Integrity use to be key when doing long term local business. Regardless if there is little to no competition, attempting to deceive loyal customers which may result in losing them is a faulty business model. SA has very few rivals to Bjorn's and as a result over time they have may become less honest, very inflexible and quite mercenary. If you search their reviews you'll find situations where they may have been unfair or unresponsive with customers depending on their ethnicity. You'll find instances of faithful customers who all of a sudden Bjorn's decides to be less than forthright or thorough with. There are only 55 reviews for them on Yelp. That's not a large sample size. Don't pay attention to the clients who give them praise. Many of them have one-off jobs or smaller projects that Bjorn's can easily resolve. Once you become entrenched with them they start leveraging the complexity of your home's IT and entertainment systems. They will claim that the companies they carry won't allow them to do this or that, but if you delve you'll find they're trying to up-sell you or charge you their ridiculous $200/hr tech service rate which may result in slow work and multiple visits. They aren't a true customization company but more akin to what you would find with electronics and entertainment systems stores. My informed opinion based on dealing with them for many years is this: Caveat Emptor. Again there aren't many options locally, but if you look hard you will find better solutions especially if you require a true custom fit for a complex modern smart household. read more

We've been eyeing Bjorn's for awhile now, but it's been a bit tricky trying to find time to go since they close at 4pm. We finally made it there 10 minutes before closing, and we were very impressed with the customer service! I walked in right at 4pm to meet my husband in the store, and I wasn't stopped by anyone. Instead I was greeted with a smiling clerk even though it was closing time. We were helped by John who was so sweet and patient in answering all of our questions. He even delivered our TV to our home 30 minutes after purchasing it! To add on, he answered our questions about our patio TV even though we weren't buying anything for our patio entertainment. The cherry on top was he gave us the TV mount for our TV for free. The service here was beyond our expectations. We will definitely be shopping here for our home entertainment products from now on! read more

