I've always done take out here because it's close to my home. I get the same appetizers and they take special requests on sushi seriously. They have never messed it up and I really appreciate that. Staff is friendly and very helpful. There was a monsoon that started around 1:30 today and the hostess was kind enough to offer me a garbage bag to cover the brown shopping bags I had. Definitely a staple restaurant in Lakeview. The menu is HUGE which is kind of a double edged sword: it is fun that you have a lot of different things to choose from, yet at the same time I feel like that takes away from the quality of food you can get. Stopped by after the Halloween parade off Halsted. The restaurant was busy with takeaway orders and had a few tables that were starting to fill up from fellow parade observers. The staff were friendly and the decor was some notches up from your standard Chinese restaurant. Salt and Pepper shrimp. I usually get this in other restaurants as an appetizer with squid so I knew what to expect. The shrimp were fried well and were crunchy but not overly so. The dish had a nice subtle kick. We were craving some American Chinese food and heard this was the place to go. Came in for dinner on Valentine's Day and there were plenty of tables. Started with the egg rolls, two large rolls. Good mix of shrimp, chicken, and veggies as well as a very noticeable hint of peanut butter which I enjoyed. Our two mains were shrimp fried rice and sesame chicken. The shrimp was good but the fried rice could have been a little more savory. The sesame chicken was super crispy and the exact flavor I look for. Good chicken to breading ratio with more than enough sauce. One thing to note, the food got cold pretty quickly imo which made the sesame chicken in particular not good. It kind of has a strange layout too, where you have to go around the bend to the seating area. It's not a big place, at all inside. The service was kind of OK - the lady admittedly was on her first day, but she just wasn't up with the service. For example, just not doing refills, not knowing the menu, etc. I get it - first day. I'm giving this place the benefit of the doubt. Our friends that took us there vouch for this place; they're regulars. And there were right on one thing; the food was great. The Ma Po Tofu was great. The Kung Pao Vegetables were also good. There was this veggie sushi, which I really loved. It had some crispy stuff in there. I can't find it on the online menu, but whichever one it was, I loved it. We also had the veggie fried rice, which was just OK. I ate a LOT of food there, cuz it was so good. You know, there are SO many more amazing looking options on the menu, I definitely would want to come back here to give it a shot. In fact, I noticed there's another location down near West Town, so I'll definitely give it a shot. Now that I think about it - maybe we already have? Hmm... I'll have to look in to that. I'm a regular at Ping Pong (down the block) but Little Wok has slowly and surely won my heart. I've only been here a couple times for take out but tonight I decided to poke in for a solo dinner and man was it spectacular! All around exceptional meal. First off, love the servers. They're just the best! Secondly, the presentation of the food is solid. Already off to a good start based on those factors alone but the food itself was top tier. Generally I have ordered sesame chicken -- tonight I went with the orange chicken and it has to be among the best in Chicago. I started my meal with some Sashimi Unagi (eel) and a Lucky Buddha. After walking by this restaurant several times we finally decided to stop in and give it a try. The food was fantastic so we were very glad we did. We started off with vegetable spring rolls, which turned out to be crispy on the outside with a bright fresh filling, accompanied by some sweet and sour sauce and hot Asian mustard. The mustard cleared my sinuses. For our entrees we had the Pad Thai, which was mind blowingly good, with a thin rice noodle, spicy sauce that had a hint of panang curry flavor. We also had the Pad See Eiw. With it's umami flavored oyster sauce, mushrooms thick noodles and tons of vegetables. We really enjoyed all these dishes. We ordered from Little Wok on Christmas after my husband caught the bad cold I had the week before. Celebrating Christmas just the two of us, we weren't in the mood to make a big, extravagant meal. That's when we found Little Wok. We scheduled a 7pm order at about 5pm since Christmas night can sometimes be a busy night for people to order in. Our food came just after 7 and everything was hot and packaged really nicely! We ordered egg rolls, crab rangoons, chicken fried rice, lo mein, and orange chicken. All this food was definitely not necessary, the portions are huge! But, we wanted to try multiple menu items since this was our first time trying it, and it was Christmas after all! Plus, amazing leftovers. The crab rangoons were the most disappointing item. I am a huge lover of crab rangoons, and these just didn't do it for me. The crunch wasn't really there, and the flavor inside was overpowered by onions. Sad. Everything else though really impressed me. The star of the show: the lo mein. This meal was so dang good, we kept fighting for bites. The flavors were some of the best that I've had in Chicago. The range chicken was pretty standard, but good! Fried rice hada nice flavor as well. Little Wok filled us up with some yummy food on Christmas day. We will definitely order again for that phenomenal lo mein! read more

