Love this location! The choco croissant was so fluffy and delicious. The abricotine was awesome too. Staff was super nice and funny. The inside has a lot of seating for coworking too. It does get busy but as it should!
Amazing!!! Simply put this is hands down the best almond croissant I've ever had in my life. Do yourself a favor if you are within a 20 min drive of this place. Stop and get at least one of those but get a half dozen if you are driving or live far away. I got an assortment of pastries, and I regret not getting more. The staff was so friendly and helpful when helping me pick what I wanted. The bakery is a small place with limited space but what a great place to stop and enjoy a piece of Pittsburgh and an amazing experience.
Great service, excellent pastries and sandwiches! Really can't go wrong with anything here, but would definitely recommend the Montagnard sandwich if you're a prosciutto lover, and the almond croissants... they're absolutely worth trying once and then you'll no doubt be addicted to the. The cafe is also a great spot to sit and read, so work, but be prepared for some crowds
After attempting to have there two days in a row, the third time was the charm. Now if you're going to be closed on a holiday AND the following day, please update your website and put a notice in the door! But alas, it was mostly worth the wait. Latte was strong (in a good way) and the pastries were delicious as exp. The only bummer was the chocolate eclair, the chocolate was way too dense and overpowering. Quiche is light, eggy and smooth and the kouign-amann was delightful (though a tad dense). There's plentiful seating and the music (except for the Holiday tracks) has cool '70s & '80s vibes.
Stopped in for breakfast. Beat the rush and had the server help me in my decision. I went with the cold brew, almond croissant, and a slice of quiche Lorraine. Plenty of seats both inside and outside. I sat inside. Called my name and grabbed my order. Cold brew was nice and smooth. Almond croissant was flat and crispy. Hadn't had one like that style before. Can taste the almond in every bite. The quiche Lorraine was very moist and soft. So much flavor all around. Great start to my morning!
Maybe I'm too used to Seattle prices, but this place has phenomenal prices. An apricot croissant for less than $3???? What?????? It was hard to believe. The pastries here aren't amazing - I like my croissants a little flakier - but they have a raspberry macaron with lychee cream (a take on the Ispahan if you're a Pierre Herme lover like myself). It's much sweeter and less balanced than the original, but it's also like half the price, so I accept it. The prices for their cakes were also wildly unbelievably affordable. Staff was very friendly with our indecisiveness. We just beat the lunch crowd on a weekday by arriving before 11:45am.

We visited multiple times during our stay in downtown. Service was terrific with everyone we interacted with being friendly and accommodating. Hot, delicious coffee and cold brew selection. Delectable pastries, sandwiches, cinnamon buns, desserts and breads to choose from. Amazing flavors and selection. Definitely worth a trip in but be prepared to be indecisive over which amazing treat to choose.
It's honestly wild that I hadn't visited La Gourmandine's newest downtown location sooner, especially since I frequent the Lawrenceville spot so often. This location is cozy yet chic, with plenty of indoor seating and a full coffee bar. They even had pastries I don't usually see at the other locations, like the kouign-amann! It was so buttery, soft, and yummy! The space felt surprisingly spacious, and I'd totally come back just to relax with a drink next time. It was well staffed, the line moved quickly, and the overall experience was seamless. A great downtown addition!

Feels like getting a sandwich on the streets of Paris. This cafe carries delightful coffee, baked sweets, savory items. It's a must try. It is nice to meet a friend to catch up.

They have a wonderful selection of pastries, tarts, baguettes, and drink drinks. You order at the register and pick up at the end and there's a little bit of seating inside and out. It's quite quaint. Their black iced coffee is fabulous.

Sigh. I saw that they had ceramic cups, including espresso sized cups. I ordered an espresso for here. And then they handed me a paper cup with a plastic lid. So disappointing! I try so hard not to waste materials with single use cups. I carry a travel cup. If they had only had paper cups, I would have given the barista my travel cup. I explained this, and she poured it into a (cappuccino sized!) ceramic cup for me. The espresso is good, but I prefer the espresso at Yinz, so probably won't come here again. That said, the quiches look really good here... read more
Pastries and sandwiches were AMAZING. We were in town for three days and went twice! Our favorite pastry was the panier choco-pistache - I will be dreaming about it. The hot latte was pretty standard, but still good. All the sandwiches were also fresh and tasty. There is a lot of seating for 2-4 people. It gets very busy around lunchtime. read more

Oh YES!!!! Real French pastry. Fabulous eclairs and cream filled pastries, danish of all kinds. We were on our way to the airport so we picked up some delicious looking freshly made ham and cheese sandwiches on French baguette with butter--can't wait for the plane! Coffee was awesome. staff super friendly and accommodating. Wish we had known about this place a couple of days ago but oh well! Two thumbs up, definitely go here when you are downtown! read more
Many delicious selections are available and freshly made at La Gourmandine. Very friendly staff and efficient service. While the interior is small, there are still plenty of seats available even when we stopped in at peak lunch hours. We're glad we made the trip and will certainly be back the next time we're in Pittsburgh. read more

