The number one reason why I absolutely love BJ's is their potato skins. I am absolutely obsessed with potatoes and any variation of cheese fries with bacon, sour cream, and green onions. BJ's has by far the best ones. Happy hour is every day before 7 pm and ONLY in the cocktail area. Basically, if you come before 7 pm you get 50% off appetizers, $3 wines, and a variety of other deals. The best day to come is on Tuesdays before 7 pm. Why is that, you ask? Because you get 50% off appetizers PLUS your drink deals PLUS $3 pizookies. You absolutely can't go wrong with their cookies and cream pizookie. Like, if you don't get the oreo one, did you even go to BJ's??? My friend and I came one time for happy hour and each got a glass of wine, split 2 appetizers (which are HUGE by the way), AND a pizookie and each paid less than $10. WHAT. Where else can you get that amount of food, wine and dessert for that price? I'll tell you: nowhere. Favorite appetizers: crispy potato skins (of course), bone-in buffalo wings, and mozzarella sticks. The avocado egg-rolls were just ok. All of the appetizers come in huge portions so are definitely share-able, but the nacho one is the largest of them all. If you order that, be prepared for it to take up about half the table. If you are a regular like me, you should also sign up for the rewards. Once you reach a certain amount of points you get $10 off, plus any deals they are offering emailed to you. Something I just noticed today is that they are doing a $6 take-home entree deal (select entrees only) with a minimum $9.95 food purchase. So if you want lunch or something for the next day it's a total steal!! At BJ's, you can eat WELL on a budget. In case you can't tell, I'm obsessed but I don't care. 10/10 recommend!! read more

Had a great lunch with my mom yesterday in Gainsville. This BUs is right next to the Oaks Mall, right off I 75. Easy in and easy out. Great service from our waitress, Karen. She is a wonderful server. Started off the meal with a local craft beer - Swamphead Stumpknocker.....loved it!! The brewery is in Williston, just down the road. I had the bacon guacamole burger. Really good. Huge burger. Fries were good too. My mom had a cheeseburger and fries. My wife had a noodle dish. Everyone was happy with their meals. This was my first trip to a BJs. I liked this place. We had heard mixed reviews about it, so we were undecided until today. We ordered the avocado egg rolls which were too spicy for me--but I am definitely a spice wimp. My husband ordered the southern comfort chicken sandwich after hearing that the Nashville chicken was very spicy. He liked his sandwich which came with fries. I ordered the mozzarella and tomato salad with the California flat bread. Excellent choices. Fresh and full of flavor. A few months ago it made me sad to have to give one of my favorite restaurants a bad rating, the food was good as always but the server we got very poor..the manager was nice enough to get with me and I told him why the rating was bad. I love this restaurant and always order out. Today in specific I came with my friend to eat in, and we sat at the booth in the bar. It was a busy night, and the food took a while. Turns out there was a possible lost ticket, and our server, Neda, really went out of her way to advocate for us and sincerely apologized for the delay. She even spoke to her manager, Kevin, in concern, and they both rectified the situation so kindly and respectfully. Honestly, I'm sad to be writing this review. I've been here with family, friends, and just my wife, and this evening was just simply terrible. We sat outside because we have a 1-year-old that we don't want disturbing other guests, and that little patio is decently nice. The three other times we came, we did the same thing for food as this time: go for the Happy Hour and appetizers, and get a spread of soul food. What has never happened is what happened tonight, where we waited for 55 minutes for our food, my father in law's chili came randomly in the middle of the wait, and our drinks were never full. When the food did come, half the pizzas were cold, the fries were cold and chewy, and there were more jalapeños than nachos on the plate. I'm not sure what it was that went wrong today, but we certainly don't want to come back for a while. We're sad, cause happy hour is something we don't often get time for, so this was particularly disappointing. We hope this was just a one time thing. read more

