Ok, I hate to only give the Salvation Army only three stars but... I called them recently to do a…read morepick up on a bunch of furniture and other items I no longer wanted or needed. The date and place was set up over the course of two different phone calls with a very polite gentleman. Now fast forward to the actual day: I didn't know what time they would show because as it was explained to me, they would have other pick ups and did not want to guarantee a time. That's fine with me. But when the guys did come over, they completely had no clue as to who was involved or what was going on. I opened the door to the one who knocked (I didn't see the other guy downstairs) and he had no introduction, nothing to say. He just stood there with a piece of paper in his hand. I asked him if he was here from the Salvation Army and he said 'Uh... yeah." Then the other guy downstairs said "Yeah, we're here to pick up. Is this the right address?" When I confirmed, I showed them where all the furniture was gathered into my living room. They both came in and looked and just seemed so lost (there was a LOT of dead air). I asked, "Don't you have a list of the items? When I called to make the arrangements for pick up, the guy on the phone took down a list of items." They just looked at me again and said, "Uh... yeah." I was definitely starting to lose faith in the whole process. Although I will say this, that once all of that confusion was taken out of the equation, and they moved all that crap outta my place, I was relieved. It didn't take them long at all. So my three stars - to the gentleman on the phone and the fact that it went quick after said confusion...

This is in regards to their pick up service…read more I called to first ask if they wanted/needed the items in question. I spoke to two different gentlemen that assured me this was exactly the kind of items they want. So, I scheduled a pick up - where you have no idea when they will show up that day unless you call the day of schedule. And, even then, when you call on the day of the schedule, they will still only commit to a three hour window. Whatever, I just wanted the stuff gone. Fast forward to the day of pick up. The guys arrive. Don't introduce themselves, but it is hard to miss the SA truck in the background. So, I tell them that it's already in the garage. The minute the door opens - the older guy starts dissing my stuff! Look at the ding mark. This thing is too old, etc. The end game? THEY REFUSED TO TAKE IT. After I called to make sure. And then, to really make my day, I realized after they left that the documentation that were the ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS to the TV that they refused to take - they TOOK! SO, they took my documents, but not my working TV. I think my charity of choice has changed. Not impressed. ALL IN ALL - I DO NOT Recommend their Pick up Service. ______________UPDATE_________________________ Salvation Army contacted me (after I sent an e-mail) to pick it up. They apologized via phone and via e-mail. I respect that. Thus, I've upped the rating to a 3 of 5. _____________2nd UPDATE___________________________ The SAME guys arrived to pick up the items. Talk about uncomfortable. All in all, it's gone; however, it has definitely left a negative feeling in my mouth. All I wanted to do was give away a working HDTV to someone that could use it. It would have been easier and less hassle to put it out with the curbside collection that arrives once a year. All in all - I still can't recommend.

A seemingly impossible task for someone who has never hung a TV before and doesn't understand the mechanics of it. Add to that, poor eyesight, and it's better just to get someone else to do it for you. I did a search on Yelp and started a conversation with three companies. Texas Media Experts was the first to respond (at 11:30 at night!). One of the other businesses had no ratings on Yelp so I deleted that one, and the third one wanted to send out two guys and charge me $200 (they took almost 24 hours to respond). Between text messaging and the conversation on Yelp, they managed to schedule me in today, and they sent out one (cute) guy and only charged me $120. He helped me plug my TV back in, removed a TV and a mount from the wall in another bedroom, and also showed me how to plug in my VCR. I would recommend them to anyone in the New Braunfels area.

They steered me in the right direction. Did a fantastic job installing my projector and two additional sets of speakers as well as rewiring speakers that were incorrectly wired by the previous owner. The cleaned up the workspace afterwards and organized the area. I also sourced some components from them, and they didn't try to upsell anything. They gave me what I wanted and ensured my system was "right-sized" rather than overloading my room with equipment I could not take advantage of. Friendly service. Highly recommend.
