While there were circumstances that didn't allow us from having more than 20 minutes out on the ATV, BJ's did everything to try and make the situation better. We were supposed to ride from 9-10 AM, but with the creek being up, we didn't get started until 10:30. BJ's guy at the beach told us we could keep it out until noon for the inconvenience, but we had reservations at 11:15 to horseback ride. We really appreciated the offer, however. As for their equipment, we had no issues and it seemed in good condition. We will definitely be back to see y'all on our next trip out! read more

After watching the first season of Buckwild on MTV and wanting to fully experience the redneck lifestyle, my family and I loaded up the kidnapper van and headed to Pismo Beach. After a hearty American breakfast at McDonalds we made it to our destination and were eventually strapped into helmets with the aroma of slave labor. A young buck probably named Tyler or Dale gave us basic operating instructions while fertilizing the sand with Copenhagen. Then we were off! Most of us enjoyed the two hours of American Freedom while Cactus TJ enjoyed the drive-thru port-o-potty. A local confederate pocketed the $5.00 for a broken flag. Merika! read more

We went to BJs on Saturday March 22, we were in a group of 8. Service was great, the girls in the group got the 250 and the guys 400, I recommend the 250 if your not very experienced. We tried to arrive about 30 minutes before our appointment to allow time to check in, although a few people in our group were late the staff got us in and out very quickly. It was my first time but I was very comfortable riding after I was giving instructions and some tips by the staff. We parked at the beach entrance and took the shuttle to pick up our ATVs. Unless you have all wheel drive I would recommend not driving onto the beach, on our way back we saw a few cars struggling to drive out of the sand. Overall, we all enjoyed our experience and plan on coming back next month. read more

Okay so this review is long over due.... My first time renting from BJ's was back in 2012 and since then I have came back about 4-5 times and never had an issue. The staff is super friendly, knowledgeable, professional and there atv's are in good condition.This place is great and if your looking to rent some atv's I highly recommend them! Best place to get your ATV rentals! The checkin was super quick and easy. The employees are friendly and knowledgable. When we were done with our ride our car got stuck in the sand and Noah and his friends/coworkers dug us out and let me tell you it wasn't that easy! Five starts for sure. read more

5 stars because of Kate!!! I called and reserved 3 atvs for 11:30. We arrived at 11:45 and checkin was smooth. Kate was super helpful and very pleasant. We were directed to park our car near the beach and walk down the ramp to the water to wait for the shuttle. The shuttle driver was nice and brought us over to the atvs near the dunes. We checked in and got atv instructions from another awesome employee. 2 hours went by quick! Atvs checked out fine. We were shuttled back to beach entrance. Drove back to the office to return helmet. When we got back, it was crazy busy! About 20 people in the tiny room. Returning the helmet and deposit was no issue. The only issue I had all day was I forgot to show my yelp checkin reward! So the situation: it's super busy and I'd like to ask if I could still get the discount eventhough all transactions have already been completed. Kate allowed me to go to the other counter, asked for the card that made the payment, and then applied a $10 refund! Talk about an amazing experience! Kate was so pleasant during the entire madness of all the folks there and quickly helping to apply this discount! tl;dr - best all around customer service experience I've had! Highly recommended! BJ's owner is super dope, laid back & chill the two times we've gone ATVing.. The first time around.. she didn't trip that we exceeded the 2 hours we paid for.. second time, she hooked it up with some gloves to use & didn't mind me calling in 10 minutes before my planned rental to let her know we were running late & to push back our reservation on their busiest day of the year, Fourth of July. Cracks jokes, always smiling with cigarette in hand. Their instructors are funny & make sure you know the rules & that you know how to operate their ATVs. They charge $70 for 2 hours for their Honda 400EX.. If you plan on hitting the dunes with an ATV & need someplace to rent it from, BJs should be your top choice. read more

What a great experience for the entire family! The rental place is very easy to find and renting is hassle free. The staff is very helpful and made sure our helmets fit perfectly. You have a choice of either driving your own car to the dunes (where the ATVs are) or you can park just outside of the beach and they'll pick you up and take you to the dunes themselves (free). We decided to get picked up at the beach. Single ATV is $82 while a 4 seater ATV is $345 for 2 hours. I've never done anything like this, so I didn't know what to expect, but this place more than exceeded my expectations! It was overwhelmingly huge! I was thinking that we would ride in a track like go kart. NOPE! Once you reach the actual dunes, it's as if you're in another planet! It's just hills and hills of sand...everywhere. We definitely got lost, but thankfully found our way back. We kept getting stuck in the sand because 1) we didn't build enough speed and 2) their ATVs were a little outdated. The other ATVs from a different rental place looked newer and more powerful. Regardless, we still had fun and it was a great experience to get stuck on the sand! ATVing on the sand dunes was an awesome experience at an affordable price. Not much instruction on how to ride or get out of a sticky situation, but that can be a good and/or bad thing. You can always just call them if you get stuck and they'll come out to you and bail you out. read more

