From the story behind the antique store and cafe to the quality of the food, everything is top notch. We have been coming here for three years and the place has remained authentic and the food delicious. Absolutely the best restaurant in the Yough Lake area. We went for lunch yesterday & had a wonderful meal. I had the toasted cheese sandwich with pulled pork & it was delicious. My husband had the toasted cheese sandwich with bacon & was equally happy. The smoothies are delicious, too. So creamy & flavorful. I chose strawberry banana. Yum! We ate outside, which meant we were able to bri g our Welsh terrier along. Love doing this! The one caveat I will add about Bittersweet is that the meal isn't fast. We're fine with this because the food is so good & there also is plenty to do to make the time pass. This cute little "farm to table 'ish'" cafe is the BEST. If I lived near here I would be a regular. I had the best Breve! Their menu items are so yummy. As a fellow Christian, I was happy to finally get the news that I could drink coffee and honor Christ at the same time. After reading reviews on here I went with my family over the summer and was shocked at the bible verses the staff were printing on their chalk boards. I started to get my phone out to take pictures and the workers were yelling abuse and shooing me out of the store but I do remember one verse from Numbers which states: "therefore, k*ll every male among the little ones, and k*ll every woman who has known man intimately. But all the girls who have not known man intimately, spare for yourselves. Numbers 31:17" While I think non-Christians should not be able to drink coffee, I do think this business could pick and choose which bible verses to live by and ignore the ones they don't like. I liked it here a lot. The food was fantastic, the decor amazing, and the service was really phenomenal. The only issue I had was nothing on the menu or on the chalkboards had prices. I want to get that out of the way first before I go on how great the food was. I should have asked about the prices but I just didn't even think to since things look really good. The sandwiches were $11 each, but did not come with any side, and sides were about $4. The food was worth it, but the prices were a bit steep. Worth it, but for only a splurge. It was like a dream driving down the road and we randomly came across this cafe. We actually went down the road to do some wine tasting but decided to double back to get some lunch. The entire way to the tasting we were like, "should we stop" , "should we go back" "it looks cute, lets go"? I am really happy we did. The food and drinks were out of this world and it was adorable inside. The girl who took our order at the register was super sweet and perky and helped me work through some of my questions about the menu. It was great. Sandwiches: Grilled Cheese with Pulled Pork: Our blend of Provolone and Cheddar with our dry-rubbed pork, slow-cooked with a barbeque mop on our buttered rustic sourdough. Wowza. I just had a taste and it was fantastic. The bbq sauce was really great, interesting and more jam like than sauce but I loved it. The pulled pork was not dry at all, which is always a concern, and mixed really well with the cheese. The bread held everything together and was a great tasting sourdough. I would say I would get this again for sure. Reuben Sandwich: Pumpernickel topped with fresh sauerkraut, swiss, nitrate & nitrite free corned beef and our house Russian dressing grilled to perfection. Reubens are my go to. I always get them, so when I saw this on on the menu I knew it was going to be getting into my belly really soon. The sandwich was packed with the corned beef and had just enough of the sauerkraut on it to make you full, but also left you wanting to eat more. The house Russian dressing was also phenomenal. I cannot stress enough how good this was. Not at all gross or weird or funky at all, like some house dressing are; all the ingredients were blended to perfection. I would get this again, and again, and again. Sides: Mac and Cheese: Really good and standard Mac and Cheese. The side was big enough for two, or if needed a stand alone dish for one (if they wanted to be boring and order just that). Drinks: Sweet Lemon Mint Tea: I asked the register lady how sweet this was and she told me pretty sweet. I then was wavering and was just going to order water and she says, "how about I just make it with half unsweetened tea". WHAT! Thank you for that suggestion! Didn't even think about it! The tea was really good. I would probably go for the unsweetened version again. I am not the sweetest of tea people. Blagh. But this was good! Frozen Mocha: This was a hit! It was like a frozen hot chocolate with a bit of coffee in it. YUMMY!! This place was a gem. I would highly suggest you go, I know I hope to go back soon! read more