Super cute French bakery. We ordered a selection of pastries, but my favorites were the little chouquettes! Soft choux pastry balls with pearl sugar. Delightful and perfect with my cafe mocha. The people were very helpful and communicative. Only slightly annoying this was seating. All tables for two and my party of three sat outside because there wasn't enough space inside. I'd totally eat here again next time I'm in Pittsburgh though! read more

I stopped by this morning on my way to work and my coffee was SO SO good! I got an iced caramel latte with oat milk! While I did not get a pastry, there were so many options and they all looked phenomenal. The inside is super charming and a great place to enjoy a coffee or tea. It also is in a great location for walking around the city. Not sure of the parking situation. read more

So glad I stumbled upon this bakery!! I am a sucker for an almond croissant and their Croissant Amandes is perfection! I ordered two so I could have one in the morning and thank goodness I did! I also ordered the Choux à la Crème and it was also a 10/10! Will definitely stop by here again! read more
We wanted a quick coffee after arriving in town. This was the closest to our hotel. I'm a sucker for French bakery, especially chocolate croissants! we got an ice mocha latte and a chocolate croissant to share. It was so good. We enjoyed our treats at the local dog park in the shade and it felt like we could have been in Paris for a short few minutes. To me the perfect croissant is flaky and you get this soft crunch of dark rich chocolate mixed with each bite. The buttery texture melts perfectly each bite. So obviously I am fan of chocolate croissants. read more

The shop itself is nothing to look at, but the food, oh the food. From the Marquise to the croissants, it's all delicious and reasonably priced. There was one weird thing that happened though ... the cashier asked me to grab a pastry from over the glass partition, which I did. Then as I sat down to eat, another employee came over and scolded me for it. I was taken aback, but explained what happened. He then walked off without apologizing and spoke to the cashier. I can only think that the cashier is new, but an apology would have been nice. read more
Our travels took us to Pittsburgh today. We wanted to try a nice breakfast cafe that wasn't a chain and came across Gourmandine! I'm so happy we did. Upon entering, the cafe is small and narrow, and the menu!ambiance that resembles a French cafe.. pretty accurately, I must add! Different Brioche breads, tarts, macaroons, cinnamon rolls, and pastries were spread out for you to see. The staff was very patient while we asked questions and decided. I went with a cinnamon roll, and my wife went with a pastry with chocolate and vanilla cream. Both pastries were on the sweet side but delicious. The portions are generous as well! The coffee was very good to compliment each pastry. Their prices were very reasonable. The staff was very friendly. The food was very tasty! I definitely would recommend trying them if you are in the neighborhood! read more
Where to begin?! I found the warmest little bakery snuggled in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh! A true culinary treat for the senses with not only absolutely delicious baked goods and treats, but creamy quiches, flavorful daily soups and sandwiches and the best lattes outside of Italy! I cannot rave enough about the warm, welcoming and kind staff! Cheery & knowledgeable instead of the worn down nasty cold faces at Starbucks- this bakery is a MUST TRY! I settled on the quiche Lorraine, perfectly flavored and served hot, the choc au pain took me back to my French vacation, layers and layers of light fluffy croissant with a perfectly semi sweet chocolate filling- a dream! I over heard another gentleman say "this is my favorite place in Pittsburgh" and boy do I agree! As an ex-Starbucks employee, I can not rave enough how good my latte was! Props to these guys, they are going above and beyond with spectacular customer service to boot! read more

OMG! I absolutely adore this place, everything I order is divine. The Parisien Sandwich is unbelievable. I am pretty picky about my sandwiches and was very skeptical that something so basic could really be that delicious and WOW - it really is amazing! Their bread is so flavorful and paired with the butter and ham it is just unreal. I cannot recommend enough! All of the breads and pastries have been excellent and the Chouquettes?!?! What?!?! I don't know how those taste like little bites of heaven but they do and you'll want to order like 3 dozen - you're welcome :) read more
I ADORE La Gourmandine. Everything is extremely reasonably priced and delicious. Eclairs: Perfectly chocolaty and soft. Almond Croissant: Flaky and delicious. I love almond pastries. Prosciutto and Cornichon sandwich: My FAVORITE EVER. I wish they always had this available because it is genuinely perfect. Raspberry Macaron: I think the price of this is insanely good for how big, pretty, and tasty it is. I would absolutely recommend anything from this place! read more

The first thing you notice when you enter the bakery is the smell. We were already in a line at 8:58 AM before the bakery opened and I can tell you that the smell was exception and so was the almond croissant. Must try bakery in Pittsburg! read more