We did the 4 person ATV on a gorgeous day and I would totally recommend BJ's if you are gonna do the dunes in Pismo. Super friendly, funny, and knowledgable staff. Great equipment. Can't say enough about the office and field staff. So personable, it makes the the whole renting process enjoyable. They make sure that you will have one of the best times of your life... this place was pretty cool. they gave us a good deal since we had so many people with us.. i was kinda scared because i never rode ATVs before and the guy was giving us directions right before, but i couldn't hear him because of all the loud engine noises. lucky for me, i figured it out and jus' winged it as i rode along. they gave us ample time with the ATVs. just make sure you don't wreck it because you WILL have to pay. read more

These people were really helpful and informative. They can bend the wire a lil bit here and there depending how busy they are. They're also really good at getting cars out of the sand if they happen to get stuck. Took a matter of simple instructions and the car was saved in a matter of minutes with the help of some manpower of course. We were a group of 4 and went around thanksgiving time, initially all started well with quick check in and their service for taking you to the beach is convenient. However once we got the atvs, 2 of us had problems and couldn't get accustomed to the atv. One person rode only for 15 mins and other gave up after an hour. When we went back to the office and asked if they could charge limited amount for 2 persons, they flatly refused. I know its 2 hr minimum, but I would have expected the office guys to be more understanding about the situation. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone due to lack of compassionate customer service. read more

Great Service..the Lady at the counter is ridiculously hilarious. Easy directions, extra friendly service..I will be back. We had a group of 4 girls who had no idea what we were getting ourselves into but that all changed once we got to the Dunes. We had an amazing time. We didn't break our flags and NO we weren't riding slow either. We got lucky because we got to break in the new helmets. Perfect Sunday along the beautiful Pismo Beach Coast. There are other rental places but I doubt they are as patient and kind as BJ''s. The two hours flew by but it was plenty for newbies. Oh yea we took the shuttle service from the beach to the Dunes in their awesome van and it was free...everything was perfect! read more

After reading reviews on the different rentals on offer for Oceano Dunes, I settled on BJ's after reading the good reviews that others wrote, and the fact that they will take a credit card imprint as a deposit, as I hate carrying around wads of cash, especially when camping. Service was super-friendly at their shop and on the beach where we picked up the quads. Had a blast for a good two hours, and they even gave us a few extra minutes just because. Had no major equipment problems and knew how to get around any we did have, thanks to the thorough pre-ride instructions given to us before we set off. Specifically, the one time that the engine stalled with the quad stuck in gear, we had to rock it a little to be able to shift it back down to neutral so that we could start it again. As others reported, one of us managed to break off the flag, but they just write it off and don't give you any grief as long as you don't do anything you're not supposed to. Contrast this with other sites that demand cash deposits, automatically fine you if you roll over, or just seem to have a snotty attitude. I'll definitely rent from BJ's again if I make it back up this way. One caveat, my Garmin GPS indicated that this was actually located right up by the entrance to the beach, when it's actually before you cross the railroad tracks. read more

Fun, get two atvs one for your lover and the other for yourself the reason why I have it a 4 star was the miscommunication I had with the front desk lady I thought she told us to drive our car down the hill (which I might add got us stuck and a great Samaritan had to pulls us out of the sand) but apparently a nice man picks up the riders at the adjacent hill which conveniently holds a parking lot. read more

Awesome experience and staff! I'd go back for another rental. The rental center is off the beach. You drive towards the pickup spot so they can drive you to where you ATV. I was concerned that we'd get lost, but the directions were pretty straightforward. Many rentals available. Quick fyi intro prior to riding the ATVs and you're set. I had an amazing time! read more

Bjs ATV rental was definitely the nicest atv rental I've been too! It was Sydney's first day and she was awesome and Mindy was her super and helped out a lot! They were nice enough to give us a discount for being in a group and honestly the experience was sooo much fun! Definitely have to be careful in the dunes but it was very worth it! All the associates were nice from the people in the shop to the guys out on the beach with the ATV's! Everyone was so helpful and I guess living in a beautiful place like pismo really does lifts spirits. such a friendly town! We were 10 people and 2 of them were sharing the atv making it total 9 atvs to be rented, still they gave us the discount of 10% (Group of 10 or more). They also gave a good deal for my nephew and he also enjoyed. The atv was in good condition except one of them. Overall it was a wonderful experience to visit pismo beach and drive bjs atvs. I would recommend to go for it. Cheers !!! read more

Excellent place to rent dune vehicles! Good people. Good equipment. Good prices. Terrific experience. Been going here for years. Practice safety and you will have a great time. If not, you will get hurt. It happens every year where people don't listen and try their Evil Kanevil tricks. I saw someone get put on a gurney this past weekend. Our first time riding ATVs and it was so much fun! We rented through BJ's (who are the first rental company here in Pismo for trivia knowledge). My hubby and I reserved over the phone about a week before our trip, and the woman who spoke to my hubby was super helpful. Day of our trip, the check in process was easy: you go to the main office first to check in and get helmets & goggles, drove to the beach and parked off Pier Ave, and waited for our shuttle. Our shuttle driver was super sweet and helpful, giving us some more tips for riding. Once at the actual site to get the ATVs, the guys there gave us a quick tutorial on how to operate the vehicles. They went super fast and I was a little confused in the beginning, which adds to why I'm giving 4 stars. I mean, we obviously asked questions and had them go over it again but, come on, for first timers go a little slower with the instructions please. All in all, my hubby and I had a great time in the dunes once we got the hang of it. I'd recommend this place, and we'll definitely be coming back. read more