I knew nothing about expensive sound systems or cutting edge video technology at the time, but I caught his enthusiasm for multi-channel audio setups, rear projection screens, and $1,000 Pioneer Elite-branded LaserDisc players. After just a few visits, I was begging my parents to buy me a home theater system and a LaserDisc player. My wish came true and I became the envy of Northwest Crossing Elementary School. Yes, I was the spoiled only child with a 5.1-channel receiver, a massive subwoofer, and a collection of over 200 gory horror movies on LaserDisc. Nearly thirty years later, I continue to be a loyal Bjorn's customer. No one in San Antonio (with the exception of Mr. Dybdahl and his staff, of course) has a longer, more varied history with Bjorn's ("Bjorn's, just Bjorn's") than yours truly. Bjorn's is not cheap, but you get what you pay for*. If you're an audiophile or videophile, just ask yourself this question: would you rather have a $200K THX 10.1 theater setup in your media room or a $200K 2016 Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 in your garage? I'm an audio/videophile and would prefer the Lamborghini, so that was a dumb rhetorical question. The point is that the finer things in life seldom come cheap. Bjorn's is a boutique electronics store for a small but passionate demographic of uber nerds willing to pay top dollar for superior equipment and service. Speaking of service, you won't find a more knowledgeable, passionate sales team in San Antonio. Bjorn and his staff (kudos to Kris and Neil in particular) know their equipment and can explain why a 13.2-channel Denon AVR-X8500H receiver costs $4,000. More importantly, they will never pressure you into buying something outside your budget. The next time you visit Best Buy, try asking your pimple-faced sales associate why the LG C8 4K OLED TV costs more than the LG B8. He'll issue a monosyllabic response before emptying his drool cup. Low-cost home theater systems are de rigueur these days, yet Bjorn's has continued to thrive as an upscale alternative to the audio/video departments at Best Buy, Costco, and Walmart. If you're a serious audio/videophile looking to upgrade your home theater from 1080p to 4K, then skip the dispassionate big-box retailers and drive straight to Bjorn's...just Bjorn's. *That sentence offends my grammarian sensibilities to the core, but I was feeling more descriptive than prescriptive. We had a superb experience. Justin Grant provided very knowledgeable guidance, and was exceedingly patient with our questions and desire to look at numerous models and TV screen sizes. I think he spent an hour with us on our first visit, and we didn't buy anything at that time. He personally attended the installation and spent a lot of time, again, with instructions. When we had a minor malfunction, he rapidly answered my email question with a simple solution that worked immediately. Pricing was competitive with big box stores, without the stoner salesperson. I ordered a LG TV on December 1st, which they said was 1. "Ordered and should be arriving in a week or so" 2. "Not on backordered or anything" and 3. "No one has a order placed ahead of you." They took the money that day, and its now Dec 28th. I have had to call every week since December 1st , because no one calls to update the status. The person I talk to everytime seems annoyed from the moment they pick up the phone and dismissively says "I don't know what to tell you, and I don't know when we will get any". I will wait one more week then cancel. Look , I understand stock and demand , but I don't need someone to sound annoyed everytime I call to check on my purchase. The lack of compassion and communication from a business that is supposed to provide a "premium customer experience" is suprising and dissapointing. I have spent thousands of dollars over the years here and never had this problem. Sliding customer experience is an symptom of poor management. On 4/7/2020 I entered Bjorns to research and purchase a home media center system. I was made to feel unwanted and unvalued as a customer. The salesman Eduardo Perez not once during my 45 min ever introduce himself to me, he never asked me my name and not once present himself as he valued me as a potential customer. In 18 years of living in San Antonio, have I've ever been made to feel like this. I have been doing business with Bjorns since about 1978. We have had various service needs over the years, mostly handled by James who has since retired. We have had Jacob Elsik out to our house several years ago for one problem and today for a different one. He showed up on time, communicated very well to understand the issue. Was very efficient with his time and repairs. He identified a separate issue with our receiver that we were unaware of which ended up needing repairs under warranty. I think I have an decent home theater set up. Kenwood Soveriegn THX receiver, 400 disc Blu Ray changers, Altec Lansing THX speakers, and a Sharp Aquos LED HDTV. Sounds like I spent a fortune? Not really, the Altec speakers retailed in the 90's for $300 each. Thinking back I paid $300 for all 5 on Ebay. Craigslist find Kenwood for $100, changers closeout from Circuit City. One day when one of my rich (and still unknown uncles) passes and leaves me a fortune in Vanilla Wafer manufacturing patents; wait better just count on winning the lottery instead (maybe twice). I will go to Bjorn's without hesitation and spend easily 200k on toys. Wish list items would include that new Denon flagship receiver for $8,000. Heck I might as well go for the gold with a full McIntosh system. If the average surround set up is 7.1 these days, that's $168,000 worth of speakers not including the processor and matching amplifier. I'm sure I can find a good projector and screen for around; well I may have to ask the wife for a budget increase. Fear not, they have other top notch brands for those who don't want their home theater to cost more than a Lamborghini Aventador. I've been shopping here for years including the old location on 410, staff is always friendly and attentive no matter the size of your bank account. Most electronics businesses should send employees here for training on how to talk to a customer. If a customer is just looking around, maybe they're getting ideas. If a customer knows what they want, find out how they did their homework, help them along from there making sure they are working with good information.. I guess that is what really turns me on about Bjorns AV they're about ideas and good information with the latest in audio and video technology. Sometimes the info they've given me has gotten me what I needed somewhere else, sometimes I have bought from them. I recently went to Bjorn's with the thought of upgrading my sound system. Bjorn's has a stellar reputation, and has had for many years. Of course I expect any business to tout the brands that they sell, but while looking at their equipment, I asked the salesperson how they would compare a world famous name in stereo equipment to a piece he was showing me. He shrugged and dismissed my question saying "I don't even know who that is." He lost me right there. I'm not a big reviewer, but my experience with Bjorns felt like one was warranted. I have been waiting months for a simple order and installation to be completed. The delivery and install has come and gone multiple times, with zero outreach from Bjorns each time they've missed it. This is for a few basic items from Sonos that they told me they'd be able to get expedited months ago, but clearly forgot to even order until I asked. We're now months past the lead time where I could've just ordered the items myself. Comparing most other places that happen to sell electronics to Bjorns would be like comparing a Kia to a Ferrari. When it comes to TV's and electronics, I'm normally the go-to guy in virtually all of my social circles. I'm an avid cinephile who just happens to have a toppling 500 blu-ray disc collection which is ever growing. But back to these audio and video nuts. I recently ran into Bjorn himself at a local retailer and we got to talking shop when he gave me his card and graciously offered to give me a personal tour of his shop. Unfortunately, he said he'd be leaving on business soon when I did call him back but he set me up with manager Neil. Although I had to wait a good 20 minutes from our scheduled tour time, Neil was quick to apologize and show me and my g/f all the goods. I primarily wanted to drop in to see their 4K televisions (which were amazing) but soon found myself being impressed by everything else they had to offer. A $200,000 media room was their crowned jewel and it contained a THX 10.1 audio system, an impressive 3D projector with adjustable lens and full blown immersive D-box theater seats with programmable settings. This room reminds you what its like to be mesmerized by technology. It's like the first time you saw an HDTV, simply jaw dropping. Neil spent nearly 2 hours explaining products, showcasing emerging technology, and just exhibiting his overall awesomeness. He never once pressured us into buying anything or showed any aggressive behavior so buyers can let their walls down and just truly enjoy all the cool gadgets they have. We were blown away by his level of customer service so me and my g/f decided that our next electronics purchase would surely be at Bjorns. We initially went to Bjorn's four years ago when we were in the process of building our home. We asked them for wiring throughout the house, and they provided a quote for the work plus the equipment (e.g. television, sound system, etc). We told them at the time we would purchase the equipment separately, as we were able to save thousands of dollars buying it ourselves. After they came to install the wiring, they informed us they could not complete additional work as we did not buy the equipment from them, which forced us to go through another company. Although this left a bad taste, today we went back to inquire about new equipment for our outdoor WiFi. The salesman was rude and seemed annoyed to have to "look up" what we wanted. Bottom line: we received poor communication and poor customer service. We will never return. read more

