We contracted Matt and his team to do a few projects on our new construction home: 1. Install security cameras utilizing existing pre-wire 2. Install home networking utilizing Ubiquiti equipment (WAPs, Network Switches) 3. Flush Mount TVs in multiple rooms 4. Install security system utilizing exiting pre-wire 5. Install floodlight 6. Install smoke detectors (Nest) Matt's team was great! Everything was installed perfectly and the team spent time to make sure everything was working as we liked. We did encounter some issues, however, Matt had his team work with us to correct them as we encountered them (i.e. faulty pre-wire causing false-positives on the alarm). I have to give a special shout out to Keith. He installed every single TV in the house to perfection. I was really looking forward to a beautiful flush mount install of our TVs in every room (especially the living, game, and media rooms) and he delivered. I love these guys! They came out and hooked up a home mesh network that solved all my internet problems (well, except for AT&T, but that's another story). Came out, set it up in short order and had me on any and all questions I had. While there, I told them about wanting to upgrade my bedroom tv. I found Longhorn Smart Home Solutions on Yelp originally and decided to give them a try. We have had some poor experiences with the large national firms such as ADT and we wanted to find a good local and reputable company who we know will take care of us. These guys are legit and our experience has been 5 star! Longhorn came out and thoroughly reviewed our home which already had an older pre-installed system that never really worked correctly. Longhorn used what they could from the original system and added some very important glass break sensors and motion sensors. We also added outside gate sensors and garage door sensors so everything is monitored throughout our home an yard. I can now use my mobile phone to turn on and off my alarm and the system is touch screen and very responsive. Most alarms that we have had over the past 5 years felt very low-tech and I was happy to see that Longhorn uses top grade products. I worked directly with Matt who was great to work with and extremely knowledgeable about the services they offer. Colin was our installer and understood all of the technical dynamics around ensuring the system was functioning perfectly. He made sure everything was working properly and explained to my wife and I how to use it. We were very pleased with the installation and we had a few questions afterwards and Matt immediately responded. The pricing seemed very fair and my family and I feel secure with the new system. Update: It is coming up on two years since getting my alarm system installed. Since then I have tripped the alarm a few times myself by forgetting to disarm it when opening the garage door (it automatically triggers even when the STAY is armed), but that is part of learning to live with having protection. I also had some minor issues with the sync being off a bit between my thermostat and the main unit, the sync with my phone app, and the batteries running down in my door lock, but Longhorn took my calls and fixed whatever issues I had over the phone or came by my house to fix it. They were quick to respond and even took my calls during weekends and after normal business hours, which was unexpected but greatly appreciated. Other than those minor issues, they have excellent service, easy auto draft payments, and the control with the phone app have been great. I have also recommended Longhorn to my family and friends and have heard great things from them as well, which is great because no one wants to hear anything negative about a personal recommendation. Many security companies over-promise and under-deliver. What you think is full coverage you only find out after stuck in a contract is missing large portions of my home's windows! Even though they had sensors, they weren't even added to the system! That wasn't the case with Longhorn. They carefully went over everything, making sure all of my sensors worked and even adding a few extras on windows that weren't included in my original system or were no longer working. They also added a cool, keyless entry doorlock so that I could stop worrying having keys for friends. I also got an upgraded camera system and unlike other 'security' cameras, these haven't gone down once! Its hard to find a company to trust with something as important as your family's safety. We looked around for a few weeks and had at least 4 local companies come out to do an install quote. You can learn a lot about a company by meeting the people they send out to represent them. Longhorn was the only company that had a representative that gave me info before i had to ask- and the only one company who knew the answers to the the questions of the top of their head! Matt also did not try to shove offers into our laps to get us to sign up. He simply provided all of the important info about Longhorn smart home that he thought we should know and answered our plethora of questions. We were continually having connectivity issues through the Pulse system. Customer service and technical service were of no help.