We came here after we swam in Ohiopyle state park, just about 3 miles down the road. It's such a GORGEOUS, quaint restaurant which is actually a cafe. There's a beautiful garden surrounding it and a beautiful friendly cat to welcome you. The food was DELICIOUS, and came so quick with friendly staff. We got the apple harvest salad( HIGHLY recommend), the home fries for a side, the bird sandwich, and waffles! A little pricier but totally worth it for the experience! This cafe is absolutely adorable!! I drove past this everyday while I spent a weekend in Ohiopyle. It is so cute so naturally I had to stop before I headed home. The inside is just as cute as the outside. They have your typical cafe food and lunch items. The line to order is usually always pretty long and you do have to wait awhile, but once you order you food, you get it pretty quickly. So the wait to order is the longest part. I was a little bummed when I saw the prices though. They are pretty pricey for the quality of food they serve. I was actually not super impressed with the food, but I loved the vibe of the cafe so much that I will definitely be back. Maybe I will try something new next time! I will say that you should definitely try the smoothies. They are really good. Parking may be tough at times because this place can get pretty busy, but there is a bigger lot in the back. We found this little gem on the drive back from Seven Springs! Stopped here for coffee, met the owner if the antique shop. She was so sweet. She asked me about my day, and told me she'd been open for 20+ years and that her daughter just opened the coffee shop next door. This is the type of hospitality you only get in the Midwest. The short version: Lovely space. Good beverages. Friendly staff, but we did happen to be at counter when someone was having a moment of frustration and needed to vent about other customers and staffing. Food - some excellent, but was not consistent. Pricing seemed high, even by 2023 standards. We stopped in after normal lunch hours - 3 pm on a Friday. The ambiance is wonderful. Much attention given to the esthetics. Beautifully maintained planters. Charming seating options indoors and out. I did grab some paper towels to wipe off our table and chairs, but restrooms were clean and the space was quite pleasant. So five stars for atmosphere. Initial service was good. Pleasant greeting. Knowledgeable person working the counter. And we didn't wait too long for our food. However, when we returned to counter for our dessert selection, our server had apparently recently had an unpleasant experience with a previous customer and was venting to us about it. Didn't ruin our experience, but didn't elevate it either. Food. My daughter ordered the Bird sandwich and said it was delicious. I ordered the Ruben. It was OK, but not special. Not much dressing on it. Bread was good. We shared an order of home fries and were expecting fried or griddled potatoes with perhaps some crispy bits. These were more like boiled potato slices. Soft and somewhat dark in color. Lots of black pepper. Very little green pepper. We each took a bite or two and left the dish untouched afterwards. Daughter had a white chocolate flavored coffee loved it. I had a mint flavored iced tea. Very refreshing, but very small serving. Our modest lunch with two drinks was just under $60 (including tip). My mac and cheese was nothing more than watery cheese on macaroni noodles. I went to the counter to ask for a refund and the women behind the counter was very rude to me. Locals, use to love this place. Now last two times we had issues. We thought today was a good day to go, kind of off season, and it wasn't busy. But they screwed up my wife's order-she was excited to get a holiday tortilla of some sort, they gave her a ham sandwich, when it came back out it was a quesadilla of some sort with dark meatish texture- it was a mess. Now every table was not clean (I cleaned mine and our neighbors table with some paper napkins I had to get behind the counter). Wife went to the bathroom, no toilet paper. Not sure why this was, as it really wasn't busy as usual Guess just an off day for them, but twice now we had similar issues. The prices are just very high for the local folks, especially for this type of service and portion size. People seem nice but for the price and quality they need to get where they use to be. read more

This place had my attention on the way to Ohio Pyle State Park. I was excited on the way back when my fiancé said we were going to stop at this little Gym. We walked in and immediately noticed the quaint feel of the bakery/restaurant the menu was small but it had a lot of good things on it. And immediately the chicken salad caught my eye! Chicken salad is literally one of my favorites!! I am prone to eating that right up!!!! The chicken salad was really good! On the soft white Italian bread it was definitely carbapalooza! The nice thing was we sat at the wrap around porch on the pic NIC table and enjoyed the meal. Our daughter sat in the couch swing and ate her chocolate chip cookies! Sunday was 66and sunny so we were able to Take in the beautiful property and its entirety I think the next time we stop at ohipyle state park this will be our snack spot!! read more

Awesome gem ready for a big reveal, or maybe not. Its these kind of places which makes one go off the road or the beaten track to not just have a cup or coffee or a sandwich but to find stories and have a good time. More than 2 decades old antique shop expanded into a rustic, cozy coffee shop( well its actually more than that). Snowfall on the first day of spring did make the visit even more special however it would be nice any time of the year as the patio/back garden also seemed very very inviting. Definitely try their Coffee infused creme brulee. Its homey and rustic and definitely makes one feel happy. Not always one wants the Alton Brown or those vouched by food network people in general. Seemed like a great place to host any celebrations having 40-50 people as well. Cant wait to go back even when its a 3 hours drive. Go and make memories. read more

Wonderful joint right outside of Ohiopyle! We first went here to grab some drinks before our hike - I have to add this is during a social distancing phase - the way they handled ordering and bringing our drinks to our car was fantastic. They have the operation down and are very happy to be working and servicing the neighbors that live nearby and the guests coming to see the falls. The drinks were great but the ambience of their place was even better. Whoever is the gardener here is very talented and makes this cafe feel like home. We were so happy to come here before our hike that we stopped afterwards for some much needed dinner. We had the cranberry apple chicken salads and added a side of pickled beets. They so graciously allowed us to dine outside on their patio, as no other customers were there and we were able to social distance. The whole experience made you feel less like we are living in a world of pandemic and more like the world we used to know. So happy we came here, and thank you for your wonderful service and for being open during this very difficult time. We will be return customers anytime we are in the area! read more