I had the most incredible retail experience here - so different than what we are now expected to view as "good." We purchased a new sound bar (SONOS - very good system) and speakers to use with our 70" Sharp TV. Bjorn's installers came by and took time to set it up and it was functioning great, until one of the installers noticed that after removing the TV from the wall and then putting it back on the wall that there were some thin, black, horizontal lines at the bottom of the screen. They immediately called their TV technician who was at the house within an hour. After looking at the TV, he said he needed to get it back to his shop to fully evaluate, which he did immediately. We got a call two days later saying that, unfortunately, it was badly damaged and that repairs were not possible since the parts were no longer available. So, it is about this time that most retail places start haggling with you about who caused what, how old the TV was, blah, blah, blah, all designed to make them more money and avoid taking any responsibility. But, wait, not at Bjorn's apparently! All they wanted to know was if I would like a 75" replacement TV or a $1700 store credit. Note that I had gone online to see what the going price would be for my old TV (used) and it was $1700! We elected to take the replacement TV, and that was that. Installers will be out here in two days to do the work. Such a pleasant, unexpected, experience - I'm tempted to go buy something else from them even though I don't need anything. No more Best Buy, etc., for me - prices may be a little higher here, but the professionalism and customer-oriented care are worth anything to me; what a breath of fresh air! read more

Although other raters whine and complain about Bjorn's prices, they are not above retail, so shuddup already! The staff are very professional, educated, attentive, and helpful but never pushy or stuffy. Everything is nicely laid out. There's a small assortment of open-box and used items. I purchased outdoor speakers for my husbands birthday in April. Installer came out and indicated I would have an estimate by Wednesday/Thursday of that week. Had to call on Monday and speak to a manger. Throughout Monday I received 3 different estimates (all different amounts) for the same work. Never received a call to confirm I received or walk me through the estimate. Ended up taking the equipment back and again talked to another manger. Amazing that no one offered to make it right for me the customer. Extremely disappointed in Bjorn's. They are supposed to be know for their service but not on my case. read more

I paid Bjorn's over $90,000 for a whole house control 4 system more than 4 months ago. The job is still incomplete and Bjorn's has not fulfilled what they committed to do. Still one thermostat and the lutron have not been connected. To this day I still have received no orientation or instruction on the system. Their technician, Marc, is terrific. Their sales process is good. Follow up and keep commitments not so good. Definitely would not recommend this company for a high end system. read more

San Antonio's best local electronics store. I went in this afternoon to purchase some upper-end headphones and was greeted by a gentleman named Andy. Although Bjorn's didn't have the exact model I was looking for, Andy didn't try to sell me on another pair. Instead, he told me that I should get what I want and that he'd be happy to order them or if I needed them today that I should go somewhere else. That alone is the best customer service I've ever received in an electronics store, but wait there's more.... Andy realized I was interested in home theater equipment and tv's so he started showing me all of the different rooms and the cool new technology. Even though I told him I was a grad student and couldn't afford anything like that, he still took the time and showed me everything. He was just as excited as I was. I started my interaction via the stores online text communication and was able to get all of my preliminary questions answered in advance of a in store visit. All of this with Ted Rackley who provided clear answers and suggestions based on my amp/receiver, time of music I listen to and room setup. Once in the store Ted again provided great customer service taking time to listen to a few of the speaker brand options again targeting my preferences and budget. Bjorn's takes great pride in both their products and their service. They recently donated a 32" LCD TV to an organization I belong to for us to auction off. I was the lucky winner of the TV! I called Kris at Bjorn's to ask about having them come and install the new TV and haul away my old one. I can't say enough about the service they provided and the help they gave me to hook up, program the remotes, and show me how to use everything! This was my 2nd experience with Bjorn's, as I previously purchased a TV there and got the same great delivery, set up, and explanations! The next time I want to add or upgrade my electronics, I will be back at Bjorn's! I'm sure you can find some of their product line at other places, but you cannot get their service! We bought 3 new tvs from Bjorns and had them wall mounted. We have been more than pleased. Their workmanship was excellent. My husband has hearing issues and so in our family room, they installed earphones that allow my husband to hear the conversation without blasting me out of the room!!! I was very happy with the price!! They did magnificent work for a very fair price. We are not good with electronics. Bjorn's did not try to oversell, rather they helped us find reasonably priced televisions that would serve our needs. I am so glad that we called them and I will use them from now on! read more
