Made an appointment, showed up on time, and went through a quick check in. They even offered to bring us to the beach! The quick tutorial on how to ride an ATV was short and simple, then off we went! I definitely recommend BJs for atv rentals! We had a 9am reservation that I made only 2 days prior. One of the staff members were kind enough to email be about some new atvs that weren't yet advertised on their site (kynco's - fully automatic) because I tried to rent the Yamaha 125s to avoid from having to deal with a manual. The 125s are only for those 110lbs or less sooooo yea. Anywho, we arrived 30min before 9 and there was no line whatsoever at the office. The office staff were very friendly and informative. We even rented helmets with a gopro mount! Once we got down to the beach, our transport (white suburban) picked us up in about 10 min and drove us over to where they set up their trailer. The guy who picked us up was a young dude, very friendly and informative with the training session before the riding began. Our time started once our training was up (930) so we were sure to have a full 2 hours. My atv ended up not working anymore an hour and a half into it so we called for help. They came about 7 min later and brought us a new atv. Overall a great experience! read more

Overall, renting from BJ's was a positive experience. This week (Aug 7) I rented 4 ATV's for my family & my Buddy rented 3 for his. (Kids are all teenagers). Brianna at the counter (the owner's daughter) seemed very nice, professional and accommodating. We had never rented these things before so we needed to listen well to the instructions. I was concerned about dangers involved. We got stuck a few times in the dunes which resulted in us returning the ATV's a bit late. We were in a hurry getting back and we all drove fast. I called the office to let them know we were going to be a bit late. The office lady that answered (not Brianna) was quite useless & just warned me that we were going to be charged extra for each 15 minutes late. Hence we rushed. My teenage daughter hit a hole & flipped the ATV on the way back & tumbled, breaking her collarbone. She was in shock & the pain did not kick in until later. I believe the helmet was a bit big and dug into her collarbone when she fell. Make sure you get the smallest size helmet that fits comfortably. Mike at the site was really nice not to charge us for being late and bending the handle bars & pointed us in the direction of the nearest Urgent Care. He has good communication skills to be the guy at the site working with before & after customers. Ride at your own risk, stop at the top, and follow your kids like freaking glue because they will get stuck and they will need you. You will be given a red colored document that says "ATV Riding Rules". Take your time to read it WITH your kids. Changing gears and getting the ATV into neutral is essential - so cover it off with your kids BEFORE they head to the dunes. Again Brianna & Mike - good job and my daughter is recuperating fine. Loved my experience at BJ's last weekend. My boyfriend and I rented two Honda 250's. I was pretty nervous to try the ATVs because it was my first time. But once we went out and got the hang of it, it was so much fun! I did get into a bit of a rut at the end trying to ride up a steep sand dune, which left the ATV almost flipped over on its side. The guys at BJ's were really great about driving out to come pick me up and help us get the ATV back. The attitude of the staff here is awesome and I am so so glad we tried out this adventure! read more

Rented from BJ's a few months ago. This was the first time me and my buddies ever rented ATV's. The staff was helpful and eager to help. Right before we took off onto the dunes one of the employees gave us a quick tutorial and we were off. Every 2 hours you have to gas up at pole 2. Rental process was fast & easy. Honda 250EX $70 for 2 hours. It was October, so no need to make a reservation and they didn't have their trailers set up as not busy time of year. We drove down to the beach $5 for beach access, the guy met us down there with our quads. Gave us detailed instructions on how to operate it, where to go and the safety what not to dos when your on the dunes. Also gave us a $$ consequences if we broke anything. My husband ened up flipping his quad down hill and broke his flag. Had to pay $5 repair fee. Other than that just very minor injuries for us first timers and best 2 hours of our lives. Put this activity on your bucket list of things to do before you kick the bucket! BJs is the place. read more

Friendly staff... Easy to work with and make reservations, etc. Once we got to their store, they quickly took care of our group of 11. Once we got to the beach and on our atv's, the instructor was friendly (but not too thorough) in explaining how to operate. They let us go and two of my friends took the first 30 minutes to figure out really how to change gears, etc. Nonetheless, they were friendly, their atv's worked great, and helpful at the end when our personal truck got stuck in the sand... Useful to know that the further back in the dunes you go, the trickier it will be to get back out since the hills are steeper and the sand is less compact. read more