Stopped here for a quick breakfast and coffee. The place was very busy. It was raining too so there was a wait for seating but it wasn't a problem. The interior was bright and welcoming. Staff was friendly but was rushing to accommodate the customers in a timely manner. The breakfast sandwich looked small at first but was actually very filling. The red bell pepper jams was really tasty!! The other mustard sauce was very odd. It almost had a gooey play doh consistency but it still had a nice flavor. They have a pay it forward wall which is a nice little touch. They also have a world map which you can pin to show where you came from. Unfortunately, they didn't have more pins so I couldn't pin my location. Maybe someone can pin Kharkov, Ukraine and Houston, Texas for me :) read more

Biscuits, eggs, cheese, sausage. Sound familiar? Well, the biscuits and sausage patties are homemade, the eggs are real fried eggs, and the cheddar and provolone cheeses used are much better in quality. No contest. Visited here on an early Saturday morning for a quick breakfast and coffee fix before stopping at Falling Water! We tried their breakfast sandwich option, some with bacon and others with their rosemary sausage. They came with a little side of sweet red pepper jelly and mustard. LOVED the jelly and like how the sauces are on the side - you can choose what you want to add. Otherwise, it is a perfectly sized english muffin with lots of cheese and a nice egg patty. My only change would be to have a softer yolk, because otherwise it is delicious. Their home fries however, were underwhelming. A really hefty and extremely hot off the stove top - but they lacked salt and crispiness. Overall a decent side but only if craving them. Was highly surprised by their coffee drink options, large variations of lattes and all sounded yummy. Their pumpkin spice latte may be the best i've ever had - tasted very much like pumpkin SO yummy. Highly recommend ordering their muddled mint latte iced as well, super yummy with the perfect balance of milk to espresso which is hard to get right. What a nice find on this stretch of road on our way back from bike riding at Ohiopyle on the last day of the year. I was told this cafe has been open for six years, but the twinkling lights at dusk drew our attention for the first time and the cozy Christmas decor inside was an enchanting discovery. We ordered at the counter, although this isn't fast food, you'll wait a while for the food to be brought to the table. Service was friendly. I ordered a cheese sandwich, also we had a hamburger The Bird sandwich and Snow Soup (barley, beef an carrots). All delicious. I really enjoyed my London Fog (Earl Grey tea with steamed frothy milk) on this gray tea (except no refills - I'll try to recreate at home). Lunch was on the pricier side ($61 for the 3 of us; maybe because the Nemacolin guests want a place to go? Idk.) But overall such a nice cafe that we will definitely be back, maybe for brunch. read more

The ambiance is beautiful but the coffee drinks are incredibly overpriced. I ordered my usual - 16 oz Americano (came with two shots), add extra shot, 1/2 in steamed milk -- $9.00!!! This drink costs me about $4.95 at Starbucks. I have never paid more than maybe $5.50 and I'm from California. My favorite shop in CA serves 4 shots in their 16 oz Americano for literally half the price. $9.00?! Completely insane. And the coffee was just OK. will never go back after that. read more

Oh my gosh. I've been going to this place for years and everytime it's better. I've tried almost everything on their menu and every time I think, oh this is my favorite! There are no bad or even "just okay" choices. They have brunch style food and everything is heavenly. The Belgium waffles are the best you will ever have! Hot tea, hot chocolate, hot coffee, iced coffee, fresh fruit smoothies galore. The perfect little get away food spot. The have some indoor seating but mostly outdoor seating. And if you go you will surely understand why. It is a little slice of serenity. Beautiful, colorful flowers and plants everywhere you see, just off the road but so peaceful you're sure to want to stay awhile. You might even be lucky enough to be visited by Bob the cat, who is the sweet and friendly resident tabby with lots of personality that just adds to the charm of this little cafe. If it's not warm and sunny it's still the perfect spot to stop and grab some seasonal baked treats and a warm drink to take in the beautiful scenery. Recommended by a good friend of mine.. we fell in love with this restaurant just walking in. There's a little shop with gift items you can walk through to get to the café. It was there we were greeted by an adorable gray cat - fell in love! I ordered the pulled pork and cole slaw and strawberry lemonade smoothie and my boyfriend ordered the burger. I enjoyed my meal and smoothie very much and had a bite of the burger.. it was amazing!! My boyfriend has not stopped talking about this burger! The service was outstanding while ordering. We asked many questions - all were answered and they were very accommodating. The café is so charming to look at inside and out.. we look forward to returning. 5 stars - deserved. Bravo. read more
