at all Spicy crab ragoon still pretty good. Me and my girlfriend recently came in after googling last minute dinner options. We saw BITES had good reviews and good choices on the menu. A surprisingly tasty and very vibey Asian fusion spot up near Wrigleyville. Food-wise this place is actually pretty good and they cover a wide variety of Asian cuisine on their menu. The best dishes we tried were probably the crab Rangoons and the galbi, they were packed with flavor and hit the right spot. Aesthetically the restaurant, drinks, and food are actually quite spectacular and very artistic. The service is also really good. The only real downfall with this spot is that it's a bit pricy for Asian food (but as to be expected with Asian fusion), I think if portion sizes were bigger this would easily be five stars. read more

Went on a solo lunch for restaurant week 2025. Surprisingly there was a decent amount of people also getting lunch. The vibes inside are colorful and fun! Im sure they get busy for dinner. Felt bad cause there was only one employee in charge of the check-in desk AND the entire dining room. But I didn't have to wait long during my experience. Course 1: duck bao bun - Soft and flavorful Course 2: shrimp pad Thai - Pretty decent! Big portion with plenty for leftovers. Came with 7 pieces of big shrimp. Course 3: banana wontons - These are a MUST. So so good and a great way to end my meal. I ordered a Vietnamese iced coffee to go so I could bring to work. Fair warning - it is STRONG. I've eaten here several times and never had a bad experience, but writing this review specifically for the general tso tofu sandwich! Tofu can be pretty hit or miss at restaurants and I was a little wary about it in sandwich form, but it was delicious. Really thick slabs of tofu that were super crispy on the outside but light and fluffy on the inside. Also came with fully coated fries that stayed crispy even through the delivery process. One last note - do not skip the garlic edamame! read more

A friend introduced me to BITES Asian Kitchen + Bar during an end of year happy hour and I cannot believe I haven't known about this place sooner. This is the perfect date night spot or happy hour with friends. The decor is cute and social media friendly so anyone looking for those vibes. The inside is large and easily can accommodate parties of various sizes. I visited when the happy hour first started so the restaurant is empty but as the night went on it became packed. I highly recommend visiting earlier in the evening if you want to avoid the crowd. I didn't have a reservation since it was so early but I recommend having one if you're going later in the evening. The wait staff was very friendly and patiently waited for me the rest of my party to arrive. When I did start to order my waitress had different recommendations if my group was torn between a dish or drink. The presentation of the drinks is lovely! I ordered the My Tai and Deadly Nightshade. They were very different vibes but both equally tasty. I was forewarned by my waitress that the Deadly Nightshade was strong and she did not lie. It is the type of drink that sneaks up on you. I ordered the Bites Wings and Crying Tiger which is char-grilled angus flank steak with Thai-style marinade. I was surprised by the portion sizes because one was priced for the happy hour and the other was priced for their December promotion. I got the General Tso style chicken which was delicious with a hint of spice. The Crying Tiger was unfortunately overcooked. The steak needed to be cut in half to consume because you might pull out a tooth trying to bite a small piece off. The sauce was still delicious but I couldn't finish the dish because the meat was too tough. I will definitely come back so I can try some of the bigger dishes! read more

I have eaten at BITES several times, and left thinking it was good, but not too much better. But my husband and I went there a few days ago with some friends (who dine there often) and their family. There were eight of us. And during this visit, I was blown away by the excellent food and the service. We arrived at 5:00pm to take advantage of BITE's Happy Hour where cocktails are $11 and there is a discount on some of their best appetizers. We were greeted with a smile by an enthusiastic server who was very attentive, efficient, and friendly. Everyone at our table ordered a cocktail or wine. BITE's delicious cocktails are beautifully decorated with orchid flowers and festive umbrellas. We ordered spicy crab rangoon and wings for the table. Both were exceptionally delicious, and the wings were really good with a crispy breading with a spicy/sweet glaze. Our lovely server surprised our table with an order of their wonderfully crispy taro fries. All of the food was excellent and the portions are large. Everyone at the table ordered something different, and enjoyed what they ordered. I ordered the coconut shrimp. It comes with five huge pieces--each almost 8-inches long and delicious. The meat in BBQ pork bao that I ordered was a bit dry and chewy, but that was the only negative. By the time we were ready to leave two hours later, the restaurant was packed, because it's good!