We went during happy hour, where they had half-price appetizers, but I still didn't think the food was worth it. Food: 2/5 We ordered the ribs, avocado egg rolls, potstickers, calamari, and a double chocolate pizookie. The ribs were extremely dry and I needed extra BBQ sauce in order for me to eat them. The potstickers were edible, but they honestly tasted like ones you can buy in the frozen section of a grocery store. I DO NOT recommend the avocado egg rolls -- don't get me wrong because I LOVE avocados, but these egg rolls do a major disservice to avocado lovers like me. They tasted sour and bland at the same time. The calamari was the only appetizer that I did somewhat enjoy, but I definitely have had better calamari at different restaurants such as Bahama Breeze and Carrabba's, but to each their own. And well, you cannot go wrong with a pizookie because who doesn't love a hot gooey cookie with ice cream on top? Party of two - We waited at least ten minutes before getting up to ask an employee if a waiter/waitress could come to our table (the staff working in our section made no eye contact or acknowledged us). Manager showed up and took our order with apologies. Felt like forever before our spinach and artichoke dip arrived but it tasted good. We had to ask for silverware when main food arrived. Broccoli cheddar soup was horrible and wedge salad was tasteless, very small & had hardly any bacon. Had to wait for drinks to be refilled. We have been to BJ's multiple times and have always had terrible service from the wait staff. Always waiting a long period of time to be seated, order drinks or food, or waiting for a waiter to come back for us to ask for something we need. The food is mediocre except for a few items such as the tri-tip. The craft beers/sodas are good. It can get kind of loud in here at times. First off the place is dirty things have evident dust on it and when we were seated the other day the disgusting host put our menu on top of the dirty table they didn't wipe off as if to hide it. On top of that there's a bozo standing there at the front and another guy just grabbing random ppl not going in order of who got there to a table. They seated someone in front of us who was there after us it was just me my fiancé and our baby the other was a couple as well and they claim they were trying to find a table to fit our baby which was just an excuse because they messed up. Anyways most the food is good when it doesn't have hair in it. My fiancé got a calamari appetizer which had hair and his full rack of ribs had hair as well...! Disgusting. The wings are good so is the baked ziti. The cheeseburger I got however was very bland and also I said medium well it was well and dry. Anyways I won't be coming back anymore after the last time the service was awful as well she came and checked on us once and wasn't even the one to bring out the food. She also seemed annoyed giving looks towards our baby when he was babbling. She sucked and just kept ignoring us but went to other tables. DJ's reminds me of a cross between Hop's and a sports bar. The food is just a little bit better than at most sports bars, but the price is jacked up. They ask your name and how many are in your party, even if you do not have to wait for a table, which is not needed. Then, you are escorted to your table in a sea of seating dividers, then surrounded by televisions and handed a 20 page menu. Most of the menu consists of alcohol and you have to check every page to see all of the food they offer. Like most places, you are expected to order immediately. So you basically have to have it memorized. Like Hop's they have house made (company made) root beer, but at least it is free refill. My main attraction was their new small plates menu which ranged from $3.00-$4.00, which was on a photo menu on the table. We ordered the Mac and Cheese with bacon (bland and runny), the Caprese style salad (delish!) with balsamic reduction, and the Spinach Stuffed Mushroom caps (will pass next time, lacking in texture and flavor). My Mom loves their Grilled Salmon, which is like $17.99 for a small rib of salmon on a plate of mayo smear. You can get something much better and classier at Bonefish for a dollar less, if you are into these chain style places. I had the Chinese Chicken Salad with citrus dressing, omitted the fried wontons, it was very filling covered in grilled chicken and actually worth the $10.50 paid for it. We had to order a Pizooki, it is a mushy dessert cookie in a small pizza style pan with ice cream on top. It was squishy and expensive. Still debating if we should give them another try. My friend and I went to BJs tonight and we have made this place part of our weekly routine for awhile now. However, today we were disappointed in the service. I am aware that it was probably not the waitresses' fault as she is probably being told what to do by someone hire up. Anyway, we ordered appetizers, entrees, and desserts and weren't just there for a quick meal. When we received our food, the waitress informed us that they were out of silverware and gave us plastic silverware. She left and we asked her for napkins which she brought over (regular napkins not cloth ones). We would have been okay if everyone had received plastic utensils showing that they really did run out, but the people next to us were seating just after us and got their meal not long after. However, they and everyone after got silverware and cloth napkins. We looked around the entire restaurant and saw not one other table with plastic utensils. This is customer discrimination and unacceptable. We really enjoyed having this as our weekly dinner spot, but I guess we'll have to find a new one. read more