My first visit to Little Wok was 5 stars but with the most recent visit it is definitely now only 1 star. There were several issues during this visit: 1.We had to wait a long time just for a waiter to come to our table to get our orders. Employees were constantly passing us by and finally one asked if we were helped to which we said, we absolutely were not. Finally got our orders in. 2.We put in our orders for drinks and entrees and waited for our food. We expected to get our drinks first as that is usually the case at most restaurants, but not here. My other friends got their soups but no drinks yet. I looked at the bar and saw that our drinks were ready but then our waiter comes down with our entree. I had to ask again if we are still getting our drinks (as our waiter seemed to forget about them) to which he said that they are still getting them ready, which obviously was not correct. He finally walked to the bar and saw that they were ready and brought them over. 3.The food was overall lacking in flavor and FULL of salt. I love ramen and know that it can be a little salty but this tasted like eating spoonfuls of salt. I barely ate half as I had to drink a glass of water after every spoonful of the ramen. Highly recommend against the ramen here, so many better places for that in the area. read more

Ok so here's my honest review. I love Chinese food and have searched long and hard since moving to Chicago from San Francisco for anything I would remotely give a few stars to. The 3 stars is only because I only ordered two dishes for delivery, the lo mein and the pot stickers. The pot stickers were really meh. I saw someone else who said they were "over stuffed and had a bone inside" i will say they are over stuffed. They're huge. But it's not bone it's gristle. No one wants or needs gristle in their food so I would say this is sloppy on their part. The lo mein was excellent. I had chicken with veggies (which was kind of confusing to order but I figured it out). The portion was huge so that was also a plus. Over all I will totally eat here again. I'm not kidding when I say this place may be one of my favorite chinese/ sushi restaurants I have ever went to. Now recently, this was my second time coming to Little Wok and there's a reason I took my friends here for a little double date. First of all, we sat outside this past weekend and the weather was phenomenal for a mid April evening. Sitting outside on Division St is unmatched - It basically gives Italy vibes because all the restaurants have cute outdoor seating areas. We got SAT WITHOUT A WAIT OR RES. We were originally trying to go to a BYOB place in Wicker Park (just because we hadn't tried it yet) but the wait was unbearable. To my surprise we walked right up to the host and were sat immediately on a Friday night. Now, for our starters we got edamame and crab rangoon both which were scrumptious... The only thing I didn't like was the spicy horseradish sauce for the crab rangoon LOL. For our entrees I started with the miso soup and my boyfriend got the wanton soup. Both were delicious. Then we split some white rice and sesame chicken. I can't even describe how good the chicken was. Sincerely amazing and it is perfect to split as it is an extremely large portion. My friends got sushi (cannot recall which rolls) but also were extremely satisfied. I will be back for the sushi. Just was craving chinese on this occasion. GO HERE. read more

The description says it has onions. It did not have any. The description also did not say it had mushrooms. I specifically ordered this because it wasn't supposed to have mushrooms. As for the mixed vegetables, there were none. There was also no fried egg. The broccoli was also undercooked and cold. The ribs were the texture of jerky. To place my order I was forced to make an account. When I picked my order up, the workers were sitting on the table that my food was also sitting on. I said I was picking up and order and gave them the name. They quickly grabbed the bag and handed it to me without saying anything and returned to their phones.