I went on my birthday and had a blast! We checked in without any reservations and we were quickly taken care of. We drove over to the beach to meet with someone to take us to where the ATVs are. They gave us a quick tutorial then we were on our way. This has to be the most beautiful scene I've seen in awhile! The dunes can vary in size so be careful before going uphill and make sure you look where you're going. It was bit scary and got stuck a couple of times but it was really fun. SUPER FUN !! I went here for my boyfriend birthday and it was soooo much fun. This was both our first time and it was so easy riding the atv than I thought. My boyfriend got stuck in the sand once, lol but we got it out ourselves by lifting up the back of the atv. We had no problem finding street parking. The office were we checked in and beach is not in the same location, it's about a mile away drive but it's not bad. Check in on yelp to get free gas !! BJ's ATV Rental's was easily accessible with reasonable prices. They have their own shuttle that takes you to the sand dune's so you don't have to walk far. Only problem is competing with others to get a parking spot close to the shuttle pickup/dropoff site. I wish they gave a more understandable/in detail map to use, with symbols for advanced drivers, beginners, jumps, bowls and so on, so you wouldn't be wasting your time driving in circles searching for something to see, or wasting your time stuck in a bowl that you didn't know how to get out of. Other than that would rent from them again. read more

This place is a crap. Made a reservation and never got the confirmation. Waited for almost an hour to get to the front of the line and the guy was so rude that he was saying he will only take the paid reservations at that time. Very disappointed with their service and delays. There was another lady who also did not pay but had a reservation was accepted by those days. These ppl are crazy. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Go to some other place if you can. It's definitely not worth the wait and I would say go for other less popular rentals. I love the prices for atving down here! They just ask for a deposit and you'll get it back after you're done. They also give you like a $5 gas discount off your total if you check in on Yelp. The older lady that assisted us was very nice and very informative. I came down here with my girlfriend and we had a blast!!! Only thing I don't really like about this place is that if your atv stops or doesn't work for some reason when you're out on the beach you have to wait and call them to come out to assist you or bring you another atv. I don't like this because they do not give you back the time that you have wasted by waiting for them to come rescue you. Overall it's a good company to rent from because you don't need your atv license either!!!! I recommend coming here!! Fair prices and pretty good customer service. Would've given this business 5 stars but had a couple mishaps . I don't know the name of the young lady that works there but she looks to be the youngest one there. Me and my family , total of 7 , came out to Grover beach for my moms birthday weekend . She gives us the break down of the prices, and we all pay separately . Her explaining the fees was confusing in itself but whatever . She lets me know that my total cost would be $182. I give her $100 in cash for deposit and the rest on my card. She takes my card to the machine & she looks very confused. She comes back and there's $86 charged to my card. I stopped and ask to confirm that it was only supposed to be $82 & not $86. I'm assuming she didn't think I was going to catch it. She then asked her fellow coworker how to refund me $4 because the card machine was asking too many questions and she just entered anything. Huh ? That's not something you say in front of a customer. So she swipes my card again to refund my $4. We go out ATV riding , had a good time and we're headed back. When we arrived back to the office , there's a middle eastern family with about 10 people. I'm not there but 5 mins and she yells at them, " I don't know how many times I have to say it for YOU people to understand, but everyone needs to sign the paper." Me and my family were completely shocked that she had the audacity to talk to them that way. Had I heard this before paying, I would've taken my money elsewhere. To wrap it up, employees at the beach were very cool and very helpful but the young lady at the office , could definitely use a class or two on how to treat customers with respect. read more

I came with my boyfriend on a Monday with no reservations. We got there around 1 and there was a really nice lady at the front desk who helped us get ready. It was about $155 for the both of us with the free gas Yelp check in! From the store you drive to an area right by the beach where someone from BJs comes and takes you to their trailer. Everyone at the trailer teaching us was really sweet and patient! The guy driving us back and forth was also really nice! I didn't have any issues with my ATV. My boyfriend's ATV died a couple times, but after calling them once we learned how to fix the problem and didn't have any further issues. I highly recommend them! Everyone was really awesome and we both had a lot of fun. If I come back, definitely renting from BJs again! read more

great first time experience.. i surprised my bf here for his bday and told him just go to sleep for our 3-4 hour trip... i went on yelp to find this locations and read some of the yelps and choose from there.. i reserved a spot and came over... fairly easy steps but i got lost... i was late for the review class on safety but they were super nice and give us a private lesson... really really nice of them to accommadate us... they told us how to operate and situations to avoid.. lots of funny stories to go along with it.. AND STICK FIGURE VISUALS.. haha.. i think they noticed the glaze over my eyes when they were talking too much.. i give off that lost look alot wear sunscreen and beware of gettings stuck.. i had to lift the atv outta the sand so many times... it was overall fun and their speeches were informative.. i would love to go again :D read more