Happy Hour was a great experience with delicious signature cocktails and appetizers that were discounted. I enjoyed everything. The wedge salad was refreshing and crispy. This is my second BJ's restaurant visit. I've never had a bad experience with it (maybe only during their busy hours, but that's every restaurant). I see lots of three and four stars, and I do question them sometimes. However I must admit that I've been ordering the same food for about two years now. I absolutely love their Asian Chopped Salad, primarily because of its low calories, but also because it's satisfying and delicious. I also occasionally order their pizzooki (recently found out it's a pizza+cookie combination). I love their triple chocolate one, though literally every flavor is good, especially their monkey bread. Soggy, gummy, tasteless. Was that meat? This proves that looks can be very deceiving. The pizza looked very good but it did not taste good at all. At one bite, my sister had one bite, we put the slices back in the box and are going to have to throw away the whole pizza. The delivery person put the box on the ground outside the door. He/she didn't knock on the door to let us know it was there. The ants would have enjoyed this I'm sure but it's not for human consumption. Perhaps we should not have picked it up. went on a thursday so i was able to get the tri tip entree, 2 signature sides, and a pizookie for $19; pretty fair pricing! the tri tip was cooked medium rare (to my liking) however, the meat was VERY chewy-- to the point where it was like chewing rubber. the sides were okay-- mashed potatoes were seasoned well but a little dry and the garlic-roasted vegetables were salty. the people i went with got the clam chowder as their side and it was delicious so i'd recommend that! i was also able to try the kickin chicken sandwich which was amazing; it came with two sides (coleslaw & fries)-- the size of the chicken was massive & the flavors of the sauces, toppings, & coleslaw made it quite delicious! the fries were also very fresh-- can't go wrong with fries! lastly, we ended the night with strawberry shortcake pizookie which was a heavensent blend of flavors BUT a little TOO sweet for my liking (granted its a sugar cookie and icecream haha). overall, the staff was very attentive to our needs; the service was quick & our dining experience was overall enjoyable :) the restaurant itself is quite spacious with plenty of seating. read more

I am updating my rating to 4 stars because I recently visited BJ's and had the BEST thing I've ever ordered, which was the Chimichurri chicken with sweet potato fries. If you had given me that food in a blind taste test, you could not have convinced me it was from a chain restaurant. It was SO good. The grilled chicken was perfectly moist and seasoned and the chimichurri sauce was to DIE FOR. The sweet potato fries were perfectly crisp and salty. YUM. All for $13.99 I believe. Our waiter also did a great job! Previous Review: I enjoy BJs for a couple of reasons - pizookies and happy hour. It's a chain, so you kind of know what to expect, but they do have good deals. My husband and I shared 2 apps and a mini 4" pizza and we had food left over. Before 7pm the apps and 4" deep dish pizzas are half off! The service was good and we had a good time! We love their pizzas but not enough after today. We tried to order food during the COVID stay at home order and won't be a patron until this is all over, if they survive. We tried to order delivery from their online website but it kept crashing. Their website also advertised we could order a growler from them but when you got to the beer selection page, it said we couldn't order anything. So we then tried calling because I offered to pick up our order on my way home. My husband was the #7th caller in line. He was not able to get through to a person to place an order for pick up in the 20 minutes it took me to drive from my place of work (after working a 10 hour shift) to their location. I don't want to sit in my car for an hour waiting for a pizza and a growler of beer after working a 10 hour shift. So I didn't stay and went home. We tried again several times on their website and via phone app. WE TRIED SO FREGGIN HARD!!! We tried for an HOUR! Yelp defines a one star review as "Methinks not". I'd like to add "www.nope.com" as a description as well. I tried to spend my money here and I tried to support them in this time of uncertainty. They kept me from supporting them. If you can't pivot and change according to your climate you will lose business. Upgrade your phone system to have multiple lines and join up with another delivery service. You are amateurs compared to Five Star and Papa Johns. They have it down and they much smaller ... #%@$*?! read more
